Melon and prawn starter

Main event:
Turkey
Ham

Carrot and swede mash
Red cabbage

Christmas pudding with thick cream

All followed by a lie down in a darkened room. What's everyone else eating?

We’re having a couple of roast chickens and steaks and prawns on the bbq, lots of different salads and roast potatoes followed by a huge fruit pavlova..... we’re in a hot country for Christmas... it’s not right!

AwkwardSquad · 09/12/2019 05:38

Haven’t made our minds up but it might be a chestnut and squash roast with lots of roast veggies, roasted sprouts with almonds, cranberry sauce and gravy.

AwkwardSquad · 09/12/2019 05:40

One too many ‘roasted’ there...

Cockadoodledooo · 09/12/2019 06:53

We don't do the roast thing, just tray after tray of 'party food' shovelled into the oven as and when we get hungry, with nibbles and chocolates to graze on as well.
Probably smoked salmon and scrambled egg for breakfast, washed down with something cold and fizzy (diet coke!).

Am working 3pm to 9pm (NHS) so hoping dh and the kids leave me something Grin

Cockadoodledooo · 09/12/2019 06:55

Can never have too many roasted things @AwkwardSquad Grin

M0reGinPlease · 09/12/2019 07:03

No idea yet,not thought of it.
Probably turkey,roast potatoes,peas,carrots,sprouts,stuffing and gravy.

Breakfast is what we have the rest of the year,a mug of tea and some toast.
Tea time is usually just a mix of ''party food'' or a turkey sandwich.

lifeisgoodagain · 09/12/2019 07:14

Turkey (or something covered in pomegranate seeds from Lidl), roast spuds, mixed roast veg (roast parsnips, carrots, sweet potatoes, onions and beetroot), mashed swede, Brussels, chipolatas (maybe demand from daughter, I hate pigs in blankets too salty), sausagemeat stuffing, sage and onion stuffing (for vegans), cranberry and orange relish (my own) and whatever gravy is in the cupboard (not my own). For pud it's Christmas pudding and brandy butter or whatever my mother brings, hopefully apple pie, vegan ice cream is already bought

ItWentInMyEye · 09/12/2019 07:18

We're having Greek food for lunch! Souvlaki, spanakopita etc.

Erismorn · 09/12/2019 07:27

Breakfast will be pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. Then picky bits during the day.

Dinner is Korean fried chicken, bulgogi burgers, K fries and some pork and tofu dumplings. Washed down with fizz and beer.

Pudding will probably be either profiteroles or melt in the middle chocolate puds.

Cockadoodledooo · 09/12/2019 07:39

@M0reGinPlease

Video of the Nutella tree - ds2 saw it yesterday and is insisting we make one!

Cockadoodledooo · 09/12/2019 07:41

Forgot. We did buy one of these the other day - just add roast potatoes! But that will be NYD lunch because nobody has to work.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 09/12/2019 09:41

Relatively simple. Can't be doing with umpteen different veg, too much last-minute faff.

No starter, but canapés, usually M&S, an hour or so before dinner at about 5.

Turkey
Lots of home made pigs in blankets
Homemade sage, onion and best sausagemeat stuffing,
Loads of crispy roast potatoes
Roast parsnips
Carrots and sprouts
Cranberry sauce
Proper gravy made with roasting tin juices, plus turkey-giblet stock simmered up the day before.

After a short break, my own Christmas pudding, flamed with 50/50 brandy and vodka. Lights off in the dining room just before I bring it in! Brandy butter and cream.
Cheeseboard and grapes, satsumas, etc.

MysweetAudrina · 09/12/2019 09:50

Seafood platter for starter.

Turkey, ham, roasties, carrot, parsnip, cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, sprouts, pigs, stuffing, cranberry sauce.

Trifle and salted caramel sticky pudding for dessert.

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 09/12/2019 16:59

@M0reGinPlease we’ll be doing this one from BOSH

M0reGinPlease · 09/12/2019 17:21
