It's 32° here. We've found an empty playground which is good

sideorderofchips · 08/08/2020 18:22

I'm melting here 😭😭😭

WreckTangled · 08/08/2020 18:47

Same here. The park we went to has a little orchard so the dc picked apples and pears to eat. Also plums but they weren't quite ripe yet.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 08/08/2020 18:56

Side How did you break the screw??? That sounds painful.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/08/2020 19:22

It's gone gloomy here, and hasn't been really hot - probably mid-20°s - at any point.

It was probably hottest as we left the woods to come home! Not necessarily a bad thing.

I do think it might rain. I hope it does so I don't have to water the allotment tomorrow. 🤣

DH and I have spent the evening discussing names. If anything was going to put me off having another child, it would be that. We've narrowed it down to 3 that he (and I quote) 'doesn't hate', and none of which I am mad about. I despair! He's completely vetoed all of the pretty names I love.

One of the perils of working with troubled kids. And apparently my favourite name is shared by a lot of middle-aged social workers Hmm

I've threatened him that I'm going to drag myself out of hospital still bleeding and register her using a random name generator! (Sue Perkins, anyone Confused??)

WreckTangled · 08/08/2020 22:01

Oh no! It's hard choosing a name isn't it? Especially when it needs to suit a baby, teen and adult plus be suitable for a high court judge (that was my specification Grin, not that I'm expecting either of mine to go into law...!).

MarshmallowManiac · 08/08/2020 22:19

Evening everyone.
Hope you are all well and not sweltering in this heat.

Just returned from Cornwall (in a mobile greenhouse), have been travelling most of the day.
Stopped at Bude Mrs it was a lovely place but unfortunately the beach was rammed!

OMG Chips that sounds horrendous, mine is slowly, slowly improving at the moment, but still quite sore.

My tomatoes seem to have grown even while we were away Firefly, my DD has been watering them, so maybe she should do it every day Smile We have planted them in my Godmother's luggage trunk, they seem to like it. Grin

OMG Neros do you think you can stand it Grin

Fabulous pictures Crazy, I ate the Haribo hearts out of my cocktail yesterday. Enjoy Lewis, we passed Stonehenge on the way home and unbelievably there was no traffic.

Glad you found an empty playground Wreck

Just now waiting for my Sainsbury's shop Smile

Morning!

Firefly, we were like that with a boy's name as we didn't find out the sex so had to choose one of each. We'd had a name when DD was born, but I went off it, so we had to choose another. DH was a total pain in the arse as he was like yours! We went through the entire ONS spreadsheet of names from the year before until we decided on one that I loved and he thought was alright!

I think it's meant to be warmer here today than yesterday. Nothing like other people have had recently though. Thankfully!

We couldn't decide on a girl's name at all so we're relieved at the 20 week scan to be told it was a boy! For a boy's name we went through a whole book of baby names ticking the ones we liked. DS has the one name we both ticked!

NoWordForFluffy · 09/08/2020 08:02

We found girls' names really easy. It's a good job we only have one boy though! 😂😂

WreckTangled · 09/08/2020 08:12

Ds is named after the CIA agent in Bond after we were watching it one night when I was pregnant and both liked it. For dd I had a dream we called her that and when I told dh he liked the name too so that's what we went for.

It's a lovely morning here. Sunny with a slight breeze and only 19° hopefully the breeze will continue!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 09/08/2020 09:36

I was expecting another sweltering day but we are on the Cardiff Bay Barrage in jumpers! On to Dyffryn Gardens soon.

pussycatinboots · 09/08/2020 11:32

Firefly You are the one carrying this baby, you have to give birth to her, YOU get to pick her name - all he has to do is avoid broken fingers while all of that happens Wink

most jumpers? 🥵🍦

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 09/08/2020 11:51

It's really quite chilly here today boots, I am loving it! Cloudy and cool but dry so perfect for enjoying the countryside :) DS is having the best time on this log stack at Dyffryn Gardens

NerosFiddle · 09/08/2020 12:04

Morning.

We had ds' name picked from the beginning and I changed it when he was born.
Dd has a name I loved for years but dh didn't like it. He eventually came round.

MarshmallowManiac · 09/08/2020 12:29

Afternoon everyone.

My first DD was always going to be called her name, my second I had a name for her that I loved, but changed my mind when I saw her. My DS (we didn't find out the sex), who I just imagined would be a girl, but then in the delivery room we got a shock! Couldn't think of many boys names for him, and every one I liked my DH didn't! Eventually we found a name we both liked. Grin

Oh no Most, hope you are enjoying your day. Smile Lovely pic of DS.

Beautiful day today, it is very hot but thankfully with a little breeze. Did a few washes from the holiday which are on the line, going to take them in in about an hour. We are going to Mote Park today, never been before but it is supposed to be massive (400 acres), and have a lovely lake. Have put our dinner in the slow cooker (Cowboy Beans), to have ready for when we return. Smile

pussycatinboots · 09/08/2020 12:54

most he looks like he's had a fab morning!
Wreck DH guessed your DS name in one go, he must pay more attention to the films than me unless it's Thunderball, with the Vulcans

FireflyGirl · 09/08/2020 13:22

It's actually quite cool here today, bit of a change to Friday and yesterday!

We have narrowed it down to 3 names that neither of us hate. One is Matilda, but she would likely have it shortened to Tilly which unfortunately would sound ridiculous with our surname (two syllables, starting with T). I don't mind the other two names, but I don't love them. I'm hoping we'll have an epiphany after she's born or DH will feel so guilty after seeing after everything I've been through, he'll agree with my favourite Grin

Can't remember if I mentioned, but DSis is also pregnant and due in January lockdown baby, snigger. She finds out what she's having next month, could narrow our list even further!

WreckTangled · 09/08/2020 13:38

I would shorten Matilda to Mattie or Tilda.

TheWoollybacksWife · 09/08/2020 14:10

DD1 has got a friend called Matilda. She either gets her full name or occasionally Tilda. The first queen of England (in her own right) should have been Matilda but she didn't inherit (principally due to being female Angry) Empress Matilda

sideorderofchips · 09/08/2020 14:28

The doctors version of touch toe. Weight bearing was different to mine

I've just been out for a run and sweating buckets now

NoWordForFluffy · 09/08/2020 14:52

We didn't look at either of ours before they were named! Both were c section, and DD was resuscitated and DS was a teeny bit surprised with the rude awakening, so needed a firm rub with a towel first!

Run, Chips? Insanity!

It started cool here but is scorchio (for here, not in comparison to Chips and Wreck!) now.

Looks like a lovely day, Most.

I'm just back from the allotment. I had to harvest my beetroot as baby beets as I need the space for seeds DH got for me!

Firefly, FWIW, I think Tilly goes well with your surname! It's a lovely name.

Mrsmadevans · 09/08/2020 15:50

Fire l love Tilly it's so pretty and conjures up an imaginary picture of this beautiful sweet little girl dressed in Edwardian frilly clothes and leg o' mutton sleeves in the dress Smile
