Beauty advent calendars 2018

Just noticed vogue published their favourite beauty advent calendars for 2018 - with prices and release dates here (don’t look if you want surprises as you can see what are inside some of the calendars.

Is anyone planning on getting one or more this year? Which looks the best?
I know my dd would love the look fantastic one, I can only dream of the diptyque one, or Liberty if they release one again this year [santa]

I've had them the past couple of years and did like them. I was in two minds anyway, as I still have quite a few of the P&P items left. The makeup is good though, that and the 'other thing' (spoilers) makes it worth the price.

The half price Soap & Glory makeup set they do nearer Christmas is good too, not sure what it's called this year but I hope they do it.

I just ordered the Boots advent calendar via the waitlist button on my email; it appears to have gone through according to my boots' account... fingers crossed.

My Decleor advent calendar arrived today. Such a pretty box ... am resisting. :)

Mac is doing one, was excited until i saw the price £125 which is crazy ,sad now as i defo wont be getting one x

Woken up by one of my kids and decided to pop on to Boots.com and have ordered the No7 calendar! Am chuffed as it’s definitely more in my price range and will have it alongside my CM Frangrances Wax Melts calendar. Happy.

Thanks Dragons, I followed the link again and it worked. I don't need it for myself now as I've ordered the Glossy Box one (£75 with subscription) but a friend was after one for her daughter.

I did get the free gift, too. Vanilla. Cute little zipped bag with 4 travel sized Decleor items in it. All came well packaged.

I was amazed the advent calendar was 20% of their site ... still full price on their own site and on other beauty sites!

Have just collected the Boots No7 calendar. You won't be disappointed! I've opened it as I'm splitting the contents across DDs stockings - and keeping some items for me too. Great variety of goodies and fab value.

I saw that Electra, but I don't know who she is. I'm far too old for YouTubers. Seems a bit bonkers and unsustainable if she had a lot of orders.

Got my Glossybox advent calendar. I'm so tempted to open it, it's really heavy. I will resist

Mrs Car - Eltoria is a quite a well known YouTuber who always reviews beauty advent calendars. She's a former Lush employee and last year I found her reviews really helpful.

Anyway, this year she supposedly launched her own calendar which she said she had put together through collabs with other brands and that she had bought some of the items herself and one YouTuber in particular has made a video saying that some of the contents are cast offs from advent calendars that she had already opened, and that they don't have seals on so they appear to be second hand.

I think Eltoria has been her own worst enemy tbh. She's very picky about what she likes to see in the calendars she reviews and expects to get value for money. If she puts her name to something she needs to be able to say that she would want this product herself.

The difference with Zoella was that she didn't personally wrap the products and put them in herself.

Eltoria really seems to have scammed her followers!

That said, her reviews have put me off buying an advent calendar this year as I just don't need one!

I'm not sure if I'm going to buy one either this year because I'm a skin therapist and I get Dermalogica at cost price. I do like the CT one but I already have Amber Haze, Pillow Talk and still have some of the creme eyeshadow left from last year, though it is lovely.

Look Fantastic has a lot of the same stuff as last year and I'm not bothered about much of it.

Does anyone know the release date for the M&S one please?

M&S one is released on 6th November. Actually I will buy that one because it's such great value for money.

The Rituals one is gorgeous, myself and dd28 both got one each last year. There are two different ones but not much difference in the products you get. Would really recommend them.

I treated myself to the Lancome one after being adamant I wasn't going to buy an advent calendar this year, after having spent too much on them last year. But I caved after realising how much I loved the Lancome skincare stuff in the Selfridges calendar I bought last year and I'm justifying it on the basis that it really did seem to agree with my skin. Nothing to do with the fact that it meant I could get the Lancome beauty box at a reduced price from Boots at the same time, of course. cough
