Here we go again. I think the last thread was the quickest ever, so this one probably won't even get to Halloween, but we shall see!

There's a lot of swimming going on! My DC went this morning.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/10/2018 14:14

Mine aren't swimming this week as the teacher is away. Back to it next week though!

Fluffy your allotment looks great! not much to go now for it to be done for winter by the looks of it :)

Mrs I hope the road works are finished asap, I'd be glaring through the windows! I love ikea, I need to do a trip soon as we need a few things but DH is already doing the 'only buying what we need speech'. Grin.

wreck those are very cute :)

heavy Their lunch sounds lovely, I hope swimming goes well :)

My hands are in agony today, I got burns on my hands from the detergent as I couldn't find any gloves for the first half of washing, should have predicted since I get a rash really easily! some snuck under my gloves for the second load and I have a giant patch on my arm too, really stings if I touch anything warm.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/10/2018 14:47

Ooh, Seafood. Have you got any Piriton? I'd take some to try to alleviate the allergic reaction. You can take it while pregnant as I was prescribed it for being arrrrggggh-itchy (and it wasn't OC) at about 36 weeks with DD. A chemist won't sell it to you, however, so send someone else or say it's for someone else!

I'm rather pleased with the allotment, it has to be said. I'm just about to start planning next year to see what goes where.

I've just completed 2 hours of housework. It wouldn't normally take that long, but DH doesn't do it as thoroughly as me, and he does it most weeks, so I have to do all the bits he misses. Plus I cleaned all the downstairs doors and most of the woodwork, including at the side of the stairs.

I need to dust now really. Boo!

NoWordForFluffy · 24/10/2018 19:39

Ah, Mrs, I have good and bad days. There's no pattern to it though! It feels like it's probably 40% bad and 60% good, so an improvement.

The other allotment owners have talked about how quickly we turned it around. They've been very impressed! I'm just bloody-minded, as well as needing to see results to keep motivated. 😂

I've had that pizza from Asda before. It's lovely!

We are still working on operation eat through the freezer, so had sweet chilli beef koftas with homegrown potato wedges and veg. We've just had apple, sultana and cinnamon crumble with custard. It was awesome!

Yes Mrs, she's already given Rudolph a wash. She'll use him all year round. Xmas Grin It is great timing for DD's SATs, then the rest of the week will feel like a lie-in! Grin She has 2 boosters a week after school too, one clashes with brass club, I don't know if she can alternate? Confused

I am now looking for nice Pjs/onesies for the Christmas Eve Box. DS's girl friend will be with us so I want to get matching sets for the two of them plusDD

Morning! Decorating is the plan here today! The DC are off to DH's parents while we do the hall, stairs and landing. Exciting times. Not!

Work is mad, as usual. But I managed to cast off another scarf last night, and another only needs about 3 more train journeys that I can knit (trains busier this time of year - but there is still the odd one). I should have time over the weekend sitting in a sailing club for a few hours to work on the one that needs daylight and quiet (numbers of plain/purl change every row - it was such a sensible pattern to choose - not!). And I will get to a shop somewhere to buy some chunky wool for the last one I need to start.

and as I needed fresh air after a hellish morning (and missing the cancellation of a lunchtime lecture that I was stressing about getting to), I went to the shopping street and bought 2 presents while waiting for DD scripts to be filled. 🤶 And I decided a present for someone else using something I already had. So progress!

Today, a difficult meeting has been postponed, and while it’s busy, it’s doable. I need to make a few calls to book things and order jeans. But I have a fun outing tonight as DD is in a show at school - voluntarily!!! I’m so proud no matter how good/bad they are, as SHE wanted to do it and she normally wouldn’t put herself forward for these kinds of things.

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 25/10/2018 09:35

Mrs my mum says she'll get too famous for her boots! Halloween Grin Good luck getting the plate! Halloween Grin

BiddyPop · 25/10/2018 11:55

I'm loving all the digging and decorating that is going on. And that Rudolph plate is really cool - where is that? I'm definitely adding a trip to Ikea to my "must do soon" list....

