I won't be personally.

we do, and always have done, but i don’t really know why? we literally only leave the house for an hour to visit grandparents and them we go straight back home and put our christmas pyjamas on. we’ve done it since i was little so it’s tradition now so can’t see us stopping.

Black tie /ball gowns for the main event !! ( I'm joking !)

RoseMartha · 19/12/2019 20:44

We make a bit of effort yes. Smart casual.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 19/12/2019 20:45

Suits for men. Ties & jackets off after the main event. Women smart trousers, dressy top or dress. Slippers on after main event.

Chasingsquirrels · 19/12/2019 20:46

No, I get dressed 🤣 but it's just jeans and a top as usual.
When we used to go to my SIL on Christmas or Boxing day I'd be a bit smarter, just just a jumper dress that is wear to work.

Featherweight · 19/12/2019 20:47

Depends whose house we go to for xmas dinner. It rotates between two relatives who have houses big enough to host.

One is a glamour puss who insists on a nice outfit. A bit more 'done up' than a normal average day.

The other relative doesn't give a shit and would be happy if her guests didn't even get out of their pjs for the day!

edgewater · 19/12/2019 20:47

Christ no. PJs or joggers and a hoodie. Definitely comfy.

Tonii1985 · 19/12/2019 20:48

Nah, comfies all day. Maybe a christmas jumper.

BasinHaircut · 19/12/2019 20:48

You are lucky if I get dressed at all if I’m not leaving the house

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 19/12/2019 20:50

Well we go to church in the morning so I’ll usually put on something smartish and then stay in it all day. Tbf I’d dress up a bit even if we weren’t going to church - we make the effort with food and drink and so on so why wouldn’t you make an effort with yourself?!

scrivette · 19/12/2019 20:50

I like to dress up a bit and the children get dressed up too (jeans and a shirt/smart top).

westr · 19/12/2019 20:51

Yes!

housewifeoflittleitaly · 19/12/2019 20:52

Yes, just always have. We were always bought a Christmas Day outfit (same for Easter) so I’ve always carried it in with my kids too. I usually wear a nice dress and heels, DH in a suit & kids dressed up similarly. However we go to church in the morning and then on to wherever we are having dinner that day - usually a hotel. I’d do the same if we were at home though.

lilgreen · 19/12/2019 20:53

Something dressy yes.Otherwise it’s like any other Sunday dinner.

hereiamagain84 · 19/12/2019 20:54

Always get dressed up for Christmas. Think it possibly stems from going to mass in the morning. We also Use it as a day to take a lot of photos etc. We were talking about it at work today and everyone had their new clothes bought/outfits picked out !

MissBehaving1000 · 19/12/2019 20:54

Saw this online which made me
Smile... so true too! 😂

Do you get dressed up for Christmas day?
lonelywolf · 19/12/2019 20:55

We always get new clothes for Christmas. There is an unspoken rule that any new clothes must be worn on the day - gets interesting when all the new clothes you get are pjs 😂 but yes we generally dress smart casual on Christmas Day. Something sparkly or Christmassy is the norm in our house.

mnahmnah · 19/12/2019 20:55

Sequinned jumpsuit and heels? No.

A nice top and jeans? Yes.

Trackies or PJs? No. Never.

BlueCornsihPixie · 19/12/2019 20:55

Yes I do! Its Christmas day, it's a special occasion!

I would wear a dress or something, it's not like a dress isn't comfy. I feel gross if I wear pjs all day!

lilgreen · 19/12/2019 20:57

Those wearing PJs, do you wash ?

Arrowfanatic · 19/12/2019 20:57

If we have guests we do, but on the years we dont the kids have been known to stay in PJs all day. Dh and I will usually do jeans and a smart top though.

No guests this xmas day, wahoo!

Dinosforall · 19/12/2019 20:58

A bit, my mum likes it and she's the one hosting!

Later on I will change into jeans/joggers

Bluerussian · 19/12/2019 20:58

Not dress up exactly but look nice, spruced up.

FruityWidow · 19/12/2019 21:02

Stretchy waistband is my only concern

oobedobe · 19/12/2019 21:03

Not massively 'dressed up' but maybe a pretty top and jeans, make-up done etc. My DDs wear pretty dresses and DH a nice shirt.

It makes it feel a bit more special for us. Boxing day is for staying in our PJs here.
