Dh has taken it upon himself to do the Xmas shopping this year because “I go over the top”.

He’s gone for quality over quantity.

Dd11 has-

Holister jumper
Vans
2 x tshirts
Anne frank book
Reed defuiser
Starbucks mug
£10 Starbucks voucher
Another book
Wreck it journal
Cajigprahy set

Ds10 has-

Nintendo Ds which he wanted
Nintendo game
Youtuber merch
A book about space
Guinness world record book
Nasa top
£10 Greggs voucher 😂
Another Ds game

Dd3

Barbie set
Cinderella doll
Book
Pants
(Not finished her yet)

I’m in charge of stockings and no idea what to get?!

I want to get the exploding kitten game for ds.

I’m worried they will be disappointed 😩

It’s most of their stuff off their wish lists

If they are disappointed with that lot then there’s something wrong

NerrSnerr · 05/12/2019 13:45

That sounds like plenty. That'll have stockings on top too.

EmGee · 05/12/2019 13:45

Why will they be disappointed if you've got them what's on their wish list?

I think the list of presents is great - lucky kids. No need to go mad. Get useful stuff for stockings not just plastic tat for the sake of getting something - socks, paperback, pens, something edible, dvd etc.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 05/12/2019 13:46

Wow. Any child disappointed with that lot needs their heads read. It sounds like your DH has done a great job. My DC are getting a fraction in comparison and I know they’ll be delighted with their haul.

Chilledout11 · 05/12/2019 13:47

Looks great and all very nice gifts

Foxton20 · 05/12/2019 13:48

I don’t think they will be disappointed at all, but the guilt is killing me lol.

I’m not buying plastic tat, I was thinking a portable charger for Dd, a bloody iPad charger each, some socks, lip balms etc

OP posts:
Hoppinggreen · 05/12/2019 13:49

Guilt about what?
Seriously OP, it’s supposed to be fun not cause guilt or stress

Falafel19 · 05/12/2019 13:50

Guilt for what? That is absolutely loads.

Sirzy · 05/12/2019 13:52

If that is classed as not much then DS must be seriously hard done by!

ColdRainAgain · 05/12/2019 13:53

That lot plus a stocking is loads, once DDs list is topped up to a similar number of gifts as her older siblings.
Dont stress, dont twitch, and have a fabulous christmas.

PS stockings: abook/magazine, something to eat, some toiletries, the little bits you've already identified. Sounds amazing.

Foxton20 · 05/12/2019 13:53

I don’t know, I’m used to going crazy which isn’t good I know. Last year I cut down drastically and they were over the moon.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 05/12/2019 13:54

My DS is the same age as yours. If it helps ideas wise, for his stocking he’s getting...
Alarm clock
Football shorts
Bike wheel led
Hype toiletries set
Wallet
Book
Chocolate orange
Gaming socks
Hand shadows book (!)
Brussel sprout juggling balls

fluffedupferretonsteroids · 05/12/2019 13:54

I've got a ninky nonk for my son that's one and that's all I'm getting him. Starting as I mean to go on so hes not too spoilt at xmas.

I'm sure they will be happy with what you have got, I do feel guilty too but that's normal. Theres too much pressure at xmas.

Elbeagle · 05/12/2019 13:56

It all looks lovely, and absolutely plenty.

Ragwort · 05/12/2019 13:58

Why on earth would you feel ‘guilty’ about this? Hmm

Teachermaths · 05/12/2019 13:59

Absolute stealth boast there op.

rhubarbcrumbles · 05/12/2019 14:00

If they are disappointed with that then I'd be thinking they were spoilt.

Here there will be:

3 t-shirts
1 pair of gloves
2 books
1 pair of trousers
1 playstation game
some sweets/chocolate

and they'd best be pleased with it, they are only a bit older than your eldest.

Berrylove · 05/12/2019 14:03

Sorry but I can’t stop laughing at the greggs voucher 😂

For older daughters stocking you could put some cute cheap jewellery in there? Maybe from Claire’s or new look?

Foxton20 · 05/12/2019 14:05

Stealth boast ? Pretty sure if I was boasting I would put a lot more expensive presents on the list 😂

I think I was worried because they won’t be getting anything from anyone else really. We don’t really have much family and only one set of grandparents who have renewed our English heritage membership as a present for us all.

OP posts:
Foxton20 · 05/12/2019 14:06

@Berrylove honestly think the Greggs voucher will be his best present 😂

OP posts:
TeenPlusTwenties · 05/12/2019 14:06

looks plenty.

Teachermaths · 05/12/2019 14:07

Foxton we must live in totally different worlds then. Your list of presents is very expensive and a lot more than I could/would give.

gamerchick · 05/12/2019 14:10

I'd be irritated slightly that son got more spent on him than the girls.

A DS and 2 games? Get the chargers.

Lovemusic33 · 05/12/2019 14:10

I think many of us start to panic that we haven’t bought enough, I know I do but I know in previous year when I have gone out and bought extra those items haven’t hardly been touched and the dc’s would have been fine with just half of what I’ve bought.

I think many of us are being more careful this year not to buy tat or things to “bulk out the pile”.

I like my dc’s to have quite a few presents but now they are getting older they really don’t need as many. Most of the things I have bought them are clothes items that I would have bought them anyway but I have bought them slightly better than what I would have bought (for example, dd has a hype hoodie when usually she would have one from primark or next), she also needed a new dressing gown and a onesie so I bought her these as gifts. All the items I have bought are wearable or things that will get used all year (Lego for dd2).

People are always going to say “that’s plenty” when you post on mumsnet unless you say your child’s getting a satsuma and a colouring book.

I think your dh has done a good job with the shopping. You can get some nice little bits for stockings (my dd1 says the stocking is the best bit).

gamerchick · 05/12/2019 14:12

3 t-shirts
1 pair of gloves
2 books
1 pair of trousers
1 playstation game
some sweets/chocolate

So 2 books, playstation game and some sweets? Clothes aren't presents, they're an obligation as a parent to provide for our kids.
