Enjoy your days everyone :) The good weather starts today for us. Off to a park this morning then need to do some gardening this afternoon.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/07/2020 07:38

Your DH kills things with his hose, Boots. It definitely needs to stay put away!

NerosFiddle · 28/07/2020 08:03

Morning.

3 houses are being built across from us and they started work at 7 this morning. Normally that wouldn't bother me but dc we're actually having a lie in this morning.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/07/2020 08:07

Sod's law in action, Nero.

Ours are still asleep / waking. I thought they might sleep a touch longer after the hotel night where it was a late one!

Fluffy they have some fab gardening stuff in HB 😃👏
Boot did you send the cats up? 😂
Off to Mum's to see to her, then l am off to the lake after to connect with nature and my poor beleaguered DH 🤗
Have a lovely day everyone 😀

CrazyBaubles · 28/07/2020 11:32

Fingers crossed for you Hairspray

most I am 😡 on your behalf about your apples. Do you know who the boys were?

Make sure you don't get overexcited in Home Bargains Fluffy 😂

I need someone to kick my arse and make me focus today. I've been working since 7 but my mind is so scattered I'm not being anywhere near as productive as I need to be as I have so much to do!
Am also getting irritated with the whole mortgage situation. We have a deposit and a house we'd like to buy but our mortgage offer ended mid lockdown and now the only ones we can get require 2 or 3 times the deposit we have 😩

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 28/07/2020 13:48

Fingers, toes and eyes crossed for you hairspray.

Sorry to hear about the apples most. Evil little gits.

Glad you had a good weekend Neros.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/07/2020 15:12

What a nightmare, Crazy. Is that all a broker can find? What about your own bank? Sometimes current customers can get better deals.

I've been to HB and bought half the planet, it seems! I was buying for my in-laws too, which doubled the quantity.

I walked there with my wheelie trolley and spotted loads of blackberries on my way, so bought freezer bags and picked a load on the way back. I barely made a dent in what was there and got just over 1.1kg of them!

I may go back another day. Grin

I cleaned the kitchen and utility room earlier. As well as the woodwork / doors in the dining room and hall earlier. A cleaned a few windows and glass cupboard doors too. I still need to dust: my least favourite job!

Wheelie trolley. Full! I also had an insulated bag with the food items in it. 😁 Pack horse, me!

Afternoon everyone.
Hope you are all having a lovely day. Nice and hot with us today (and all week I think), we are promised between 26 and 30 for the rest of the week [hot]

Sorry to hear that Neros, hope they don't hear their alarms!! Grin Grin

Enjoy your day with your Mum, and hope you have a special, relaxing time with your DH at the lake Smile

Kicking arse and shaking shoulders Focus Crazy !! Grin Grin
Hope you get the mortgage you want. Smile

Glad you found a massive haul of blackberries Fluffy I seem to be permanently picking in my park Grin Must plan another trip to HB

Just returned from town and bought quite a few stocking fillers in Body Shop. They had some offers going on, and if you spent £25 you got a 250ml shower gel free. Grin

Mrsmadevans · 28/07/2020 15:54

Afternoon everyone 😀
That is awful re your mortgage Crazy like Fluffy l think you need to go to a mortgage broker or 2 !
Good luck anyway 👏🤗💐
Fluffy l knew you would see loads in HB . Excellent work re the fruit picking!!

Mrsmadevans · 28/07/2020 15:56

Nero so pleased that you had a lovely weekend 🤗👏
Maniac well done on the body shop bargains 👏😃

Mrsmadevans · 28/07/2020 15:58

Why glad you & Fluffy caught up over the weekend too it sounded lovely 🤗💐👏
Hairspray good luck ! Can't be long now 😃

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/07/2020 18:58

Crazy HSBC are still offering 10% mortgages. We got an agreement in principle from them today based on that :)

TheWoollybacksWife · 28/07/2020 19:11

Good news most. I'll pass that info on to DD1 too as she is half heartedly house hunting. She has got a decent deposit saved but is a first time buyer. DD2 is planning to be her lodger! Good luck with the house hunting most and crazy 🍀

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/07/2020 21:14

Ah most that is rough, hopefully they ate them ( and got bellyache) not just stealing for the saje of stealing.

