A few years ago, I got 25 little paper bags from IKEA - clearly meant to be an advent calendar thing. He could wrap stuff in tissue paper and do it that way, maybe?

andi76 · 14/11/2019 21:03

@username2020 - I bought a box full of point horror from eBay a year or so ago. My (now) 12 year old has enjoyed ploughing her way through them (then asked for one or two specific titles too). So I don't think they're too out of date.

EmGee · 14/11/2019 21:24

If anyone has a Boden 10 or 15£ off a 30£ spend, please PM me. I never get any codes from Jonnie!! Thank you in advance

Thegirlhasnoname · 14/11/2019 21:41

Justonedayatatime11 i got 1 box of 6 slices and a box of squares. Can’t remember the flavours though so I’m in for a surprise. Grin

The Joy Outlet have some really good savings on accessories and little novelty stocking fillers

noodledoodler · 14/11/2019 21:47

If anyone has been watching the Scrawl game, the price has come down again on amazon, its £16.95 at the min

dramalamma · 14/11/2019 21:55

@notyourholidaydick I'm afraid NT have cottoned on to that now - New Zealand have been forced to triple their overseas price from this year! I've always done it this way - am going to get my friend who lives in NZ to do it for me this year.... tho I hear Bermuda is still cheap!

Smileatthesmallthings · 14/11/2019 22:01

@PinkDaydreams The crafty giraffe have a BOGOF offer on personalised wooden tree decorations , engraved initials and other designs, that could work attached to a stocking?

GraceQuirrell · 14/11/2019 22:04

@Sux2buthen Thanks for the Xmas Tree Hat link - I had no idea how much I needed one of those until I saw it Grin just hope it fits my head when it arrives lol

NotPennysBoat · 14/11/2019 22:06

Don't want to piss on your parade but you do realise that the NT is a charity? So using sneaky ways to get membership is keeping money from an English charity which preserves our own special places. Just something to bear in mind.... Back to the jingle bells and Edgar now, as you were!

Re the reduced Lindt advent calendars In Sainsbury’s it was the one with the chocolate reindeer and Santa normally £12

McSleepy · 14/11/2019 22:15

@1stTimeMama @Turnedouttoes just messaged you both a 20% off m&s code

Purpleheadgirl · 14/11/2019 22:19

Re the NT you can pay monthly which means you still pay them the same but already out the cost. Don't think it is costing us anymore than a one off payment. There are often offers from them where you get free gift such as a cafe voucher and /or money off

Purpleheadgirl · 14/11/2019 22:20

Spread the cost that should have said!

NotYourHolidayDick · 14/11/2019 22:28

notpenny, I understand the point. However, I would not, and never would have, been able to afford to pay for English membership. It just wouldn't have been doable for us. By doing it this way, I'm still paying money to charity (albeit overseas but many people donate to foreign causes), and NT still benefit from us buying ice creams/lunches etc. So I don't feel too bad ☺

imsorryiasked · 14/11/2019 22:29

Pack of 20 bamboo reusable make up remover pads down to £7.47 on Amazon.

George22 · 14/11/2019 22:41

Tinc advent calendars are half price tonight. I had one in my basket and hadn’t checked out so I was very relieved!!

elsielegallez · 14/11/2019 22:53

@Letsbegin - thanks for the voucher - I bought a lovely bundle of things for my son (with the additional 25/15% discount and free postage as well!)

LazyDaisey · 14/11/2019 23:01

Our generation camper for £70 at tk Maxx site.

Word of warning - it’s HUGE in real life. Sells for over £100 in our local toy store.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 14/11/2019 23:22

Got to agree re paying the going rate of the English NT membership. We’re a family of 5 and pay under £11 a month, which is bargainous. If anyone can afford the cost of their extortionate ice creams and cafe prices, they should try and pay the NT the membership fee.

In other news, I just wanted to say to anyone who missed it that the yankee candles bundles website is amazing. If you sign up to emails you get to hear about bargain of the day, which is even cheaper than their already cheap prices. It also is free delivery! I’ve already bought quite a few bits since learning about it a few threads ago. So thank you, whoever it was!

Two M&S 20% off codes:

CYVB-VXCE-9ENE-BML4
CYY4-HM84-WUXC-BMWE

I've had a few from people on here so it's nice to be able to give back!

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 14/11/2019 23:31

@XmassyMumsy re Filofaxes. if you are £££ then Aspinal or one of the luxe leather brands do a nice one.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 15/11/2019 00:09

gaggiagirl I was desperate to find the Hogwarts express advent calendar, found 2 left in Oxford st Primark. both had paint defects and misnumbered doors. the quality was shocking, I wouldn't pay the £15 let alone over the odds on eBay.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 15/11/2019 00:29

username how old is your dd? the Mrs perrigrines home for peculiar children series is good, or the darren shan cirque du freak (vampires) I could recommend lots of supernatural books but thriller/horror I'm not so sure! I read horror but not teenage ones. I used to love point horror books (although a few did cause lots of nightmares... probably shouldn't have read them at 11!) Neil Gaiman is pretty good, he wrote Coraline and some other teen ones, but does adult too so investigate which are suitable.

thaegumathteth · 15/11/2019 06:28

Has anyone used the tinc site lately? I keep going on and trying to add things to my basket but it won't let me which is annoying. I want a bargain water bottle damn it!
