If they're in store, can you let me know and I'll send DH with a very detailed list Wink I bought a few from B&M last year and they were a bit disappointing, but the Wilko (daffs) and Sains (crocus & tulip) ones were pretty good.

TheWoollybacksWife · 11/08/2020 16:38

I got lovely tulips in B&Q last year. I'm on the lookout for more Aliums. We only planted one pack of bulbs and they were lovely until I saw Monty's at Longmeadow. Then I got Alium envy Envy

pussycatinboots · 11/08/2020 17:39

I discovered that you have to remove the seed pod from snowdrops, and dig them up/split the cluster of bulbs. I dig them up but thought you were supposed to leave the seed pods🤦‍♀️
Not tried Allium - always quite fancied a Snakes Head Fritillary!

FireflyGirl · 11/08/2020 18:03

I've never had much luck with fritillaries, boots. Trusty tulips have never let me down Grin They weren't in DMIL's local store today, but I'll keep an eye out. They have reduced their seeds to half price. I wonder if they'll have enough left to do their usual 10p sale at the end of summer!!

Woolly I think most of the country would have allium envy looking at Longmeadow! Groupon have a couple of offers on them:
Mixed alliums £14.99 for 200 (£5.99 for 20 or £10.99 for 100);
Purple Sensation £16.99 for 96 (£7.99 for 24 or £10.99 for 48);

Plus £1.99 postage.

Both fulfilled by Thompson & Morgan.

I have been considering them for a few days; I fancy getting the largest pack of purple sensation to split between home/the allotment, because I love them, but I just don't know if I'll physically be able to get down to plant them (and I don't trust DH!). Might ask DM if she'd buy/plant them for me as an early Christmas present...

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 11/08/2020 18:11

I need Autumn now!

TheWoollybacksWife · 11/08/2020 18:16

Thanks for those links Firefly. I'll point DH towards them.

Do any of our legal bods here know anything about the Consumer Rights Act? I've got a problem with a small electrical item that's older than a year but less than 2 years old. If I could ask a question or two by PM I would be very grateful.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/08/2020 19:03

I don't really know much, Woolly. I'd have to read the Act and interpret it rather than using my knowledge, if that makes sense?

I think I must've planted almost 1,000 bulbs at the allotment. They aren't always that keen on coming up, annoyingly. I can't look at more; I'm officially out of space.

Annoying re the bonfire, Boots.

I went to Sainsbury’s earlier and it was so hot in the car that my glasses steamed up! It's definitely been our hottest day today.

We had a lovely swim at my dads, the dog came in too Grin just having dinner then need to get the dc to bed it's still so hot though I'm going to be sad when the heatwave is gone.

MarshmallowManiac · 11/08/2020 19:32

I love the heat too Wreck maybe a few degrees lower and I would be really happy Grin Glad you and DDog had a lovely swim Smile

Love the Alliums too Woolly, such a vibrant colour, think will try them this year. Smile

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/08/2020 19:47

Hello everyone , I've been MIA , at Dparents so didn't have access to computer . ( And I thought I'd best spend some actual time with them Xmas Grin not gawping at a screen)

It was rain/cool (about 20c) so until I drove back, I wasn't subjected to the sweltering heatwave .

Spend loads of time tidying , sorting things for them, taking DDad shopping and watching TV ( no Metflix or ought there )

Loads of Christmas TV though Xmas Grin

Some baking programme (Beautiful Bakery or similar)
Friends Christmas (I don't watch Friends so passed)
The Chase Christ,as Special
Christmas film (Danny DeVito ?)

So I hae not missed out .

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 11/08/2020 21:48

Sounds lovely 70

Have chosen my bulbs, around 300 for £35 which seems good to me!

NoWordForFluffy · 11/08/2020 23:27

I should finish this half of the cross stitch this week, hopefully! I've a Biffy Clyro gig to watch on Sat night though, so won't be doing it then.

Sounds like you've been busy, 70!

Most, are you from Aberystwyth? I saw their flooding on TV. 😢

Awake since 4:30. There was a cat meowing really loudly, a dog barking, church Bella’s ringing and then the cockerel started 😴 was meant to be meeting a friend today at the beach but her dc is unwell. We will probably still go as it's the last hot day. Just waiting for the dc to wake up so we can get there early.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/08/2020 07:10

Morning! I'm currently at the allotment where it's very autumnal indeed.

