Christmas
The “I don’t need anything” husband gift thread
LongPauseNoAnswer · 03/10/2020 20:10
Does anyone else have a DH who is practically impossible to buy for? He doesn’t need anything, doesn’t want anything and I have no clue what to get him.
He doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t like sports. He sounds horrifically boring but he’s not I swear
What are you getting your impossible to buy for DH?
GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 03/10/2020 20:17
Mine's getting a very classy keyring which will incorporate a family joke.
Honestly, anything he wants, he buys. He doesn't really read physical books any more. He has limited interest in clothes. We have a vast stash of booze.
Every bloody Christmas and birthday it's the same.

I once heard the advice that many men appreciate an upgrade on their favourite ‘boring’ things - so, a new pair of sheepskin slippers if you live in an old draughty house, fluffy new towels, pyjamas & bathrobe, 5 x quality tee shirts, a cashmere scarf, a hunter’s hat if you live in a cold area, etc etc.
Seemed a good suggestion to me.
Otherwise, a beer/ale subscription would have been my next suggestion, but he doesn’t drink sooo... a curry box subscription? Or maybe a Korean/Japanese (or other) cooking ingredients box from souschef to try out some new cuisines at home. Perhaps a lock breaking set or maybe build-a-radio? My DH loved the Lego sopwith camel model I got him one year.
Otherwise why not join Reastie’s bargain threads (currently on no.10) as there are always lots of great ideas on there.

Good suggestions @, that’s a good one about the upgrade. He Ioves Japanese food so maybe a sushi making course or something.
Yeah @MahMahMahMahCorona he’s a mountain hiker. I’m thinking a nice compass or an upgrade on the walking sticks he has.
Great ideas, thanks!!

I also took the initiative and got him a Soda Stream after a resoundingly successful thread on here a few days ago.. I'm not entirely sure he's ever realised just how much he needs one.

Usually DH buys his county cricket club membership, and beer at lunchtime and from trip there and back, but obviously this season never happened so he's already paid for next year so I'm going to have but him something. I'm thinking about some band tshirts, but haven't a clue what else.

Dh got an upgraded computer chair for his birthday. He now looks like he's in command of a star ship, but he's very, very comfortable in it. He spends a lot of time at his computer, more than ever now he's wfh for the foreseeable, so it was worth upgrading that (and it's not something he would buy for himself).
At Christmas he normally gets clothes. As in, boring everyday clothes like jeans, t-shirts, jogging bottoms, socks, etc. He likes that, so he never has to buy his own clothes, ever, as his Christmas stash lasts all year. I often buy him shoes/boots as well, but this year he doesn't need them as he isn't walking anywhere near as much now he's wfh.

Maps
Books on maps - these are definitely better in hard copy than digital
Tools
Nice tools (!) - as others have suggested, an upgrade on what we have already
Decent cooking kit (there's always something I he needs, and even if I use it more than him, he'll benefit from the results)
Lego
Nanoblocks
