What were some of your favourite Xmas presents you got as a child? A little trip down memory lane.

Mine were:
A tinker bell toad stall house/playset
Barrie stamps (stamps with Barbie figurines on top)
Polly Pocket treehouse (magnetic one)
A DS lite
A tub of Crayola felt tips that were chunky
Jane Eyre/Wuthering Heights on dvd
An original Jessie doll from Toy Story 2

May think of some more! Bonus if you guess how old I am Grin

Barbie

Children’s books

My grandmother once gave me a gold coloured handbag mirror from Max Factor when I was 9 (think she got it as a freebie when she was buying makeup as a present for my older cousin as she herself never wore any). It felt like such a glamourous and adult gift and I loved it!

A mini china teaset with panda bears on it. I think that was my favourite gift ever as a child.

I love this thread!
My favourite presents were,a lundy dolls house that had full working electrics.
A big Sindy house that felt as tall as I was.
A cabbage patch doll (when they originally came out)
A Kermit the frog cuddly toy
A Major Morgan
The mousetrap game
A walkman

@Teddy2541 Were they the Ladybird "tell-a-tale" books? I had loads of them in the 1980s.

"In this story, when you hear this sound (bleep), turn the page."
"When the music stops, please turn the cassette over to side 2." (The music being Beethoven's 6th, accompanying Snow White, very fitting for the sad scenes.)

@itswonkylampshade I had the Fisher Price record player too.

Sindy swimming pool hand's down. Although I also loved my very first "grown up" dressing table.

Cherryrainbow · 14/12/2019 21:18

One of those pink electronic secret diaries, do u know the one I mean? It was awesome. I remember it would show me daily horoscopes and stuff like that. I used it everyday for ages.

TheScottishPlay · 14/12/2019 21:22

Yellow Snoopy Watch. Loved it.

The Mamod traction engine was pretty good. It ran on meths, produced a lot of steam, and you could take it for walks with a steering rod. It smelled of hot oil .... actually, I can't think why I ever got rid of it. I want another!

poseysbobblehat · 14/12/2019 21:28

Sindy House, best thing ever

Divebar · 14/12/2019 21:32

A Walkman which was very new and cool at the time and totally unexpected. After I got my pony at 13 from my mum and step dad for my birthday my dad bought me a horse rug and riding boots for Christmas. It was my best present because my dad is very Victorian and not inclined to spend money on me... it was a little bit overwhelming.

A sledge with a soft bodied doll sitting on it
The Sindy house pictured above. My Grandpa was good at woodwork and made the bedroom furniture for it and my Grandma sewed bedcovers Star
The year Santa brought an Amstrad computer and wrote me a message on the screen.

fedup21 · 14/12/2019 21:42

A soft bodied, hard-headed baby doll that looked just a real baby-I must have been about 8?

A doll’s house-that was fab

I wanted a Mr Frosty but never got one!

Knucklehead101 · 14/12/2019 22:43

I’d be very interested to hear if anyone ever got a Mr Frosty? I was desperate for one. I vividly remember getting a little cot with a tiny tears doll all wrapped up in crepe paper. And a red plastic tea set that came in a giant box!

Teddy2541 · 17/12/2019 21:29

@wanderings yes they where what I had. I loved them. Not sure if the tag worked I don't know how to use it lol

I forgot the Playdough Barber Shop with the 'worms' coming out the heads as hair!

Fuzzy Felt
Matchbox bean dolls
Weird Avon solid perfume in bottles with animal heads (does anyone know what I'm referring to?)

A bike

Walkie talkies

Roller skates

This little red house with blue windows that opened up and there was a mouse in it. I don't remember much else about it but I remember loving it.

PlatinumBrunette · 17/12/2019 23:51

I remember only two really special gifts from my childhood Christmases. I remember no toys at all, but was thrilled by...
An electric blanket and a duvet! (Previously only had horrible sheets, blankets and an eiderdown)
My bedroom was literally freezing and these were the best gifts ever!

reflectivebubble · 17/12/2019 23:53

A tape
Recorder and ' now that's what I call music1' I'll never forget it ❤️

Tartyflette · 18/12/2019 00:00

A chemistry set so I could make 'potions.' It had test tubes and copper sulphate crystals in it and lots of other stuff.
A magic set with a magician's wand which disappointed me greatly - it wasn't really magic and didn't do anything, ☺️
A doll with pale, silvery green hair that had been sort of inserted into the head, like plugs. This was a new thing, up till then I only had dolls with glued-on wigs. You could cut and style the hair which I loved doing si much that the poor doll ended up with a crew cut.

There was a big thread here on Mr Frostys last year, it seems that half the MN population longed for one but didn't get one, and the other half got one and soon realised how crap it was I was in the latter 😂
