The “I don’t need anything” husband gift thread

Does anyone else have a DH who is practically impossible to buy for? He doesn’t need anything, doesn’t want anything and I have no clue what to get him.

He doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t like sports. He sounds horrifically boring but he’s not I swear Grin

What are you getting your impossible to buy for DH?

thanks for the Russian map book on page 1. Dh loves USSR (and used to live there for a while) and loves map.
Perfect storm![/quote]
Ha ha @steppemum. I didn't realise it was a Zombie and I'd commented on it a year ago. I had to look back to see what I'd said, and note that I've just said pretty much the same as I did this time.

It was the Yorkshire Sculpture Park gift shop that I have to thank for finding the book, because that's where I bought it, following my own advice to just buy things for myself when I want it, because it seemed utterly pointless instead of just buying the book, to send DP a link to say 'please buy me this book for Christmas'.

Sadly I haven't really looked at the Russian map book as much as I'd like, just not got round to it and the lure of the evil screen.

Thanks back to you for reminding me of it's existence. I've now vowed to get that book out, and a couple of others and have a proper look at them Smile.

Grin I didn't realise it was a zombie thread at first either. But it has been brilliant. Some excellent ideas.

Zombie threads in Christmas are not a problem IMO, always useful for ideas.

My dh always insists he doesn't want or need anything for christmas, and tells me to just concentrate on dd, so I started saving 2 pound coins up throughout the entire year. I counted them up on christmas eve and realised I'd saved over 800 pounds , so I put them all in a tin and wrapped it up. He couldn't work out what on earth it was when he received it due to the weight....but I must say, was very surprised and pleased when he opened it, and now hints for the " money tin " every year .

Can you just not agree not to buy anything. I'm 50 yo, male, and just don't want any more stuff..

If DD paints me a picture I'm happy, or buys me a Mars bar..

Just agree not to bother.

Christmas without having to open anything was lovely.

Do him a stocking:

Body spray - Dior Savage, Boss, Chanel Bleu
Clarins/ Dermalogica/ Clinique mens toiletries
Hotel Chocolat, Toblerone
Decent socks
Turkish barber voucher
iMax voucher

Also, book Christmas treats rather than buy stuff they don’t need; escape room, concert, movie, rugby or football match

Totally understand where you are coming from @topcat2014 but our dd is severely autistic. We lost her 9 year old twin a few years back...he was extremely ill in hospital all his life and it hit her hard. The gifts for mummy and daddy are a really big thing for her at Christmas, so basically I do it for her. It really makes her Christmas when we all have things to open....and dad usually spends most of it on her through the year anyway

DH has a birthday just before Christmas so this is a mix of ideas for both

  • bean to cup coffee machine
  • nice espresso cups
  • book about geology
  • Marina Hyde book
  • new Richard Osman book
  • possibly a book I've just read about in which different writers write stories as a homage to Agatha Christie- need to find out a bit more about this one
  • whisky

Also thinking about some really good pocket binoculars but might be over budget. If anyone can recommend a pair, please shout.

Seeing as this threads been resurrected just wanted to suggest a towel poncho thing to anyone who's husband spends time at the beach! Brilliant for flash free changing, especially when wrangling kids too or post paddle boarding!

Glad to see the resurrection of this particular zombie thread - have had a browse and found a few things for the hard to buy for men in my life, so here's a few reciprocal ideas!

I'd recommend a Dishpatch voucher: dishpatch.co.uk
Delivery for home cooking from some wonderful restaurants and chefs, Inc Michel Roux & Tom Kerridge

Not at all bargains but comparatively - I had looked at the wooden lego drawers etc last year but they were so expensive, they have reduced in price now, I got some from John Lewis.

Probably late to this particular gadget, but have bought him an airfryer for his birthday.

Personalised keyring with the co-ordinates of the place he proposed to me. I think I got this from Lisa Angel.

Good luck everyone!

I sent my brother some really nice coffee from H.R. Higgins. I noticed he said how nice it was when he had some at our house. He was really pleased. Otherwise tickets to something you know they will enjoy or a voucher for a meal out.
