Who's already started on their 'treats' for Christmas?
I like to start buying a few things with the weekly shop and whenever I see anything on offer that we always eat, means it doesn't seem as bad looking at the receipt discovering I've spent £££s on junk!

So far I've got:
2 x Cheeselets (Treeslets) caddys
2 x Victoria biscuits box
1 x Cadburys & oreo biscuit box
2 x Matchmakers
3 x Chocolate Oranes
1 x box of chocolate covered lebkuchen
1 x Quality Street bag

What's your favourite Christmas treat? Grin

Nothing yet it's October 😆😆 actually my best laid plans have been pulled up to the railings by I'll health so i.m virtual planning. I have bought some of the big tubs but to go in the general sweet jar. I like the Sainsbury bakery mince pies. Twiglets. Jus-rol l cinnamon buns.....I should stealth buy and hide things but I end up with a trolley full of nice things and ignore any judgey looks

NoWordForFluffy · 21/10/2019 17:59

Yep, I'm almost done, actually. I've got all the crisps, Pringles, peanuts, cheese twists, crackers etc. Plus plenty of biscuits. Alcohol (loads!).

I've made mincemeat and have plenty of ingredients for the pastry as well as other sweet treats.

I've also got a Booths' order placed and will get just a few bits (party food, fresh bits, dips etc) from Sainsbury's on Christmas week.

Oh, I've a ham and side of salmon in the freezer, plus smoked salmon too.

I've also got part-baked rolls.

So much already bought!

TheAnnoyingSatsuma · 21/10/2019 18:12

Only the Lindt figures and some other Belgian wrapped chocs for the advent calendar - I put 3 pieces in each day, so 75 in total.

Itstheprinciple · 22/10/2019 14:32

I've bought some pigs in blankets! They're in the freezer. I bought them as part of my brexit stockpiling. If we have no deal it'll be chicken soup, tinned tomatoes and pigs in blankets for Christmas dinner!

Nabel · 22/10/2019 14:34

I have bought and eaten a tub of Cadbury Heroes Grin

I8toys · 22/10/2019 14:57

Everytime I go into Markses now I buy one item. I've got 3 tins of shortbread, some thick chocolate ho ho biscuits, the snow globe gin, some salt and pepper twists.

Got my eye on a yard of Jaffa cakes and chocolate sprouts and potatoes. Oh and the Belgian biscuit tins.

AthollPlace · 22/10/2019 15:02

I keep buying sweets and eating them. Wish I hadn’t bought a bottle of Baileys because I’m tempted to open it every single night!

Willowfrost · 22/10/2019 15:16

Lots of Lidl Mini stollen Blush

wendywoopywoo222 · 22/10/2019 15:23

No because I would eat it before Christmas and have to replace. Probably more than once.

cometothinkofit · 22/10/2019 15:40

No, not yet. I made that mistake once before Wink

Had to go out and buy another lot of chocolates, biscuits and other goodies because the first lot got eaten by about mid-November Grin

Shitfuckoh · 22/10/2019 16:11

Those Christmas cheeselets may not survive this week Blush

@NoWordForFluffy I am in awe. I much prefer the pringles / crisps etc over chocolates so they defo would not last in my house!

They're on top of a cupboard, @shitfuckoh! Not easily reached. 😂😂

Worlds0kayestmum · 22/10/2019 16:30

Not treats as such but I've started adding bits to my weekly shop now as I do every year to spread the cost. So far bought
Cranberry sauce
Apple sauce
Paxo
Mustard
Matchmakers
Elf ice cream

Shitfuckoh · 22/10/2019 16:52

Elf Ice cream? Shock How did I not know about this?!

NoWordForFluffy · 22/10/2019 17:20

It's from Asda, @shitfuckoh.

CountFosco · 22/10/2019 17:22

Made my Christmas Cake and Pudding at the weekend. And got some chocolate coins at Hotel Chocolat. Rest of the food won't be bought till December, I don't really stock up on shop bought stuff, it's all about the homebaking here. Will bake some shortbread and chocolate crinkles (dairy free chocolate cookies that look really christmassy) to freeze nearer the time and buy mince pies from a local delicatessen (can make my own but theirs are amazing). MIL always sends us a tin of homemade Alfajores. Need to order booze at some point though.

MamaWeasel · 23/10/2019 20:35

Only two things so far, some matchmakers and a big tin of chocolate covered nuts & fruits. :D

ifigoup · 23/10/2019 20:44

I’ve got:

  • a tin of Twiglets
  • a panettone
  • box of fake After Eights
  • box of Turkish Delight (bleurgh, but DH likes it)
  • some lebkuchen
  • box of Monty Bojangles chocolate truffles
  • marzipan
  • jar of mincemeat
  • gammon joint in the freezer

I had a pre-Brexit panic that Christmas foods would shoot up in price so have started early!

Ninkaninus · 23/10/2019 20:59

We bought a few more things:

Turkish Delight
Tiny Melba toast squares
Small Crostini toasts (tomato and olive)

We’ll be making our own mincemeat for pies/tarts this year, will probably do that in the next couple of weeks. Decided to get some rum as well so that’s on the list for next time!

Star2015 · 23/10/2019 21:09

I’m not buying any goodies this year. I’ve lost 3 1/2 stone since March and last year we had SO much left over we definitely didn’t need it all. I’m usually given chocolates as presents from people at work and my parents will buy us a tin of quality street so I’m going to be good and refrain. By now I would have probably bought matchmakers I’ve seen on offer for £1, Terry’s chocolate orange and celebration pouches at the very least!

Mummyilovejokes1 · 23/10/2019 21:20

So far:

  • Quality street tub
  • Mint matchmakers
  • Oreo biscuit tin
  • Baileys chocolate truffles
  • Chocolate coins x 2

Think thats it so far, its all kept out of sight in the wardrobe to avoid eating it all early.

mummymayhem18 · 24/10/2019 00:55

@Mummyilovejokes1 ooh where did you get your Baileys truffles please and how much? I love them 😋😊

ifIwerenotanandroid · 24/10/2019 01:18

Just a jar of special mincemeat & some cherries in kirsch - both from M&S. The cherries make a great pud with meringues, cream & ice cream.

Mummyilovejokes1 · 24/10/2019 07:08

@mummymayhem18 i got them from B&M, they a small but nice range of Baileys treats and they were around £3.99 Smile i had them last year too and they are delish, they also have crispy rolls which are similar to the kids crispy chocolate rolls made by milkway(?) but baileys, they are very moreish!

Allthepinkunicorns · 24/10/2019 09:42

So far treat wise I have:
2xbottle of presseco
2x chocolate oranges
2x matchmakers
And a box of white chocolate covered oreos
I'm having a trip to Mark's and Spencer's next week for biscuits and anything else that takes my fancy.
I also need to visit Aldi at some point.

I have other non treaty Christmas bits as well. Food is not allowed to be touched till the 1st Dec in our house.
