Who's already started on their 'treats' for Christmas?
I like to start buying a few things with the weekly shop and whenever I see anything on offer that we always eat, means it doesn't seem as bad looking at the receipt discovering I've spent £££s on junk!

So far I've got:
2 x Cheeselets (Treeslets) caddys
2 x Victoria biscuits box
1 x Cadburys & oreo biscuit box
2 x Matchmakers
3 x Chocolate Oranes
1 x box of chocolate covered lebkuchen
1 x Quality Street bag

What's your favourite Christmas treat? Grin

I bought 2 tubs of cheese footballs... Just because I couldn't find any last year!

Prob will leave everything else until a bit nearer.

Plumpciousness · 21/10/2019 12:11

Yes, but I've already eaten them! Mince pies and Lidl's chocolate covered lebkuchen.

shumway · 21/10/2019 12:12

Sainsburys salted caramel and apple mincemeat.

Shitfuckoh · 21/10/2019 12:14

I'm avoiding the cheese footballs for now, they disappear in my house!

@plumpciousness you have to eat mince pies this time of year, they wouldn't last til Christmas Grin I should have 4 caddys of treeslets but 2 didn't survive!

I keep seeing things I want to buy... we are not here for Christmas, away for whole of December. I'm sad I can't put any decorations up or buy stuff Sad

youngestisapsycho · 21/10/2019 12:25

I have bought some nice tins of biscuits to take with us for gifts tho...

Shitfuckoh · 21/10/2019 12:30

@youngstisapsycho Oh no! Shock Are you able to decorate where you're going? Sad

Kitchen roll 😂

Was in M&S earlier and they had Christmas kitchen roll 😂 they had loo roll too but thought I was pushing it a bit 😂

Notyetthere · 21/10/2019 12:55

Tesco is now stocking the £20 goose from the freezer. I had mine delivered with the food shop last week.

DH bought a panettone from Waitrose but I have already used that in a bread and butter pudding which is already more than half eaten.

MustardScreams · 21/10/2019 13:01

If I buy treats now I’ll eat them all before Christmas! I have lots in my Christmas orders though.

Whitecandle · 21/10/2019 13:17

@shumway salted caramel and apple mince meat??😱😍

youngestisapsycho · 21/10/2019 13:29

@Shitfuckoh we going to in-laws in NZ... dont think they do much decorating... I will make sure we have a tree or something up at least! A warm, sunny Christmas just isn't right Sad

TrickyD · 21/10/2019 13:31

DH picked up loads of chestnut purée and whole vacuum packed chestnuts this morning. Always useful over Christmas and the shops often run out.

Ninkaninus · 21/10/2019 13:35

So far we’ve bought two boxes of Aldi’s chocolate and nut florentines and one tin of Danish butter cookies.

We’re not getting a lot this year (only four of us for Christmas and we’ve decided to scale things down by quite a bit this year), so there’s not a lot more to buy:

Lindor orange truffles
Niederegger marzipan chocolates
Ferrero Rocher (my daughters have to have these)
Aldi Dark chocolate truffles
Rum truffle cakes (my daughter’s special request)

Shortbread biscuits - small
Chocolate biscuit selection box - small

Mince pies
Christmas cake (Just a small one for my OH)

And then the individual elements for the Christmas Eve buffet we do (basically just a selection of canapés):

Vol-au-vent cases
Blinis
German grain bread
Cured salmon (gravadlax or similar)
Crab mousse
Quail’s eggs
Caviar
Duck liver pâté
Cheese twists
Crackers, cheeses and chutneys

Christmas breakfast:
Pandoro
Smoked salmon, eggs, toast

Christmas dinner:
Goose (frozen)
Red cabbage (pre-made, from M&S)
Sage & onion stuffing (dried)
Potatoes
Sprouts, carrots, parsnips
Individual puddings

Gammon joint and marmalade

Bailey’s
Cognac - Rémy Martin 1738
Whisky - Aberlour 16 years
Prosecco and orange juice for Christmas breakfast
A good wine to go with dinner

We’ll pick up the majority of that, including the frozen goose, in our weekly shop(s) over the next month or so, and then we’ll do a dedicated Christmas shop a few days before Christmas to pick up the perishable items.

SerafinaPekkalasbroomstick · 21/10/2019 13:38

I've got my Christmas cake in the oven, only about 3 weeks late... can't buy any chocolate etc as I'd eat it Grin

FinnBalorsAbs · 21/10/2019 13:41

I’ve bought the usual half price Miniature Heroes and Celebrations Tesco does at this point in the year but otherwise nothing yet.

I’m totally putting cheese footballs on my shopping list next week if they’re available though - I love them and last year couldn’t find them anywhere!

Topbird29 · 21/10/2019 13:45

Got baileys on my next tesco order - currently £12 for 1l. Think morrisons might also have it on offer (but not one near us). I refuse to pay full price for it!! Have bought ferrero rocher and Elizabeth Shaw mint crisps. And Cadbury xmas friends biscuits as we use these in our advent calendar

Shitfuckoh · 21/10/2019 13:53

I've just shifted all the food I've bought ready on to the very top shelf - meaning even I can't get to it without having to get a stool or chair to stand on. I'm hoping it'll be too much hassle if I get tempted! Grin

@youngestisapsycho I don't think it would feel like Christmas to me if I was somewhere warm & sunny! Hopefully you have a lovely time though.

youngestisapsycho · 21/10/2019 14:12

DH hasnt had a Xmas with his parents in 20 years.... and the whole family will be there so it will be rather special... BBQ tho.... no proper xmas dinner! I am goung to make some pigs in blankets and roast potatoes tho!

elQuintoConyo · 21/10/2019 14:14

No, nothing. I still have a bottle of Faileys in the fridge from Christmas 2017 Grin

Faileys = fake Baileys.

We haven't passed Halloween yet or had roast chestnuts. I only stopped wearing sandals on Saturday Shock I can't think of matchmakers and pannetone!

Autumnfresh · 21/10/2019 14:42

I can’t or I will have to replace them as often as I shop between now and Christmas. I just can’t have anything tempting including those disgusting chocolate coins! 🤷‍♀️

Shitfuckoh · 21/10/2019 16:54

@Autumnfresh Grin do you have a mouse that likes to eat the good stuff too?!

Want to get chocolate baileys for me this year, would usually buy as gifts, but I'm refusing to pay the price Tesco are asking for the small bottle!

BabyMoonPie · 21/10/2019 17:06

Our Christmas treat box looks like a good night in:

Baileys
Tins of Celebrations and Quality St
Chocolate covered Oreos
Mint truffles
White Toblerone

DD has her own bag with an advent calendar and a tin of Freddo and Friends. It's hidden from her (nearly) 3 year old eyes!

More sensible things (cranberry sauce, crackers, stuffing etc) will be added over the next few weeks and then the last shop before Christmas will just be fresh stuff

WagtailRobin · 21/10/2019 17:17

Started the sweet stuff but a long way to go, so far we have bought;

Victoria box biscuits
M&S Belgian selection
Celebrations tubX2
Heroes tubX2
White chocolate coins
Lindt chocolate figures
Bailey's chocolates
Lily O'Briens collection

RoseMartha · 21/10/2019 17:32
