Here we go again. I think the last thread was the quickest ever, so this one probably won't even get to Halloween, but we shall see!

Thank you all so much for the congratulations! Grin

I can’t believe how perfect she is; my heart feels like it could explode with love and pride, I just love her so much already 💕

I couldn’t stop laughing because the lovely scan lady could not get her to uncross her legs, she would not play ball until right at the very end! They had me bouncing on a birthing ball and doing squats but nothing would move my wee princess 😂 she also said my placenta is anterior so may take a while to feel her move.

She has the cutest button nose and the most gorgeous long legs, her legs are very long according to the sonographer Grin

Gender reveal done, 33 guesses, 27 correct! My family are clearly good at guessing Grin
My grandad cried because it’s a girl, then I cried because he said how much of an amazing mum I’ll be Grin

So sorry to hear about your dad being awkward mrs, it must be so frustrating as you work your butt off to make sure they have everything they need!

Heavy - I’m so sorry for your losses. Take care of yourself lovely Flowers

We are going shopping now to get this wee princess some clothes, it feels so surreal! I didn’t know it was possible to love anything or anyone the way I love her Grin

Crazy - name wise I’ve narrowed it down to 3 for her, I’ve yet to find a traditional Irish name that I love so I’m not too worried on that front Smile

NerosFiddle · 12/10/2018 14:43

Heavy so sorry for your loss.

Acey congratulations on your wee girl.

PhilomenaButterfly · 12/10/2018 14:44

I wanted to call DD Aoife, but realised no one here would be able to pronounce or spell it.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/10/2018 15:10

Here being where, PSB? I know a few Aoifes and once people are introduced they know the spelling and how to say it.

Heavy sorry to hear that Thanks

I had a lovely lunch of sundries tomato and pesto orzo with halloumi. Am still full now and the dc will want dinner in a couple of hours...

BiddyPop · 12/10/2018 15:23

Afternoon all - I have had a slice of chocolate cheesecake for lunch after a horrific meeting. I am now about to leave work to bring DD to the Dr, and then go home for G&Ts with DH when he is finished his presentation (I may start before he gets there!). All is fine, my boss is grand, just external stakeholders barraking for over an hour and refusing to listen or even try to work with us to solve the problem they have. ....I love my job, really, I do!!

p.s. I cheered myself up at lunch by detouring to a home décor shop which does fab Christmas decorations en route to supermarket for bits I needed. I am now the proud owner of a Mr & Mrs Clause salt and pepper shakers!! Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/10/2018 15:24

My condolences Heavy Thanks

How exciting Acey. I wore out the baby name book with my 3 which is a bit crazy considering we decided on all our names by the midpoint of my pregnancies and didn't change our minds. My DMum kept phoning with suggestions which were almost universally awful so in the end we told her that DS was going to be called either Elvis or Tiffany. She objected to both - Elvis because it wasn't a saints name (I showed her the entry for St. Elvis on the list of RC saints) and Tiffany because it was 'one of those horrible modern names' and I showed her it was an old name meaning 'born at the Epiphany' as DS was due on 6th Jan. she knew I was joking but couldn't get me to budge and tell her our proper choices.

He has a top 10 traditional name (there are at least 4 saints) and she was delighted.

Mrsmadevans · 12/10/2018 16:55

WreckTangled · 12/10/2018 18:08

Dh came home from work with three chocolate oranges for me. I know they're on offer but he's obviously feeling guilty as he never buys me things unless I ask!

PhilomenaButterfly · 12/10/2018 18:15

London Fluffy.

PhilomenaButterfly · 12/10/2018 18:22

Picked DS2 up, DD's teacher gave me her SATs booster schedule for after half term, the DC had La Reine pizza for supper. 😋🍕

NoWordForFluffy · 12/10/2018 18:23

I'm sure they'd be fine with it in London, PB. Though unless you're planning on any more DC, it's kind of irrelevant!

OP posts:
PhilomenaButterfly · 12/10/2018 18:34

God, no! I'm 51, and DS2 exhausts me! 😂 I opted for unusual but easy to spell names for all of mine.

WreckTangled · 12/10/2018 18:38

Both my dc's names are five letters. Ds was named after the CIA agent in James Bond he died dd wants to change her name to bellatrix.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/10/2018 18:43

DD has 3 letters and DS 4. If DD has been a boy she'd have had 4 letters and if DS was a girl, 4 letters. We appear to like short names! 😂

OP posts:
Seafoodeatit · 12/10/2018 21:00

biddy I'm sorry to hear your afternoon was pants but the pepper shakers sound really cute and who doesn't love cheesecake?

wreck that sounds like a nice gesture from him :)

I'm having some cake tonight after a stressful day, 2 of my 6 buses were cancelled making me late picking up DS, cue the rude receptionists being really rude urghhhhh.