It was way too hot to sleep last night so I'm knackered now! Ah well.

Enjoy the beach Wreck.

I am yes fluffy :( One of the restaurants flooded was where DH and I had one of our first dates.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 12/08/2020 07:15

Just in the last hour of my nightshift. Been relatively sedate after the intensity of the shift the day before. Really hoping I don't roast in bed like I did yesterday mind.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/08/2020 07:47

Sorry, Why, I think I you will! 😢

That's really sad, Most. How awful after everything else.

WreckTangled · 12/08/2020 08:13

We're here! The dc have the playground to themselves and it's boiling already. Just found out our friends are here too so will meet them after breakfast

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 12/08/2020 08:24

Just been for a run and am now sweating like a pig! Am going to spend the rest of the day doing my Cross stitch in front of a fan.

Really hope you get some sleep why

Love how autumnal your allotment looks fluffy :)

CrazyBaubles · 12/08/2020 08:33

Morning 😎 We're finally back in the land of signal as we're working our way back down the country. Had a big day of driving yesterday and stayed just outside a town called Moffat. Have a 4-5 hour drive today to get to MILs.

So sad about Aberystwyth most. DH and I love it there.

Pic posted of the most Scottish traffic obstruction yesterday....

NerosFiddle · 12/08/2020 09:13

Morning.

Overcast here today again. The muggy-ness is doing my head in.

Crazy you've inspired me. I'm going to say to dh that we should do a tour of Scottish highlands. By the time we get round to it though, Boris will have built his imaginary bridge.

Dh is off next week and wants to go out every day. Completely throws out my routine.

pussycatinboots · 12/08/2020 09:58

Morning.
We had the massive thunder storms last night, from about 11 to about 3. One or two really loud and a bit frightening bolts. Still too hot.🥵
why I hope you're asleep now.
Nero yes, they do that - wait until he retires!🤦‍♀️

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/08/2020 10:47

just outside a town called Moffat

Crazy I drove from Central Scotland to Essex yesterday .

bout 15 miles ouside of Moffat on the M74 (I think) there were huge wind turbines with a heavy layer of fog below them. They looked like they were floating in the sky with the hills behind them

Couldn't take a photo as I was flying solo Xmas Grin

CrazyBaubles · 12/08/2020 11:12

Neros a few people have said similar and I've had a couple of Facebook friends etc contacting me asking where to go as the pics were so lovely
It really is a beautiful place, and if you're an outdoorsy person it's amazing (I'm not particularly but DH is, he's been hiking all over the place).

I start my new job on Monday and DH will be home as it's summer holidays. Throws me off when he's around so you have my sympathy!

That's one hell of a drive 70! We went from Uist to Skye on the Ferry then drove to Moffat.
Today we're going from Moffat to Yorkshire and staying with MIL for a few days as DH hasn't seen her since before Christmas, then have the drive straight home on the weekend.

We saw turbines but there's not a cloud in the sky today - there's also no air con in the camper so we're all a bit 🥵

Have to say, I'm very happy with ddog though. He's coped so well, especially considering he is now 100% blind in one eye and about 50% in the other. Only change is that he now has to stay on a lead when the sun goes down because he can't see us and panics.

fluffy you're flying through that cross stitch! I haven't had the time I wanted to work on mine so my coo still isn't finished 🙄

MarshmallowManiac · 12/08/2020 11:35

Morning everyone.
It is 29 degrees here, still sweltering but it does not feel as hot as yesterday. Smile

Sounds lovely 70, it is nice to spend some quality time with them face to face without technology. I bet they appreciated it too. Smile

Enjoy your day at the beach and playground Wreck

Cross stitch looking lovely Fluffy and allotment really coming on I miss my allotment

So sorry to hear that Most Sad You're very brave running in this weather. Grin

Hope you manage to keep cool in bed Why

I've encountered that in Ireland Crazy traffic there seems to be tractors and cattle Grin

Would love to do a tour of the highlands Neros hopefully one day

No storms yet here Boots but I think they're coming.
