Noooo!! Controversially (and much to DH's disgust) I always say I'd take a well roasted parsnip over a roast potato...

I'll get my coat.

That’s so funny we are also having prawn and melon with lime as a starter!

Venison, red cabbage, roasties, spinach, stuffing

Chessboard with black grapes. A big bowl of pigs in blankets with mustard.

Spacerader · 08/12/2019 22:43

Bacon rolls and plenty of Buck’s Fizz for breakfast before the presents.

We have no starter, because it would ruin the main.

Food is then
Chicken (we all hate turkey)
And either a beef or pork joint
A ham joint cooked the delia way (the ham is then used up over the coming week)
Roast potatoes
Cauliflower cheese
Creamy leeks
Roasted carrots and parsnips
Peas
Pigs in blankets
Yorkshire pudding
Stuffing (dp is the only one who likes it so he decides a few days before what one he wants)

And a choice of cranberry and mint sauce (mint sauce has to be offered or my son would not be happy, he puts it on everything)

Food is usually around 1-2pm.

Dessert is then laid out for around 6pm
Usually a pavlova and some sort of chocolate dessert (no Christmas cake or mince pies because they are vile)

Then it’s a free for all and everyone can go crazy in the Christmas chocs.