2 months to go.

I've been dreaming in my head about our decorations - Dunnes Stores have a set of plastic baubles in kitsch colours (pinks, purples, turquoise) that would go well with a few robots we already have, and I can do the old tree in the playroom as a more "fun" tree and the sitting room one a more grown up/understated tree with a red and gold theme to it, and I may even get a garland for the stairs this year - I saw a nice one for €40 and I have lots of bits I can add to it to make it nice.

Then again, DH may not agree to 2 trees or a garland.

Oh well, I can keep working up ways to convince him. Meanwhile, back to my actual work stuff after a few minutes sneaking about in here....Xmas Grin Grin

NerosFiddle · 25/10/2018 13:15

We've had a power cut here, so that means no lunch or cups of tea for me today. It's really bad weather so I don't want to take Dd out as he's still a bit sick. Looks like it'll be a day of reading for us all.

CrazyBaubles · 25/10/2018 13:47

MrsMad I love Tenby, I hope you have a lovely day there.

Biddy can you tell DH you want 3 trees so when he says one you can negotiate and settle on 2? I've done that this year - although one is a white wire prelit twiggy tree and one is a proper artificial one.
Ideally I'd also like a small real one to put on a box in the kitchen but I knew he'd hate that idea. Next year maybe!

Neros that's rubbish - any idea when the power will be coming back on? Do you have a gas hob (or a gas camping burner)? Could at least boil water for tea that way?

I'm having a bit of a rubbish day. There have been some promotions above me which means my line manager is likely to change to someone I don't particularly enjoy working with.
Can't wait to get home however, I am using my lunch hour to crochet some Christmas extras to sew on to the festive scarf I'm making for dm

WreckTangled · 25/10/2018 15:09

I've had a busy day. Went to Sainsbury's early to get some uniform bits only to find they didn't have any. A meeting with my manager for two hours (on my week off 😡) then off to some local gardens for a Halloween trail which cost £19 and we only stayed an hour because ds said he had a headache and wasn't himself. Got home and his temperature is almost 40 so now we are chilling on the sofa. He also keeps saying his hip hurts but was fine walking about.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/10/2018 15:42

I hope your DS is better soon, Wreck. We packed DS off with a hacking cough and a 38+ (red on the thermometer) temp this morning. He's only with grandparents, so he will be spoilt and looked after!

We've just finished the hall, stairs and landing and I painted our bedroom radiator with the same paint (it was paint for wood, metal and plastic). The whole house now needs the woodwork glossing, but that's for another time. I'm tired now. And in the bath!

Thank you everyone :) I'll give the piriton a go as my arm still hurts, my hands have scabbed over at least (yuck!).

Fluffy I enjoy dusting, if you come and declutter for me I'll do all your dusting Grin. That crumble sounds delicious, very very jealous here! Way to go on the painting, it sounds exhausting! what colour/s did you go for? I hope your ds is doing better this evening Flowers it's just that pants time of the year for colds, everyone here is snotty/coughing too.

Biddy How do you do it? you're always so busy! enjoy your evening, I'm sure your daughter will be fantastic in the show.

wreck I hope his temperature has gone down now and he's feeling better.

Seafoodeatit · 25/10/2018 18:15

neros I hope your power is back on now!

NoWordForFluffy · 25/10/2018 19:28

We stuck with white, Seafood, as there's very little natural light, so bright is key! It's blinding now as it was grubby when we moved in 4 years' ago, so was very dingy, hence doing it (it's the kind of job you put off really!). 😂😂

We had crumble again just now to get it finished. It's better on night 2!

DS is coughing a fair amount. He had Calpol before bed, so hopefully it'll keep his temp down tonight. DD is also snotty, but not as bad. She has a tendency to get croup, so I'm hoping the cough stays away.

Your hands do sound painful, Seafood. I hope the piriton helps.
