I just noticed we only have 20 posts left and I'm off to the allotment! So here is thread 7!

So I have started earlier this year. I normally start in August but given I'm unlikely to browsing the shops for hours on end this year and the bookpeople are no more, I'm struggling a bit this year to think of ideas and to do it on the cheap.

I am particularly looking for cheap book places (not second hand unfortunately due to DH who is snobby about it). I've seen fair less deals on books generally this year.

And does anyone know if garden places have good clearance deals on seeds / bulbs and if so when.

I am going to try to refrain from purchasing any more decorations and trees this year after buying 3 last year and going completely nuts on a neon pink and blue theme.

This year seems to be on slow motion and I think I need my tinsle fix early this year.

Yes it isn't good Crazy when they all think they own the street. It takes a lot to get me annoyed, but when they do they should run very far away true blooded Scorpio Grin Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 16/07/2020 21:51

My cross stitch is way down the list. I'm knitting a jacket for the new family baby and it's slow going. Even worse I've got the wool to make baby's big brother the same jacket - so same again, but bigger. I think once I can move my arm completely freely it might be a little less daunting. I think DH needs to take my phone off me and push my nose towards the grindstone - I'm too easily distracted.

NerosFiddle · 16/07/2020 21:52

Marshmallow are you Irish?

NerosFiddle · 16/07/2020 21:53

Crazy that's true about the weather. And at the their closest point Ireland and Scotland are only 12 miles from each other. So we get the same of everything really

NerosFiddle · 16/07/2020 21:54

Woolly I'm the same. It doesn't take much for me to procrastinate. I'd rather watch paint dry than do a tap of proper work.

TheWoollybacksWife · 16/07/2020 21:59

RedToothBrush are you looking for children's or adult books? The Works usually have good deals on books - particularly the sort of box sets/multipacks that The Book People were good for. Asda often have deals on current/recent books.

MarshmallowManiac · 16/07/2020 21:59

Fluffy amazing cross stitch,

Yes Neros Mum's Irish, lived there for a few years, love it there. Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 16/07/2020 22:05

Lowplex (www.lowplex.com/) are back tracing now. They do similar books with similar prices to Book People (but without the discount codes on top).

Dobbies has a half price seed sale now. But Premier Seeds online are always cheaper / better.

DH wishes I was easily distracted. I put my head down for hours each night, and stitch, stitch, stitch.

Fluffy I've been trying to remember the name of that book site. I always bought the 10 for £10 with the book people.

NerosFiddle · 16/07/2020 22:15

Marshmallow greetings then from the Emerald Isle Grin

MarshmallowManiac · 16/07/2020 22:18

Thanks Neros greetings right back Smile We were supposed to go there at Easter but then this mess happened!

Mrsmadevans · 16/07/2020 22:19

@NoWordForFluffy

DH wishes I was easily distracted. I put my head down for hours each night, and stitch, stitch, stitch.
Ahem did that mean that Dh had a slight longing for you for other purposes other than sewing Fluffy Grin
Mrsmadevans · 16/07/2020 22:22

I have been watching some Vlogs on YT as well, there is a lovely couple called Sophie & Dave who have just had a baby bless them Smile
She had a water birth , they have just bought baby home , very sweet couple Smile

TheWoollybacksWife · 16/07/2020 22:34

I think we sometimes get days like this Marshmallow. Someone says they are looking for something or doing something and it starts a domino effect of people contributing. It looked as if at least half a dozen of us had time to contribute today - especially on the teapot hunt. Then there's a fair few crafters who like to keep track of their progress and before you know it there's 50-100 posts in a day. It's only going to accelerate too as we rattle through the year.

Most of the time I barely keep up 😂

MarshmallowManiac · 16/07/2020 22:41

Yes it has been a lovely day chatting with everybody. From teapots to neighbours (really funny) to cross stitch, really enjoyed it. Smile

MarshmallowManiac · 16/07/2020 22:43

Ahh that's lovely Mrs, I use YT for my workout in the morning Grin

RedToothBrush · 16/07/2020 22:44

Thanks. I'll have a good look. I've looked at the works and found their range on the limited side.

Lowplex sounds like what I'm looking for more.

Mrsmadevans · 16/07/2020 23:04

I have never heard of Lowplex Fluffy
I have better get to bed
Night night everyone ! Grin

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 16/07/2020 23:09

Woolly I know the old fashioned barbers in town. I know several who go there.

CrazyBaubles · 16/07/2020 23:09

Fluffy cross stitch bookmark is looking good.
I'll post a towel pic tomorrow - they're white with a red tartan pattern on it.

I too am in a habit of settling down to my cross stitch after reading through mn. Luckily DH doesn't seem to mind as he's either working or researching something or other.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 16/07/2020 23:10

Mrs I don't need to know that my brother in law has nefarious intent with my sister!!! I am an innocent you know 😉