There's a house across from me that was sold pre-lockdown, I'm waiting for whoever bought it to roll up with diggers/builders/Travis Perkins lorries .
It is ideal to knock down the garage , put u a double side extension, rear extension and loft extension - they could double the size . Not looking forward to all the extra traffic (and apparently Boris changed the hours building work can go on till 9pm Shock

Planning to go and see DParents soon ( and try and sneak a load of hoarded tat out ) hopefully their local dump is open.
DParents are very much "Oh put it in the Charity Shop" when IRL , it needs to go in the bin.
I keep telling them that Charity Shops are a business and need things they can sell and that people want to buy . DParents seem horrified at binning something that could still be used , but don't understand that though they might use it , doesn't mean others will.
Then they go round giving/offering things to people (like in their Church) .
I try and telll them that it puts the work onto the other person to bin it , they might not want to offend Dparents by saying "No, Ta"

I have my work cut out here !

I told DD it was 150 days , she was a tad eye-rolley at this nugget of information ( I blame Teen Angst , waiting for results and the Limbo of Lockdown and waiting for University ). I didn;t smite her with a roll of Christmas wrapping paper this time .

CrazyBaubles · 28/07/2020 22:53

Thank you for the kick up the arse MrsMad

most Unfortunately even though we no longer have debt, we did until around 2 years ago and our credit ratings haven't recovered enough. We had a mortgage with a 10% deposit before lockdown, it didn't have the best interest rate but was completely affordable for us. Since lockdown, most of those mortgages are gone and lenders are asking us for 20-30% deposit.
The stress is awful to be honest, we've worked so hard to pay everything off, changed jobs to earn a better wage, saved our arses off, lived in a low cost house in an area we don't like much, literally get to our goal just for everything to shift in front of our eyes. It's maddening.

70 MIL and her H are similar to your DPs. The amount of stuff they have is nuts and their logic for it drives me crackers - they buy something, it doesn't do what they want / they don't like it. They don't return it / bin it / sell it / donate it - no they buy something else for the same purpose but keep the first one "just in case."
Example - bought a Hoover, it's too heavy. Bought hoover 2 - works fine but cable is too short and they don't like having to unplug it to move it around. Bought Hoover 3 which has no wires. They love it but battery doesn't last long enough to do the house and car and granny cottage. Couldn't possibly do one, charge, do the other. So they bought a handheld one for the car and a roomba for the granny cottage - they now own 5 bloody hoovers!

DH takes everything they palm off on him now, and sneaks all sorts out that they don't need / want then we donate / tip it.

I needed a few bits out of the attic today and DH had to get some of the Christmas decs our to get to it. Was nice, I had a little rummage through and found more kids Christmas books that I bought last year and forgot about

Tomorrow is my last day in my job - we're having a team zoom meeting to see me off and I'm a bit worried I'm going to get emotional (I don't do that at work ever). I've been with this team for 2 years and my current boss for longer than that - they're some of the best people I've ever worked with and that makes such a difference I think.

On top of that, I have agreed to a campervan holiday as our summer holiday has been cancelled. It's saving us money, gets us away and we leave as soon as I finish work so lots going on at the mo.

WreckTangled · 29/07/2020 05:58

Crazy hope you enjoy your last day and have a lovely holiday. Sorry about the mortgage it must be really shit.

I'm taking the dc to London today. Might be mad but I'm sure it'll be fine.

Dropping into the 40s! Whoop!

Allotment day here after not going yesterday.

Enjoy London, Wreck.

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 29/07/2020 07:25

Morning.
Car going for MOT today. DH then doing some much needed mowing while I clean the bathrooms.
Have a safe journey, Wreck.
My Mum and Dad had 3 hoovers (in a 3 bed terrace) One was too heavy, one the lead was too short and it wouldn't do the kitchen or stairs Hmm and the other was older than me (1950s Hoover Constellation) that Mum wouldn't let me take to the tip because of it's sentimental value. 🤣🤣🤷🏻‍♀️🤯

NerosFiddle · 29/07/2020 08:17

Morning.

Crazy enjoy your last day.

Wreck enjoy London.

Fluffy enjoy the allotment.

And boots enjoy the MOT 😂

I think today will be spent baking with dc. It's only going to be gingerbread men but it'll probably take all day.

HairsprayBabe · 29/07/2020 08:25

Distracting myself from the impending doom of our house move by looking at prams...
I obviously bought a whole travel system months ago but I have decided I hate it and I want a different one 😂😅 is this normal?

I just want to move house 😭😭😭

NoWordForFluffy · 29/07/2020 08:30

I'd say normal, but don't waste money buying another as they feelings are probably due to a general dissatisfaction about the house etc than about the travel system itself!

Are you exchanging today?