FireflyGirl · 12/10/2018 21:41

Heavy, sorry about your aunt and DGM.

Congratulations on your little girl, Acey

You have my sympathies about the buses, seafood.

Any news on the job front, Fluffy?

DS's name has 7 letters. It's a 'proper' name, because we have a traditional surname so anything more modern didn't sound right, but not in the top 100.

Biddy - we need photos of your shakers!

I can't remember whether it was on here someone mentioned about being disappointed with the M&S brochure. They have done one that's a couple of pages, then a proper thick one. The lady in the store had no idea why they've done two...

NoWordForFluffy · 12/10/2018 23:37

No need, Firefly. I'm guessing it's been offered to someone else today. Though the bloke from the agency did say he wouldn't be around much today. So god knows.

Our two have 'proper' names. I think both have dropped out of the top 100 now, though DD's was higher, but a slight variation on her name is now super-popular and knocked it out of favour. DS' name hasn't been popular for a few years now. It was 80-something when we chose it and dropped out last year.

My cross stitch is coming on nicely. I think I'll finish it tomorrow. I've had to bloody unpick another load though, as I had a layer too many where I'd duplicated a row of branches. They've been terrible trouble to me, those things! 🙈😂

Whoops, fell asleep on the sofa at 5pm, now I’m wide awake! 😂

Going to try and get an appointment with the optician today, I’ve had floaters in one eye since Thursday and I want to make sure it’s nothing sinister. They are only there when I look at my phone, laptop or tv screen and aren’t constantly there, but better to be safe than sorry!

Can’t stop looking at my scan photos, she really is so perfect Grin

Thank you all for the congratulations on my wee princess - it would take ages to scroll back and thank you all individually- but you’re all so lovely Grin

Philomena - Aoife is a lovely name, but completely understandable you’d worry about people not being able to spell or pronounce it!

Biddy - chocolate cheesecake sounds so good right now! It’s 3.08am and no shops are open, else I would be such a pig and go and get some, regardless of the fact it’s stupid o clock in the morning Grin love the salt and pepper shakers too Grin

Wooly - Tiffany or Elvis that made me laugh 😂 I’ve been through the baby names book so many times, but the only 2 names I love are ones that aren’t in there. I think it will be one of the two, just got to decide which Grin

Wreck - 3 chocolate oranges all for you, yep he must be feeling guilty!

Seafood - I don’t blame you for having cake, 6 buses, I don’t know how you do it!

Fluffy - sorry to hear you still haven’t heard anything about the job, must be so frustrating! That cross stitch looks fantastic!

WreckTangled · 13/10/2018 03:23

Acey I actually have four as I bought myself one too! Ds woke me up before two (to as me if I would lie with him 🙄) and I haven't been able to get back to sleep 😭

Your eyesight does change in pregnancy so definitely worth checking.

AceyMac13 · 13/10/2018 04:00

Wreck - you’re like the chocolate orange queen Grin ouch 2am you poor thing!
I will definitely get it checked out for peace of mind :)

Got this for my wee princess, so cute 😍

WreckTangled · 13/10/2018 04:08

I've eaten one already Grin

Ah that's so sweet. When I found out ds was a boy and went straight to John Lewis and bought a gorgeous blanket. We still have it (ds doesn't care for it much though!)

Redgreencoverplant · 13/10/2018 06:38

DH and I really struggled with names as we have very different taste. I wanted a very Welsh name (Emrys and Eirlys were my favourites) whereas DH likes English classics like Emma and William.

What was a really important to me was a timeless name which wouldn't immediately place DS in a particular generation and I think we have achieved that :)

NoWordForFluffy · 13/10/2018 07:17

Morning!

I really think it's underestimating the people of the UK by thinking we can't spell or pronounce Irish names! We're a very multicultural society and there's always been loads of Irish people around too. And Aoife is definitely one of the 'easier' Irish names to get your head / tongue around!

Saoirse is one which sticks out as being tricky to me, however. Though if you have much to do with one you do get used to it.

Floaters aren't good. Are they definitely floaters and not migraine visual disturbance? You've been through a lot recently so stress - and potentially dehydration if you're not drinking loads these days - can cause headaches / migraine. Definitely get checked out though.

Weather is meant to be wild here today. It's our 6th wedding anniversary today. The weather was way better on that day! 👰 🤵
