Christmas Villages - do you have one?

Can I see your Christmas village please? I love Christmas villages but only have space for a small scene. Mine is Christmas Carol themed as my houses have the names Scrooge and Marley, Cratchit, Butcher and Candles above their doors. I also have Scrooge and Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim figures. The billboard carrier is advertising a showing of A Christmas Carol.

I love these. I can waste spend many a happy hour on YouTube looking at videos of American Christmas villages. Blush

I started a collection a few years ago but I never seem to have spare cash to invest in it properly. This thread has inspired me though, I will get our bits and pieces out on the weekend.

@Figmentofimagination nope no wobbling, the base seems quite heavy. Is it the Lemax one? I've just bought it this week so maybe they've improved it?

Weathermonger · 05/12/2018 20:39

My husband set ours up last night. The bastard cat stomped all over it. Once it's fixed will post a picture.

Figmentofimagination · 05/12/2018 21:08

Maybe they have fixed it @unlurk85. Yes it is the Lemax one. We bought ours last year and placed it on top of the snow sheet, it just kept moving every time Santa went round. So we moved it so it was on the flat surface instead With something heavy leaning against it, which did help a tiny bit but I was still worried it would fall over.

@icerebel I'm using these battery operated led lights, bought them off eBay a couple of years ago, I'd dearly love Lego to sort out a decent lighting solution. I've got these stuffed in some of the houses as well. the LED wire holds its shape a little bit so you can wrap it round the branches.

Love all the villages!
We're setting ours up on the weekend so I'll post pics then.

RedToothBrush · 06/12/2018 12:30

We don't have space for a village :(

However we are planning to move in the next year and I have a feeling DH is going to dislike this awesomeness!

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 06/12/2018 12:53

I haven't put mine out yet - I love Christmas villages. Mine is a mixture of Thomas Kincade and Lilliput Lane that DM collected and has passed on to me now I have DCs and we do Christmas at our house. I also have a few Playmobil christmas market bits that I got when the DC were smaller.

I saw one set up on a ladder type shelf on Pintrest which was fantastic so my goal is to have a special set of shelves for it! I saw some fab merry-go-rounds and carousels this year but they were £100+ and I couldn't justify spending it.

Can I ask do any other collectors also love visiting Model Villages? It's a guilty pleasure of mine and whenever we go on holiday I try and find one to visit. DH and the DCs laugh and roll their eyes at me.

Ive loved looking at these. They really are great.
I'm definitely going to start a village next year .
Thanks for the inspiration 🎄

Not so much a village but I have a lovely light up Ski Lodge 'scene' that's quite large and has moving parts, and also a light up Natural History Museum which I bought as I love anything Dinosaurs/History and love NHM in London. We did have a couple of others that we bought in a half price sale that we put up a few times but recently sold them on- they sold like hot cakes and I had about 40 messages from different people wanting them on Buy and Sell (FB), so they must be getting popular.

onthenaughtystepagain · 06/12/2018 14:36

If you really want to buy then make a trip at any time of the year to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a lovely fairytale town where there's the original and enormous Kaethe Wohlfahrt shop, mind-blowing at any tine if the year! There is I believe now a branch in York on Stonegate in the former Mulberry shop.
All these posts make me want to go back to Germany and trudge the Christmas Markets!

Starlighting888 · 06/12/2018 19:02

It’s not a village more a collection of houses

@Starlighting888 ooooooh you have the carousel. Major jealousy!!!

IceRebel · 06/12/2018 19:26

musttryharder Drat I thought you were going to tell me about some amazing new Lego lights that had passed me by. They really do need to sort it out, i'll look into buying some of the ones you have though (do they come with Bellatrix) Grin

Starlighting888 · 06/12/2018 20:18

Unlurk85 I was lucky enough to get it on a trip to America 😃

Puddelchen · 07/12/2018 09:24

So many variations on a theme. Each nice in their own way.

Not on the fantastic scale and quality of all of yours but inspired by the op I bought this today in Lidl’s...£13 and I am going to enjoy finding people and other accessories to go with it .....and some fake snow for underneath . I also plan to add some different lights - however , it’s a start !

Hobbit, under my Christmas Carol village I have a white table runner bought new from eBay for under £2 which acts as snow. A lot less messy than artificial snow and is surprisingly good quality for the price.

Loving all your villages!!
It almost inspired me to dive into my Christmas cupboard to finally dig out the Christmas decs and Christmas village but have just remembered I swapped mine with dmum last year for a ceramic light up tree - I absolutely love the tree but want a village now too!!

Puddelchen · 07/12/2018 19:17

Clutter oh dear! But those ceramic light up trees are beautiful too.

Lovely villages - I walked past the "erzgebirghaus" in Berlin only yesterday and thought about getting a group of genuine Kurrende Sänger like those in the picture.

Here’s mine. I’m another one who buys a new building in the sales every January. Have loved this thread.

Clutterfreeintraining · 07/12/2018 20:33

Puddelchen - it certainly is a thing of beauty. My mother has had it for years and years and I was delighted when she suggested we swap...until now Hmm Grin
If one had just signed up to a 'no spend 2019', how would one go about acquiring a little Christmas village without blowing the bank?

Clutterfreeintraining · 07/12/2018 20:34

And if it was possible to purchase without breaking too many 'no spend' rules, where would be the best place to look for aforementioned Christmas village?

Reckles5serenade · 07/12/2018 20:36

Can I ask about the light up Natural History Museum? Where is it from/ is it still available to buy? My 9 year old would love it! 🦖
