I like Cassius.

PhilomenaButterfly · 07/11/2018 14:31

Troilus? Or does that have dark connotations?

TheWoollybacksWife · 07/11/2018 14:33

Magnus is a great name. What about Augustus (Gus)? This would be another A name though, I don't know if you want different initials.

Clement (a fabulous name) reminds me of the litany of the Roman saints at Mass. In the same list is Linus and Cornelius. Linus has a similar vibe (to me) as Ike and I'd shorten Cornelius to Neil.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2018 14:47

I love Magnus. I know a 4 year old with the name! It's very statesman-like.

I like Magnus and Linus, we have both liked Jared but don’t know whether it goes with our DC names

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2018 16:36

You don't need to worry about if it goes with the others. Just if you like it!

I like Jared too!

I agree, I don't think siblings' names have to go together.

DS2 was late back from the British Museum, took him to Adventure. 😆

FrangelicoCandyBoughs · 07/11/2018 17:37

Thank you ladies, we’re either going for Jared or JimSmile

CrazyBaubles · 07/11/2018 19:14

I saw my first decorated house (well, flat really)! They have an awful snow globe with a teddy in it stuck to the outside of their property, it's huge, and fairy lights everywhere. It's tacky but didn't half make me smile on my drive home today.

MrsMad I hope you've enjoyed your day off!

Wreck I hope you have your sore feet up?

Love all the names on here. I feel like I live on another planet sometimes, I don't know anyone with these names. I know lots of boys called Daniel/ James / Benjamin / Gareth which are nowhere near as interesting!

AceyMac13 · 07/11/2018 19:37

Hi all!
Hope you’re all well and have had a good day. Grin
Today has been absolutely manic, I’ve only just got home. I picked up the cause of death certificate from the hospital, and also registered the death today so that’s all official now. I’ve been to the funeral directors and sorted out the funeral, it will be held on Wednesday 21st, not sure what time yet just waiting on confirmation. The funeral director is lovely and he really made the process so simple and easy. Just need to drop off a form and dads clothes with them, I will also visit him in the chapel of rest.
My appetite is back with a vengage today, and I am currently waiting for a takeaway as I can’t be bothered to cook.
Cleared some more of dads flat, still got loads to do but I’m getting there.

Get to see Addie at my scan tomorrow; so excited! I’ve ordered the letters of her name
That will go on the nursery wall.

Mrs - thank you my lovely, I am taking care of myself don’t you worry. It does feel like I’m carrying the weight of everyone else’s grief too but never mind! I hope you had a lovely day off, lord knows you deserve it Flowers

Philomena - god that sounds super painful! I really hope Addie doesn’t do that to me! My back keeps locking up which I think is something to do with wee princess long legs!

Wooly - love the funko pop 😂

Frangelico - your names are gorgeous, I’m sure you’ll settle on a boys name soon!

Seafood - it’s been such a relief to feel some movements, especially with the anterior placenta. My midwife said I may not feel her until 27 weeks so I was panicking that I wouldn’t feel anything for ages! It has annoyed me that they are acting the way they are, I understand they are hurting, but so am I. I think the worst part is that I was the only one there with him when he actually passed away, and I had to be the one to comfort him when he opened his eyes and grabbed my hand just before he passed. At least one of my brothers has stepped up and is helping in any way he can! I hope your pregnancy is going well and that the morning sickness has disappeared again!

Addie is giving me major heartburn which is not fun, especially not in the middle of the night!

Right I better go, I need to eat and have a bath, then off to bed ready for another busy day and my scan tomorrow Grin

Have a lovely evening everyone Smile

WreckTangled · 07/11/2018 19:43

Ooo Acey get some ranitidine it's much better than gaviscon. I remember the heartburn so well.

Crazy I've been mainly resting since I got home. We even had a very lazy dinner of pizza (with salad) so I didn't have to stand much (I have a neuro muscular condition).

Redgreencoverplant · 07/11/2018 20:11

Anyone able to inspire me on gifts for the staff at DS' nursery. Last year they got a card, a small box of chocs and a Christmas decoration. Will do the card and the chocs again but can't think what to do instead of the decoration?!

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2018 20:17

I'm doing M&S biscuits, non-alcoholic fizz and homemade mince pies as a class gift with some alcoholic fizz for the teacher as well.

WreckTangled · 07/11/2018 20:20

We don't do teacher gifts. Can't afford it.

Redgreencoverplant · 07/11/2018 20:23

Maybe I should just stick with edible stuff then fluffy :)

Redgreencoverplant · 07/11/2018 20:25

I don't think I will do it once he is at school wreck I will admit. I guess I see the nursery ladies as a bit special as they have been caring for him since he was 8mo changing nappies etc and they genuinely care for him so deeply. He was off for half term last week and when he went back in they were smothering him in kisses and saying how much they missed him. He loves them so much too, I will ask him what he wants to get them :)

PhilomenaButterfly · 07/11/2018 20:27

I had terrible heartburn, I nearly threw up in the Asda café eating BBQ ribs! When DS2 was born I ate loads of spicy food because I could!

Yes, having little toes poking between your ribs is extremely painful. Tell Addie off from me if she ever does it to you!

TheWoollybacksWife · 07/11/2018 20:28

One of my colleagues received a personalised lanyard from one of last year's leavers that she absolutely loved and she wears it every day.

FrangelicoCandyBoughs · 07/11/2018 20:45

Thank you Acey hope you’re doing well and your scan goes well tomorrow, I bet you’re so excited to see little Addie!.

Redgreen We don’t usually get good for teachers as we aren’t close to them so don’t know any dietary needs etc. But we usually get DC to write a little card to the teacher and then will get them some flowers.

I think we’ve decided on Newt for a boy, with Newton James on his BC.

NerosFiddle · 07/11/2018 21:44

Hope you are ok Acey.

I'm also trying to think of what to get the staff in the nursery as a gift. DS only goes once a week and he went into the older class a few weeks ago so I think I'll get a big group present. Maybe do a hamper.

I'm the opposite to you all with names. My DS has a common biblical name that's always in and around the top 10. But dd has a very old Irish name. At last look it made the top 1000 in England and Wales but is a lot more common her in Ireland.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2018 21:46

Hope it goes well tomorrow, Acey.

I felt DS at about 20 weeks with an anterior placenta. DD was a strong little thing and I felt kicks from 14 weeks (telling me my non-maternity jeans were digging in)!

Newt is unusual. Boys' names are too hard!

Feet kicking downwards at full term are pretty painful too! I don't miss the huge, violent, movements at all. Gentle ones were OK, but I was properly battered by my two!

OP posts:
FrangelicoCandyBoughs · 07/11/2018 22:17

I liked really popular names when I was a little girl, wanted my DS to be Daniel and my DD to be Lily. When we had DS1 we decided to look at my family tree and I had a great great grandad called Algernon so we called DS Algy. I got Clem from a book that I was reading and then I really liked Mike or Spike but DH didn’t like any of them so we settled on Ike. We both really like Newt but obviously it’s very unusual and as he gets older he might want a more professional name so will put Newton on the BC, saying that though we could very well be having a little girl and none of that matters!

Morning!

It's my Friday, wooo! I've got so much to do though. It's been a busy few days one way or the other!

I was going to suggest asking him, DS2 was amazing last year with the end of year gift, he suggested coffee, and he somehow knew that his teacher was addicted to coffee! I got her some Douwe Egbert's.
