What were some of your favourite Xmas presents you got as a child? A little trip down memory lane.

Mine were:
A tinker bell toad stall house/playset
Barrie stamps (stamps with Barbie figurines on top)
Polly Pocket treehouse (magnetic one)
A DS lite
A tub of Crayola felt tips that were chunky
Jane Eyre/Wuthering Heights on dvd
An original Jessie doll from Toy Story 2

May think of some more! Bonus if you guess how old I am Grin

Mine was a reversible Mickey Mouse jumper!! It was really snuggly, big picture of Mickey on one side and you turned it inside out and there was loads of little Mickey Mouse pictures on a white background. I’d say I was about 7, still remember it vividly.

I got plenty of big presents over the years but that’s the one that stuck with me Grin

A pager and my best mate got one too. We had them for about a month until our parents took them off us as we’d run up massive phone bills calling the pager lady for them to send a message. I even had a holster for it with a picture of a wave on it. Happy days.

totallyradllama · 09/12/2019 21:10

A grifter/bmx type bike, the year before BMX's became a thing. My brother was convinced it was his but I got it!

Shockers · 09/12/2019 23:22

A record player. It changed my life having one of my own in my bedroom.

HellonHeels · 09/12/2019 23:23

Scented felt tip pens - loved them!

Playmobil horse and rider

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 09/12/2019 23:25

A play post office with little stamps and things for writing cheques.
It had a little food down front and a cash desk. God I loved it.

Mopmum35 · 09/12/2019 23:26

My best though would have to be my roller blades Smile ( and trolls)

Well you're young if you were a child when toy story 2 came out. I'm guessing 19?

An a la carte kitchen was my favourite I think. And some kickers loafers

FoxInABox · 10/12/2019 22:36

An art set designed like a carousel from a fake ‘auntie’! I loved it.

ChimpyChops · 10/12/2019 23:29

An a la carte kitchen and a fashion wheel 😊

Crazypanda85 · 10/12/2019 23:40

Polly pockets....damn I loved those mini women.
Dream phone....the first sign I would be boy obsessed for most of my younger years Grin

Chickenitalia · 10/12/2019 23:45

Barbie dream house, I loved it so much!
And a double deck tape player so I could copy everything!

Cattenberg · 10/12/2019 23:50

A pair of walkie-talkies when I was 11. I was so excited and felt like a spy. I could talk to my best friend (if she didn’t stray more than 50 metres away).

The kids of today will never understand.

As a child and growing up my favourite ever Christmas present was a navy cord pram with big silver wheels and knitted blankets. My folks didn’t have a lot of money and we weren’t ever allowed the luxury things during the year that today’s (and my own) kids get so having such big gift sitting waiting for me on Christmas morning from Santa was like a dream and I asked my parents several times if Santa had made a mistake as couldn’t believe it was mine. Magic is the the only way I can describe.

What I found out when I had my own 1st child and was throwing money at every plastic noisemaker, as you do. Is that my dear old mum had seen that special pram in the co/op window and had saved her stamps ever week until she had enough to buy it, my parents didn’t have a car so they had walked 4 miles on Christmas to eve to wheel it down the road, dad said they had to cover it with bin bags as it was so blizzardy. My mum had then knitted through the night to finish of the beautiful blankets in the inside and had said the were still damp from being pressed as I woke up, I of course was in awe that they had the remaining melted snow from the North Pole!!

Slavedrivers · 10/12/2019 23:58

A stereo shaped like a bottle of coke.

norbert23 · 11/12/2019 00:03

That's exactly what I was going to say @3littlemincemeatpies (except I don't have the beautiful story to go with it - your parents sound so lovely!)
I remember going down and seeing this amazing traditional silver cross style pram and my parents thought I didn't like it. It was only then that I realised it was for me and wasn't a real pram! I was thrilled with it and it had two hoods and was a twin one. Probably from the co up too as we had one near us 😀 I used to coax the cat into it and wheel him up and down my street.

EdHelpPls · 11/12/2019 00:16

I don’t remember opening any specific things ( I got plenty, and I have seen photos of me opening stuff, I just don’t remember actually opening them) I do remember my brother getting a table that had ping pong, snooker, pool etc, you just turn the table top over and bits were stored underneath. I remember dad getting a remote control car and I spent the afternoon helping him build and paint it.
But toys I remember owning are a cardboard dolls house i could decorate myself ( but actually left it v minimalist!) A brown fisher price tape recorder and tapes to go in it and we could record our own voice. Mum still has the tapes of me singing I think!
And a doll that’s about the size of a 3 year old child. My daughters play with it now :)

Corneliusmurphy · 11/12/2019 00:28

The my little pony dream castle, god I loved it so much, it’s still in a cupboard at my mum’s. Oo and the a la Carte kitchen.

As a teenager without a doubt my most used present was a three cd changer stereo.

ShippingNews · 11/12/2019 01:01

Like other pp , mine was a dolls pram - a Silver Cross style beauty , every little girl's dream at that time . Mum had made sheets and blankets for it, and it had a sun shade to shelter the doll in the summer. I still remember the magic of seeing it there waiting for me. Nothing has ever matched up to that . I'm in my 60's so that happened in the 1960s.

mamaduckbone · 11/12/2019 07:11

My baby doll, which I woke up and saw in the middle of the night as she was sitting on top of my pillowcase on the landing. I can still remember not being able to get back to sleep because I was so happy.

'Loving you' Barbie - she had a dress with red hearts on and a came with a stamp and stickers.

One year my (much older) sister made me a stocking full of stationery - I loved that, and probably still would now to be fair.
