Beauty advent calendars 2018

Just noticed vogue published their favourite beauty advent calendars for 2018 - with prices and release dates here (don’t look if you want surprises as you can see what are inside some of the calendars.

Is anyone planning on getting one or more this year? Which looks the best?
I know my dd would love the look fantastic one, I can only dream of the diptyque one, or Liberty if they release one again this year [santa]

4160 Tuesdays have done perfume advent calendars for the last couple of years. I really want one this year.

AgathaRaisinsCat · 01/10/2018 19:58

Was disappointed with the No 7 one last year. I know this sounds stupid but it was because it was all No 7! Would prefer Boots to do more of a mix and match one with different brands. M&S one seems a bit same-y each year.

Off to look at the Vogue article now to see what else is out there.

Tahani · 01/10/2018 20:06

i would LOVE a Jo Malone one, but £300, thats half our christmas budget!

Electrascoffee · 03/10/2018 13:11

I always buy the M&S one. It's amazing value for money and actually their own night cream is very good.

I'm waiting for the Charlotte Tilbury one - I love her make up. Don't think I've ever tried a product of hers that I didn't love. It says October but I don't think it's available yet.

Others I might buy include Look Fantastic (though I think last years was better) and Liberty if I have enough spare cash and lucky enough to get one.

The Aldi wine calendar is available from 4 November. That's a thing of beauty to me.

SymphonyofShadows · 05/10/2018 16:06

I got an email yesterday about Charlotte Tilbury gifts. The advent calendar was included. I'm tempted but it's £150 for 12 days

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 05/10/2018 22:46

I was impressed with the m&s one.

Yeah there were a few things I wasn't thrilled with but for £35 it's great.
I've bought my dd the sleek one this year.

She had the soap and glory one last year and there were a lot of shower gel pods.

PurpleTigerLove · 05/10/2018 22:58

I don’t really get the point of a beauty advent calendar , would it not the better just to buy he make up you like and use . Seems an incredible waste of money and packaging etc

CoolCarrie · 05/10/2018 23:03

Any idea how much the Aldi wine will be? Looks great

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 05/10/2018 23:46

I think the point is to try something new without a large outlay.

On the back of the calender I had last year, I've changed my cleanser and night cream for example, as I went on to buy the full size due to being so impressed.

That and it appeals to the beauty product addict in me. Grin

I got my look fantastic one today, its huge. I let dd do a unboxing like she was a youtuber, I'm gonna refill it with stuff for her. Lush stuff, Christmas baubles stuff like that.
I'm more exited for the glossybox one.

Nearlyadoctor · 06/10/2018 07:04

I really like the look of the Rituals one, but have never tried any of their products! Those who have , would you recommend?
Dd (11) is getting Soap and Glory and DH a Beerhawk one, so I’ve been looking for something for me.

SymphonyofShadows · 06/10/2018 09:27

M&S looks good this year, so I'd start with that. A couple of the items alone make it worth the outlay.

Nearlyadoctor · 06/10/2018 09:52

Molton Brown one looks fabulous - may treat my mother to an advent calendar as well !

ScouseQueen · 06/10/2018 13:16

Enjoyed the M&S one last year so I'll get it again. I don't mind getting the same sort of thing given that I liked most of it.

I have last year's lovely M&S calendar and boxes all intact - would anyone like this to make up a calendar for their DD or some other person? I feel bad just throwing it out. If anyone who wants it could cover postage that would be nice.

Fstar · 06/10/2018 18:16

@nearlyadoctor the rituals products are amazing! I has 2 of them in the past and now buy dao full size as well as other bits. Great quality and sizes for price

Nearlyadoctor · 06/10/2018 18:56

Thanks Fstar - I thought it looked very good for the money and if I buy my mum a Molton Brown one I can’t afford one that’s too extravagant for myself.

SouthWestmom · 06/10/2018 19:14

L'occitane have two - I'm buying the cheaper one for my mum this year

MissCherryCakeyBun · 06/10/2018 20:02

@ScouseQueen is your offer still open on the M&S Calendar for refilling?

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 06/10/2018 20:10

I have the Rituals one. I love Rituals, the body cream just sinks in, it's gorgeous.

My favourite is the Ritual of Dao although I like all of them.

ScouseQueen · 06/10/2018 23:38

@MissCherryCakeyBun Yes, do you want it? DM me.

MrsCar · 08/10/2018 12:14

I'm really thinking about getting the Charlotte Tilbury one. I can't really afford it, but I've been through a horrendous time in my personal life lately, and would love it more than anything.
It would mean making other sacrifices at Christmas, but they're usually a massive waste anyway.

Such a shame that it's only 12 days though contemplates buying last years also, for the other 12 days

Electrascoffee · 08/10/2018 12:52

I love Charlotte Tilbury but I may not buy this year's one because I already have the pillow talk lipstick.

starfish8 · 08/10/2018 18:56

Not had one before but had been toying over the L'occataine or M&S one

I love Liz Earle but you get a lot of those minis when you buy regularly from them.

Love Weleda and they have a 12 days of Christmas set. Or do a 3 drawer gift which may be a lovely present to me to try shower gels, hand creams and oils. Seems a good price at £32 and is more natural than a lot of brands out there.

PurpleOctober · 09/10/2018 14:02

I've already got the Rituals one, and will definitely be buying the M&S one.

I'm not sure about a third - I was going to get the Amazon one but it looks disappointing this year.
