Advent Calendars 2018 - delight or disappointment

Due to having a birthday not long before Advent starts I now have two calendars.
Yankee Candle - Day one - green tealight and holder - pine scented. I wouldnt usually buy a pine candle but it's quite pleasant.
Joe and Seph's popcorn - today was salted caramel, quite nice, not so exciting I'd buy a full size bag.

I have fortnums., the 1st item was a 75ml noble isle fireside bath and shower gel. £20 for 250ml online

Recharge your skin with the warm and spicy Fireside Luxury Bath & Shower Gel. This woody, oriental blend gently warms the skin, creating a sensual, warming bathing experience.

Fireside kindles the warm, spicy aromas of a country inn with cinnamon and cypress oil, comforting vanilla and vitamin-rich organic beetroot extract.

Fragrance Notes
Top notes: Grapefruit, Pink Pepper
Heart notes: Black Pepper, Ginger
Base notes: Oakmoss, Vanilla

First time for me with the m&s one, pleased to find Occitane shower gel today. Looking forward to tomorrow, such fun!

Brimstonenotfire · 01/12/2018 22:35

Where was the mcvities and the Kellogg’s ones from?? My DH would love those!

Curious2468 · 01/12/2018 22:45

I got Harry Potter in mine :)

Kids got a hatchimal in theirs

KTD27 · 01/12/2018 22:48

I have a liberty one thanks to lovely DH. Today was decleor cleanser just in time as I’ve run out of my usual cleanser

gaggiagirl · 01/12/2018 22:51

@Brimstonenotfire B&M had both for sale. Kelloggs was £7.99 and. Mcvities was £10 ish. Amazon have both in stock now though if you have prime you could have them by Monday.

I've nothing to add, but this is such a fun read! Since I moved out of home 12 years ago, I've not had an advent calendar, or a stocking at Christmas. Major sadface at my festive neglect!

IMissGin · 02/12/2018 00:48

I have an espa one- gorgeous bath oil today, the packaging is lovely too

snowplop · 02/12/2018 01:02

I have Espa too. Their stuff smells amazing! Also have M&S and Sainsbury's Gin calendar. I'm an advent calendar addict Blush

Beeziekn33ze · 02/12/2018 01:08

Never had one before. Love my surprise Holland and Barrett Herbal Tea one!

JustHereForThePooStories · 02/12/2018 01:17

I have the Hotel Chocolat Grand calendar.

Day one is a pretty big milk chocolate wreath that’s like chocolate biscuit cake. Very nice, but quite a dark milk chocolate at 50%.

Looking forward to the cocoa gin and salted caramel vodka, but not the cocoa teabag.

FelicityLemon · 02/12/2018 09:21

Day 2 is Snowflake cookie (pleasant coconutty scent) It looks like I get 3 of each scent; for the popcorn its caramel and Belgian Chocolate which were OK.

A biscuit and cereal calender, damn who knew! Next year.

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 02/12/2018 09:36

Ooh - I am slightly jealous of the McVities one! I had seen the Kellogg’s one last year in Tesco but alas am never in B&M so hadn’t seen the biscuit one or I might have bought it. (On a side note - at our school fair yesterday someone had a box of millions flavoured candy canes that had come from B&M - I might need to go and look because my DC prefer fruity ones and the jelly belly ones are so expensive!)

Anyway - back to the subject at hand - DC all delighted with theirs’ - Quality Street, Celebrations, Haribo & Kinder.

DH bought me the Monty Bojangles one and I am properly delighted. I am on a diet so not really eating treats at the minute, so very glad that the one treat I will be eating each day will be one of my favourite chocolate truffles. Yesterday was a hazelnut one which is one of my favourites. Today was the plain chocolate one which is nice but not as good as the nutty one. Have never tried their orange one so interested for when I get that one.

DH doesn’t eat chocolate and doesn’t really enjoy a lot of biscuits/sweets either due to problems with his taste buds so I went with a non-food one for him and got him the Haynes Retro Gaming one - got it on offer in Debenhams for £14 last week and the geek in him is chuffed to bits!

crazyhairbear · 02/12/2018 10:25

FelicityLemon · 02/12/2018 10:33

Day 2 on espa was body butter, lovely

JustLurkingAway · 02/12/2018 10:58

Have no threads for Nivea & Body Shop so I suppose I'll just pop them hereGrin

Day 2:
Nivea - Nice shower gel, cherry blossom I think it was? Smells nice!

Body Shop - Mango body butter, which also smells bloody lovelyGrin

recently · 02/12/2018 11:01

Day 1: Picture of a dog with a ball
Day 2: Picture of two birds in a nest

Happy with that! Grin

ShangriLaLaLa · 02/12/2018 11:07

John Lewis one here

Ridiculous shade of NARS lip gloss yesterday. Don’t know who it would suit.

Bit perkier today- Laura Mercier primer

Jury’s out, so far.

ButteryParsnips · 02/12/2018 11:15

recently GrinGrin Love your descriptions! Please keep posting your calendar.

Isadora2007 · 02/12/2018 11:27

@WWYDhelpplease you just reminded me I bought DH the biscuit one! And then I also remembered I bought him a mini jam one. (The biscuit one was less than a fiver when I got it from B and M and the jam one was £4.99 from amazon for 24 mini pots of assorted jams.
Shame he had our kids sick bug last night and won’t want to eat anything today- I may wait til tomorrow to give him them! 🤢

Fishandthechips · 02/12/2018 11:39

Ds has the big kinder suprise one. Day 2 was a normal size Kinder egg. This seems to be quite a lot of chocolate for breakfast, what happened to the tiny shapes that were gone in one bite! I think im quite jealous of his advent calendar...

Jungfraujoch · 02/12/2018 11:55

I have a wine advent calendar - hic! 😁👍

DelurkingAJ · 02/12/2018 13:41

All three gents (DSs1 and 2 and DH) have a different Lego one each.

Day 1: rocket, heart decoration, sand racer
Day 2, boy with 5p, guitar decoration and tbc

I have a Lindt one and was also disappointed with my snowball yesterday.

Am wondering if I might pick myself up on cheaply this week though...
