Dh has taken it upon himself to do the Xmas shopping this year because “I go over the top”.

He’s gone for quality over quantity.

Dd11 has-

Holister jumper
Vans
2 x tshirts
Anne frank book
Reed defuiser
Starbucks mug
£10 Starbucks voucher
Another book
Wreck it journal
Cajigprahy set

Ds10 has-

Nintendo Ds which he wanted
Nintendo game
Youtuber merch
A book about space
Guinness world record book
Nasa top
£10 Greggs voucher 😂
Another Ds game

Dd3

Barbie set
Cinderella doll
Book
Pants
(Not finished her yet)

I’m in charge of stockings and no idea what to get?!

I want to get the exploding kitten game for ds.

I’m worried they will be disappointed 😩

It’s most of their stuff off their wish lists

I am quite surprised at an 11 year old going to Starbucks twice a week. I am by no means hard up but going out for coffee is a treat for me not just something to do twice a week, and she must have generous pocket money to be able to afford to go so regularly. (& yes I do have a teenager but he is a careful spender like me Grin).

@MarleneandBoycie sorry if my spelling offends you. I’m sorry that I’m dyslexic.

I actually can’t believe someone would be so rude.

Foxton - things have got a bit silly on here, don’t take it to heart. Have a good Christmas with your children Xmas Smile

Clothes aren't presents, they're an obligation as a parent to provide for our kids.

Basic clothes aren't presents really but extra ones are. My dc have sandals, trainers and school shoes but fashion boots or party shoes would be a gift. My dds love clothes more than toys so they're getting little leather jackets as part of their Christmas present. As a parent I provide a winter coat and a rain coat but a fashion coat is different imo. They also always get knickers in their stocking but it's a very small part of the stocking. Some dc like clothes - mine are really into fashion.

Anyway, re the op, I think that's fine and it's best not to get carried away. Enjoy.

I remember when my step daughter was small and she got a pair of Barbie boots for Christmas from her mum, she was so pleased with them and loved them more than any toys she got, she was only 4 or 5. She’s now 20 and probably still remembers her boots 🤣.

My 15 year old dd said to me today “I’m not too bothered about getting lots of presents because it’s a waste, I would rather have just the things I have asked for and then cash from family”. I’m now thinking I have bought too much. I think we worry too much, kids just want the main thing they have asked for, not piles of stuff they won’t use.
