What were some of your favourite Xmas presents you got as a child? A little trip down memory lane.

Mine were:
A tinker bell toad stall house/playset
Barrie stamps (stamps with Barbie figurines on top)
Polly Pocket treehouse (magnetic one)
A DS lite
A tub of Crayola felt tips that were chunky
Jane Eyre/Wuthering Heights on dvd
An original Jessie doll from Toy Story 2

May think of some more! Bonus if you guess how old I am Grin

Ooh, and a proper little typewriter! There was a piece of paper in it with a message typed from Father Christmas - I remember really believing it was from him!

AlletrixLeStrange · 11/12/2019 07:21

Some kind of hook a duck board game. None of my four siblings ever wanted to play with me so I used to play myself Grin I loved it anyway!
Animal hospital! I had all the animal hospital!

I always REALLY wanted Sylvanian Families but my parents always said it was too expensive it was, I was silently furious when they started buying it for their granddaughter

QuestionableMouse · 11/12/2019 07:22

Model horses. I played with them for hours. Had a mare and foal set from Hornby with a doll but no one believes me!

totorosfluffytummy · 11/12/2019 17:26

My older brother always got the most exciting presents. Evel Knievel figure on his bike that you put on an accessory, wound up and he shot off - I loved that.
My favourite present was the Petite 990 typewriter.

Laniakea · 11/12/2019 17:35

A Sindy house! Just like this one Grin I had dungarees like that too, except they were bottle green with gold laces on the side!

Noddy trike!!!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/12/2019 17:56

My grandad made my sister and I a wooden market stall, which my nana then filled with mini jars of jam, mini boxes of cereal etc etc. It was incredible.

He also made us wooden caravans for our Sindy dolls.

Of things that were bought, I vividly remember getting a tape recorder - must've been about 10. I still remember my excitement on opening it.

Thebookswereherfriends · 11/12/2019 18:05

The two that stand out for me are A la carte kitchen and a snoopy rug. I still remember the terrible advert for a la carte kitchen where the child makes breakfast for mum and dad that consists of baked beans on Swiss roll! 😂

Bogoffrain · 11/12/2019 18:07

My little Pony Dream castle

bingowingsmcgee · 11/12/2019 18:11

Mine is a stocking filler that I remember being overjoyed about: A massive chunky pritt-stick, around which my mum had fastened tubes of different coloured glitter in a big rubber band. I was just made up.

Nandocushion · 11/12/2019 18:12

A rescue kitten. It was all well planned out, from my parents, who I'd apparently managed to convince after months of asking. I'll never forget going to find my stocking and hearing those little cries from inside a basket.

She lived to the ripe old age of 21 and transformed my dad from a cat hater to the soppiest, most indulgent cat lover ever.

AConvivialHost · 11/12/2019 18:13

A Paddington stationery set

Disfordarkchocolate · 11/12/2019 18:14

A bike. My best adult present was a bike too.

PotteringAlong · 11/12/2019 18:16

My little pony nursery

it was this one and I loved it

PotteringAlong · 11/12/2019 18:17

I never had an a la carte kitchen and I really really wanted one!

babyinthacorner · 11/12/2019 18:18

My husband and I had this conversation just last night! Mine were:

My little pony ballet school
Lights Alive
Barbie jacuzzi
And....

TEDDY RUXPIN!

RenardeRenarde · 11/12/2019 18:21

@QuestionableMouse was it the Hornby Cassy mare and foal set? I had that too, I think the horse was called Conker?!

My strongest Christmas memory is of my parents writing me a letter “from Father Christmas” to say my present was too big to wrap but to check in the Wendy house. It was a new bike, the present was nice but the “discovery” was the fun bit

marchingonwithmother · 11/12/2019 19:42

@PotteringAlong did you have a Mr Slushy cause I'd have swapped you. I was desperate for one

QuestionableMouse · 11/12/2019 19:57

@RenardeRenarde yes! The chestnut mare and foal. My Cassy doll broke in half and I was gutted. She spent the rest of her life in an improvised back brace to stop her falling apart 😂😂😂

AuntyElle · 11/12/2019 20:11

3littlemincemeatpies, that is so lovely and so touching.

superfandango · 11/12/2019 20:50

Thank you for this thread OP Smile Thinking about my own answer has actually reminded me how many of my Christmas memories aren't actually based on the presents but on the atmosphere and time spent with loved ones - it's taken a bit of the pressure off me and made me feel better about The Twitch that we should get more for the DC.

My stand out gifts were:
Slumber Party Barbie - she had a soft body and if she had purple eyeshadowed eyelids that you had to apply a wet flannel to to make her "wake up" Grin
A real typewriter - my mum and dad had an electric typewriter which I always wanted to play with and was never allowed to, and then one year Santa brought me my very own one that was beautiful and shiny and red. I can't even imagine the profound things I'd have been typing on it at 5 years old Grin

One thing I coveted that I never had was a Post Office set. I loved gazing at it in the Argos catalogue!

VinoEsmeralda · 11/12/2019 20:52

A book I really wanted (pinkeltje)
A jumper my mum knitted with my favourite horse on.

Emmapeeler1 · 11/12/2019 20:57

The My Little Pony show stable. That was a good Christmas.

And a Lion hot water bottle cover from Boots which I still have!

LoonyLunaLoo · 11/12/2019 20:57

No one else has guessed your age so I’ll go first! You’re a bit younger than me having DVDs and DS lites but you still had Polly Pocket and Tamagotchi so we’re in the same era. I’m going to say 27?

Chocs44 · 11/12/2019 21:03

Omg I would've loved that Cindy house!!! Very jealous!!! My best present was a top loading tape player second hand but I didn't care!
