Or is it too soon to be asking Blush

Today I sorted through all our decorations and was thinking about a date.
We don’t go for a fresh tree but we will be away over Christmas so I want to put the tree up soon!

Get those twinkle lights out ✨

December. The only acceptable time! It isn’t even Bonfire Night yet!

Cachailleacha · 03/11/2018 16:04

Don't have one. We will be getting out other decorations at the beginning of December.

paxillin · 03/11/2018 16:04

December 23rd usually, it stays up until January 6th.

VenusInSpurs · 03/11/2018 16:05

Only supermarkets have decs up before the end of November.

Do you want to look like ASDA?

SoyDora · 03/11/2018 16:06

Mid December. It would lose all its needles if we put it up any sooner.
The beginning of November is pure insanity.

Bowchicawowow · 03/11/2018 16:07

About a week before Christmas.

Linnet · 03/11/2018 16:07

Tree goes up 12 days before Christmas and we take it down 12 days after.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 03/11/2018 16:07

First Sunday of Advent usually

Magik1 · 03/11/2018 16:08

Sometime during the 1st week of December to make the most of it.

SoVeryOuting · 03/11/2018 16:08

6th December.

It varies year by year, but due to various family and social commitments, it's earlier than normal this year.

Regardless, everything is being packed away on 5th January, as it is every year. [santa]

WipsGlitter · 03/11/2018 16:09

Second week in December. I'd prefer the third but am overruled. I hate decorations going up early. It's only Christmas.

TeenTimesTwo · 03/11/2018 16:10

21st Dec - last day of term.
Will come down on 5/6 Jan just before school resumes.

DramaAlpaca · 03/11/2018 16:10

A week before Christmas.

onlyconnect · 03/11/2018 16:11

Not before 15th December. People seem to put them up earlier and earlier and take them down earlier too. I would rather Christmas started later and went on a bit later. These days it seems to run from 1st to 27th December.

WinterSpiceOnIce · 03/11/2018 16:12

A week before is more than enough time.... we've got November and majority of December to get through before it's 'christmas'

Boring to get them up too soon.... you'll be fed up of them by Xmas eve

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 03/11/2018 16:12

10-14 days before Christmas. We have live trees so they don’t tend to look great for longer than that (yes we do all the right things).

JiltedJohnsJulie · 03/11/2018 16:13

Sunday before Christmas.

CaseStudyResearch · 03/11/2018 16:15

Second weekend in December.

We started from scratch last year, so none of our decorations need replacing. I might look for one or two new baubles, and maybe a stag/something else decorative.

We tried tinsel last year, but the cats kept pulling it off.

AdaColeman · 03/11/2018 16:15

Goes up on Christmas Eve and is taken down on the Epiphany.

fleshmarketclose · 03/11/2018 16:15

I only have ours up for a week as it gets on my nerves so it goes up on 21st and down on 28th (or 27th if I can get away with it) I've already seen the first tree up, it was up before Halloween, I find it bizarre tbh.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/11/2018 16:16

Always do ours 1st weekend in December.

Mrskeats · 03/11/2018 16:17

Week before Xmas.
This thread is cheering; I was expecting loads of people saying next week.

Veganfortheanimals · 03/11/2018 16:22

The sooner the better, one less thing to do ,when nearer the time I've do much else to do...4 kids ,2 with birthdays on top of Xmas.

Lovemusic33 · 03/11/2018 16:24

1st weekend in December and take them down the day after Boxing Day.

loplop · 03/11/2018 16:24

Anytime we feel like it. Who cares what other people think? It's your home!
