Pigs in blankets. How many per person?

My DM is hosting Christmas lunch but has bought a 12 pack of pigs in blankets for 6 adults and one child. Before I look like a greedy sod and take another 12 pack with me, how many per person should be served?

You're just weird unreasonably Xmas Wink
48 between 5 of us.
But I do try to cook for 2 identical meals so I don't have to do anything on Boxing Day and because everyone wants to eat it all over again!
Pigs and bread sauce are always the first to go...

Lifeofsmiley · 23/12/2018 17:15

4-6 per person

April241 · 23/12/2018 17:26

About 100 per person, yum!

Polly99 · 23/12/2018 17:34

Absolute crisis this end. Have just realised we only have 32 and we are 6 adults and 2 kids. Disaster!

Believeitornot · 23/12/2018 17:35

None! They are horrible and have no place on a christmas dinner in our house. I never heard of them until i came to MN

😱

Ds and I had pigs in blankets with mash on Friday.

Yum.

ChristmaspArti · 23/12/2018 17:37

Eleventy billion!

Oldraver · 23/12/2018 17:40

I've done three each, though they are normal size chipolatas. Got some min sausages as well.

I think it doesn't matter if you cook too many as they are delish later as well

April241 · 23/12/2018 17:42

None, far too salty. When did they become a thing, it used to just be chipolatas

I’m in my 30’s and have had them for Christmas as far back as I can remember

AnnaMariaDreams · 23/12/2018 17:43

We’re having our roast on Boxing Day and have 12 between 2 adults. Xmas Grin

RippleEffects · 23/12/2018 17:45

I've used tesco frozen party sausages this year it was three bags for £5. 60/ bag. 1 bag still in freezer 1 bags I'll do plain, one Ive wrapped in bacon. We're 16 for lunch. My eldest will eat 10 plus and my nephew will copy him, so will my youngest.

I love them cold in sandwiches and they're a good addition to a boxing day buffet.

ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn · 23/12/2018 17:46

April I’m late 30s and remember them when we were wee.

rookiemere · 23/12/2018 17:46

As many as possible. Still scarred by the Christmas when they all piled in before i'd finished carving the turkey and DNeice piled about 20 pigs in blanket on her plate without SIL saying a word, meaning there were none left by the time the serving plate made its way back to me.

So now I do at least 5 per person- leading to DNeice questioning why we had so many last year.

This year we are at my DPs who generally under cater plus my aunt and uncle are there so I am bringing many many sausages to try to bulk out the meagre rations.

Serin · 23/12/2018 17:49

I have made 200Blush
In my defence there are 12 of us and 6 of those are rugby players.

Tigger001 · 23/12/2018 18:14

@serin we are exactly the same on Christmas Day. My lovely MIL cooked about that many last year for us. There are 11 of us but 1 veggie. We still managed to finish them and could easily have eaten more. Personally, there is never enough 😄😄😢😢

ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn · 23/12/2018 18:26

Serin I bet you’ll have none left Grin

didireallysaythat · 23/12/2018 18:26

One year I just did pigs and blankets for lunch. I think we might have had more of a meal once the baby was in bed but lunch was just a bowl of pigs in blankets and a bowl of roses. And it was good.

Strawberrybelly · 23/12/2018 18:34

I've just had a panic on that we haven't got enough pigs in blankets. I've bought 24 small ones and 12 large ones for 5 of us. I might need to do an emergency dash to Asda tomorrow.

Bearbehind · 23/12/2018 18:54

There is literally no such thing as ‘too many’ pigs in blankets.

On the other hand, 12 between 6 adults and 1 child is a potential Christmas disaster 😂

Everydayisdragging · 23/12/2018 19:02

At least 63

Nononononono33 · 23/12/2018 19:08

There will be lots here. I use frozen mini sausages to make them and just got the entire bag of 40 out to defrost, thinking we’ll have some with our ham roast tomorrow (we don’t cook on Christmas Day) and some in our Boxing Day buffet. Have now just remembered we’re not having Boxing Day buffet - the bag of 40 has not gone back in the freezer. Plenty tomorrow and probably BD lunch!

Iloveantiques · 23/12/2018 19:19

I have already been eating them for probably every other meal since the beginning of December.

I will have a combination of ordinary ones and chorizo ones for my Christmas dinner.

LoonyLunaLoo · 23/12/2018 19:19

Dh has bought 3 packets so apparently 12 each 😂

mrsdaz · 23/12/2018 19:33

Only 2 each here!! Can’t over do it 😂

Babygrey7 · 23/12/2018 19:43

Can someone please tell me how to cook them?!

I al ways end up with pale sad sausages in a pool of grease or liquid,

Or slightly burned, pale underneath, in a pool of grease/liquid

And the flabby wet bacon then falls off...

It's one of those things I cannot cook Blush

fromtheshires · 23/12/2018 20:15

Cook the sausages first @Babygrey7 then work out how long to cook the bacon for, remove the oven, wrap and put back in. Perfect sausages and perfect bacon.

If you cook them on a tray with a fat trap and grill the fat will fall into the trap and you won't get soggy sausages!
