Not how much have you spent, but how many gifts do you think is enough?

I'm scared / thrilled in equal measure that I may be the tightest mum on Mumsnet. From me and their dad they get one present each. They are lower end of primary.

But, of course, they aren't waking up to one present. I've personally bought them a nice present (toys) from 2 sets of grandparents.
I've Amazon linked for one set of aunt and uncle, they are in my wardrobe ready to go. My aunt sends vouchers. Their dads aunt sends a cheque. Other aunts and uncles send whatever they fancy that year (and the kids have a large number of aunts and uncles). When we see 2 sets of grandparents they will get from one a bag each of stuff as she works at a charity shop (including as new Harry Potter books, for kids that really want these!) And from the other, about £100 of quality stuff, including clothes, books, toys and probably Lego (I know it's a toy).

The stockings my kids have are also quite big, so they'll get about 10 things each. Santa delivers to the front room here! They've got some decent stuff in their this year, including audio books, which would previously have been a big present. The 10 also includes wooden toys, special notepads, sweets, chocs.
They'll be delighted. It's loads.

Oh and their stockings will be full of Christmas themed treats just for them for lunch boxes and the holidays

About 10 gifts from Santa. 10 from parents and then stockings from Santa too. Stockings are filled with bubble bath, foam soap that sort of thing.

One from us. One from each set of grandparents. About 10 things in the stocking (eg a book, pants etc). I'm amazed at the large number of people giving 25-30 presents to each kid. Do you have huge houses to store everything? Do your kids play with everything?

I asked my sister if I could do the Xmas eve box this year as I very rarely get to spend Christmas with the family...so my nephews and nieces each have a personalised box, book, Christmas jumper, Christmas pj’s, mug with hot choc, candy cane, gold coins and a new bauble.

My eldest nephew (21) is getting the trainers which he requested money towards plus a hoodie and The younger siblings (5,3 & 17months) all have boots, trainers, multiple outfits and a toy as I try to spend the same on them all as far as possible.

I am spoiling them this year I think I’ve spent £200+ on them inc the Xmas eve boxes and I’d usually spend half that.

DD hasn't had a big main present this year, she's had everything she needs for a new hobby but it's lots of smaller things, it all fits in her sack which is my criteria. She gets a sack of presents (some years it's fuller than others) plus a stocking , she's an older teen so the stocking is a hairbrush, body sprays etc.

She's having mainly cash or gift cards from family but GPs will buy something to open and there's a big present from my DM so she'll do ok.

About 25 stocking gifts but these are just anything small enough to fit into their sacks and from Father Christmas. They are proper presents, not what I would describe as ‘tat’, stuff like Polaroid refills, acrylic paints, Harry Potter dobble, PS4 game, lush shower oils and bath stuff, photo frames, makeup, vouchers etc. Well some might call that tat Grin
And then they each have around 10 things to open from us. Those are bigger items (not always higher value than what’s in their stockings but there is always one ‘main’ present under the tree from us).
They do also get totally spoiled from our friends and families, possibly another 30 presents to open but it’s spread out over Christmas Day and Boxing Day as and when we see people so it’s not all sat under the tree together!

I'm with @shoebedobedobedobedoo
My kids have got more than enough, every year I worry there is not enough and after Christmas realise that's actually it was plenty. Am very very aware that we should be more restrained really.

Of course I want my kids to enjoy the "magic" of Christmas and 🎅 etc. But mostly I would like them to still be able to enjoy living here when/if they have their own kids.

Imagine if all children in the world had 30-40 presents each Christmas. We're lucky enough to be an affluent country where many of us can afford that. Doesn't mean that we should all be buying shit loads just because we can.
