Or is it too soon to be asking Blush

Today I sorted through all our decorations and was thinking about a date.
We don’t go for a fresh tree but we will be away over Christmas so I want to put the tree up soon!

Get those twinkle lights out ✨

Usually around the 1st which this year is a Saturday which is ideal. If the 1st is a weekday I tend to do it the last weekend of November.

A few years ago, I was in my first home and was so excited about my first tree and I put it up on November 18th. Never again. It was way too early 😂😂 I was sick of it by December!

Cachailleacha · 03/11/2018 17:03

Just leave it up until Candlemas if you will be away.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 03/11/2018 17:05

1st December

SixToEightInchesOfSnow · 03/11/2018 17:09

Usually first weekend in December, but we’ll be away this year so it’ll be the 2nd weekend. Always take them down on New Year’s Day.

Theseptemberissues · 03/11/2018 17:21

Usually the 2nd weekend in Dec, however DC2 is due to be born via elcs the week before so tree will go up on the 1st! There’s no way DP is touching the decorations Grin

Figgygal · 03/11/2018 17:24

Most likely the 8th this year as we are away from 23rd-29th and kids would like it up

MumGoneCrazy · 03/11/2018 17:25

4th of December and take it down 4th of January

Kewqueue · 03/11/2018 17:25

15th December. Taking it down on the 6th.

OlderThanAverageforMN · 03/11/2018 17:26

Saturday before Xmas, this year that will be 22nd. Down by 6th Jan.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 03/11/2018 17:29

First weekend of December!

Jaimx86 · 03/11/2018 17:31

I know someone who is putting their tree up tomorrow 😱😱

Asj0405 · 03/11/2018 17:32

Usually first weekend in December and take it down a few days after christmas as dd birthday is new year so tree comes down birthday banners go up Grin

moredoll · 03/11/2018 17:32

The 16th of December. It was my aunt's birthday. I have a friend who always waits until Christmas Eve to get her (real) tree. It means it's always cheaper.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 03/11/2018 17:36

The 17th-DC 3 has a 16th December birthday!

zen1 · 03/11/2018 17:38

The weekend before Christmas, once the kids have broken up. Usually take it down around 2nd January.

Longdistance · 03/11/2018 17:39

Ours goes up about 10th December (closest weekend to). I know someone who already has there’s up 🙄 pictures all over fb.

FurryDogMother · 03/11/2018 17:40

Ours has been up all year, but I'll change the decorations from Halloween/autumn inspired to Christmas themed around the 2nd weekend of December - then comes the Easter tree, followed by the summer tree...and so on.

Dumbledora · 03/11/2018 17:40

We put ours up in the first weekend of December. DH prefers to wait til a week before Christmas but he's outvoted by DS and I.
I can't wait! I love seeing my first Christmas tree, there's always someone who puts it up mid November.
We take it down on 2nd January though. The house looks so bare then.

strumpetblowingatrumpet · 03/11/2018 17:41

December 1st which conveniently falls on a Saturday this year. It's so big and such a job I want it up for a decent amount of time before having to take it all back down again! 😖

TroubleComesInSmallPackages · 03/11/2018 17:43

Friday 7th December as we've got an Inset day so will have an extra day to enjoy it over the weekend.

It's also going to be an epic task this year as we have a pair of 6 month old kittens!

Jolonglegs · 03/11/2018 17:49

Some kind of greenery from the wood nearby, and we'll put it up usually the weekend before Christmas. We can't stand them in peoples houses from the start of December: what's the point?

Bearbehind · 03/11/2018 17:52

Do the people who put their tree up right before Christmas and leave it up well in January do so for religious reasons?

I put mine up during the first week in December but it’s down before New Year.

To me it being up is all about the anticipation of Christmas and once Christmas has passed I want it gone.

Peridot1 · 03/11/2018 17:53

Weekend of 7th/8th/9th probably. It takes days as I go ever so slightly over the top.

TroubleComesInSmallPackages · 03/11/2018 17:59

Hahaha Peridot that'll be me as well!

First Christmas in our own home for 3 years so it's a bit special.

PyeWackets · 03/11/2018 18:03

Up on the 1st, down on the 31st. I love coming in from work and seeing it up, kids appreciate it too. Then down for New Years Day, fresh and clean. There is no right or wrong way, you do you.
