Beauty advent calendars 2018

Just noticed vogue published their favourite beauty advent calendars for 2018 - with prices and release dates here (don’t look if you want surprises as you can see what are inside some of the calendars.

Is anyone planning on getting one or more this year? Which looks the best?
I know my dd would love the look fantastic one, I can only dream of the diptyque one, or Liberty if they release one again this year [santa]

I ordered the Charlotte Tilbury one, which I feel so guilty about every time I check my bank balance Blush

Thanks for the link OP, I didn't realise how many there were!

I got the M&S one for myself last year, and I tried abut half of the products (gave the other half to DSD) and am still using a couple regularly now.

I've never tried Charlotte Tilbury; is this range of products good? (I wear mostly chanel or estee lauder make-up normally).

IvorHughJarrs · 09/10/2018 17:47

I hate calendars which are just testers, had Clarins one year and thought I could have got it for nothing if I visited a few shops and asked for samples!
Look Fantastic, You Beauty and M&S are all good for the variety of stuff in them

ChicagoLil · 13/10/2018 08:25

Bugger. I've looked up the Liberty advent calendar and it's £195. I've been a devotee for the past two years but I can't justify it this year. I'd rather go to Space NK and get 3-4 full size lots of things I love.

Electrascoffee · 14/10/2018 21:43

Charlotte Tilbury is wonderful- it really is. It all looks so flattering.

BewareOfDragons · 14/10/2018 22:38

I loved the Look Fantastic and Boots No 7 calendars last year; will likely go with those again, as I have friends to pass off makeup to that I won't use. And my daughter is delighted to have inherited last year's Look Fantastic box which was amazing!

BewareOfDragons · 14/10/2018 23:08

Glossy Box looks nice, too, but will probably stick with LF.

Both are at the top of my justifiable price range as a special treat.

BewareOfDragons · 15/10/2018 11:00

I just watched the box opening video for the Paul and Joe 'cat' based beauty calendar. TBH, it looks like a total rip off. £56 for a calendar that has 24 numbers on it, but only about 12 of them have actual items in them, and several of them are the equivalent of magazine samples by the look of them. Yikes! I hope people aren't taken in by the 'pretend'' 24 day calendar when it's not!

Does anyone use Susanne Kaufman stuff? Her beauty advent calendar looks lovely

I've already had the Look Fantastic one delivered, then DD messaged me that the Glossybox one was soooo much better and she'd rather have that one! FFS...
So now I have to try and get the Glossybox one when it gets released at 7pm tonight, whilst I'm at a school meeting! Least I get to have the LF one Grin

Electrascoffee · 15/10/2018 12:03

I can't understand how people can wait until December- I just order it and take everything out! The whole point is surely discounted make up and products? 🤣

youngestisapsycho · 15/10/2018 12:13

Its an advent calendar.. you open one door a day for a surprise! My DD loved opening hers last year. We dont all watch the Youtube videos to see what the contents are....

Electrascoffee · 15/10/2018 12:29

Ah I see. I wouldn't buy one unless I knew what was in it.

youngestisapsycho · 15/10/2018 12:44

Although for DD to tell me the Glossy box one is much better, she has obviously looked at something online and seen the contents!! Hmmm...

MrsCar · 15/10/2018 12:49

I wouldn't buy one without reading the contents either.

Luckily I'll have them all forgotten about by December Grin

Nanasueathome · 15/10/2018 13:21

Space NK have released theirs

LaurieFairyCake · 15/10/2018 14:53

The space nk advent calendar is not worth it at all - vast majority are sample sizes and the full sizes are on stuff very cheap to produce (scent, candle)

I reckon it's the worst of the lot

Have changed my mind on the Glossy Box one after I looked at the contents; not for me.

Have discovered that the lovely looking Decleor calendar is on sale for 20% off at the moment at the Feel Unique site (£64 instead of £80) , AND it comes with a free gift (also Decleor products in a little travel bag) for a few more days... think I just might have to treat myself to that one

Also discovered that a number of the Superdrug advents are 50% off at the moment, including the cute Snow White one for £7 which I've ordered for my little girl. All appropriate stuff for her. Grin

lauryloo · 15/10/2018 16:46

i am not sure what calendar to buy this year - i was skint last year and didn't buy one for myself and i did miss it, but i still have stuff from my no 7 one from 2 years ago sitting unopened!

rubens9444 · 15/10/2018 21:31

The Elle one looks so nice....but £125? I don't think I can justify it :(

SymphonyofShadows · 18/10/2018 06:40

Boots No7 is 'available' now but the website says it can't process due to technical issues. I'm taking that as a sign that I need to order the Glossy Box one instead at the subscriber price. I got a code through a workplace scheme that gives me 3 cheap boxes, so glad I did it now.

ChicagoLil · 18/10/2018 07:30

I have taken the plunge and bought the Decleor advent calendar.

I haven't heard of FeelUnique before. Is it cheaper than buying from the High Street?

Villanellesproudmum · 18/10/2018 08:12

I bought the no7 one but had to buy with PayPal, website was very slow so must be popular!

SymphonyofShadows · 18/10/2018 08:15

I crashed with PayPal for me. I was awake really early so I tried just before 6 (email was time stamped 5.10am). I gave up after the 4th try. A friend tried a bit later and it's sold out.

Villanellesproudmum · 18/10/2018 08:30

Blimey! That’s crazy, I had to wait ages for each page to load. You’d think as they had a waiting list of over 120000 they’d be more prepared. First time I’ve bought one.
