Can I get away with putting my Christmas decorations up the last week of November? I can never wait!

Never before the start of December here!

But I'm a big believer in doing what makes you happy if it isn't hurting anyone else.

Morgan12 · 08/09/2019 14:02

Usually the first of December or the first weekend in December.

MrsIronfoundersson · 08/09/2019 14:14

The Saturday before Xmas!

ooooohbetty · 08/09/2019 14:17

The Saturday before Xmas day.

Cherryrainbow · 08/09/2019 14:43

Start of December, i probably won't go wild this year though, just the tree and some nice tableware and lights

TeenPlusTwenties · 08/09/2019 15:33

We do it on the last day of term as I can't cope with school and Christmas simultaneously.
Our outdoor lights go up end November though to coincide with the town lights.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 08/09/2019 15:34

3rd week in November here. It's gets a day earlier every year😂

QueenMabby · 08/09/2019 15:36

Middle of December. Not before or I’m fed up with it all before the day itself! And down on New Year’s Day...

madcatladyforever · 08/09/2019 15:39

Never. I hate Xmas. Just another day to me.

YouFellAsleeep · 08/09/2019 15:50

I do mine usually the first weekend of December. I love having it up but any earlier than that, I can’t cope with how cluttered it feels having it all out. I usually take it down a couple of days after Christmas.

proseccoaficionado · 08/09/2019 15:56

First week of December too, but it gets earlier and earlier every yearConfused My DP is joking that I'll end up putting Christmas stuff out in JulyGrin

elQuintoConyo · 08/09/2019 16:05

It was after DS' birthday as I thought there could be a clear line between birthday/Xmas, but as he's got older, he wants decorations up beforehand. His birthday lands on a 3-day holiday here, so we put them up then. End of first week of December.

They come down on 7th, last day of the holidays.

We don't have so many decs that we're tripping over them, but we have enough that it's festive! Door wreath, Welcome moose in the hall, tree, mistletoe, advent calendar, table centrepiece (DS makes something every year), bits of ivy/holly on pictures and mirrors.

I look forward to getting out decorations with memories, and the traditions of Christmas. But I'm not thinking about it yet - school hasn't even started back!

youarenotkiddingme · 08/09/2019 16:07

The first weekend in December.

Theoretically! However ds is usually competing at a swim company that weekend so it becomes the second week.

Purely because I like it to be done with time, nice meal and chill out watching a film with lights afterwards.

If I wasn't so ceremonious about it I could squeeze it in between 7am starts both days!

Pinkblueberry · 08/09/2019 16:10

Usually 30th November in the evening, so they’re up and ready in the morning on the 1st December. Tree doesn’t go up until about two weeks later though.

PeppermintSoda · 08/09/2019 16:11

First weekend of December here

danmthatonestakentryanotheer · 08/09/2019 16:14

The weekend before and it comes down on New Years Day.

jo10000 · 08/09/2019 16:56

Third weekend in November. Do it when you want, it's for you and your family, no one else.

ceilihouse · 08/09/2019 16:59

For us it's the day oh the late late toy show! Usually last Friday of November !

One2Three4Five6 · 08/09/2019 17:01

Last weekend (ish) in November.
Christmas is BIG in my house, we all LOVE it a silly amount. I like the decs up all through Dec.

It doesn't work for everybody, and I'm forever being told I'll be fed up of it before the day itself, but I never am.
I love the run up to Christmas more than the actual day.
I love coming home from work, putting on my pjs and sitting under the twinkly lights watching Home Alone, or Elf with the kids.
It's our favourite time of the year.

I know someone who puts theirs up on the 22nd, and down again on the 26/27th.
This would never ever work for me! But it suits her.
She cannot understand how I can have mine up for 4/5 weeks, but she accepts that it's how we do things in my house.
I cannot stand people who get annoyed with the way other people do things at Christmas, we all celebrate differently, and that's fine.
You do you!

If you want them up on the 30th of Nov, that's cool, if you don't want them up at all, that's also cool (I guess... lol)

PinkLacy · 08/09/2019 17:02

Always 1st December

Maykid · 08/09/2019 17:06

Hurray, I’ve found my people!

Anything Advent (so the little tree with decorations) for the 1st
Bedding goes on 1st Nov for DD and Dec for the rest of us .

Wreath on the door and Christmas oilcloth on the table on the 1st .

DS Birthday is the first week in December so nothing else til after that .

We get the decorations out of the loft and spent the weekend 10-14 days before putting them up.
Though this year I'm debating about the tree because we have two new cats who might attack it . If we do , then the lights will be static and no baubles .

I do Christmas towels and toilet paper through all of December (but doesn't everyone ? Xmas Grin )

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 08/09/2019 17:19

I decorate on the 1st, or the first weekend of December. I take decorations down on New Year's Eve - never feels right going into the new year with the decorations still up.

everythingisginandroses · 08/09/2019 17:22

Mid-month (15th - 18th), when the tree is delivered.

Barbarara · 08/09/2019 18:35

The 30th Nov is on a Saturday this year so I’ll be decorating on the last weekend of November and the first weekend in December Xmas Wink
