Beauty advent calendars 2018

InfinityGauntlet · 26/08/2018 23:00

Just noticed vogue published their favourite beauty advent calendars for 2018 - with prices and release dates here (don’t look if you want surprises as you can see what are inside some of the calendars.

Is anyone planning on getting one or more this year? Which looks the best?
I know my dd would love the look fantastic one, I can only dream of the diptyque one, or Liberty if they release one again this year [santa]

Noeuf thanks for that ordered for my mum!

SouthWestmom · 01/11/2018 14:34

@I8toys oh good it's really mum perfect x

AliceRR · 01/11/2018 14:48

Not beauty but I got an email about the Paperchase advent calendar and that looks okay!🤓

My mum's has arrived - it looks really substantial so that's good. Contents are shown on the back though. Handy as there's also a guide on using them!

Got my M&S Calendar in store today - there were LOADS. My Liberty post also arrived today...so a good day for me!

Electrascoffee · 02/11/2018 22:26

I think the M&S one is better than last years on closer inspection. However, I imagine the last years one would have sold out quickly in part because it looked so Christmassy.

SouthWestmom · 02/11/2018 22:55

There are loads this year - everyone seems to have cottoned on. Boots had so many versions today.

RedBlu · 03/11/2018 08:11

Got mine from M&S yesterday, with a £30 spend too as it did work with offers as it did online.

My store had thousands of the things. Everywhere you looked they had them piled high and on two floors I saw two ladies doing "demonstrations" using the products - they are clearly pushing these hard this year.

Electrascoffee · 03/11/2018 22:11

I bought the M&S one for my mum and she's really happy,

PurpleNovember · 04/11/2018 10:08

SO what calendars has everyone got so far?

I have M&S and Rituals

peopleispeople · 04/11/2018 10:18

2 x No 7 for me and mum (third year for mum and it's really good!)
1 x L'occitane for big sis (third year for her, she loves it)
1 x ASOS for little sis (not tried ASOS before)

Previous years I was disappointed with Body Shop. Liked Benefit but it was only 12 days so reduced to opening it every second day. Sanctuary did a fabulous one one year, but have not had one the past two. Soap and Glory was good last year.

AliceRR · 04/11/2018 10:25

I’ve got the M&S one for me and one for MIL. Wondered whether I should get FIL a calendar too from hotel chocolat so he doesn’t feel left out?! But it is MIL 70th on Christmas Eve so it’s a bit of a birthday gift for her too. Don’t think I’ll get myself another beauty one but probably get myself a chocolate one from hotel chocolat...

Just remembered last year I bought a fabric one on a string from M&S to make for him myself so should get organised and could make that up for him. Not sure what to put in other than chocolate / sweets and maybe the odd £5 note

fantasmasgoria1 · 04/11/2018 10:29

The make up revolution advent calendars look good!

MrsCar · 04/11/2018 10:56

I got the Charlotte Tilbury one for myself, hatchimals for dd2.
Need to get dd1 and DS next, either chocolate or lego/playmobil

Electrascoffee · 04/11/2018 11:58

I've got M&S and Liberty plus Mac for dd2.

SymphonyofShadows · 04/11/2018 11:59

I've got M&S and Glossybox, I was tempted by Charlotte Tilbury though. I'm going to start my M&S one in the week and roll on to Christmas with the Glossybox (no spoilers I promise!). I'm having some medical treatment and my friends have convinced me to start early as a daily treat. I wonder if the Revolution one will be reduced again for Black Friday?

Electrascoffee · 04/11/2018 13:24

Last year Charlotte Tilbury was selling some of the previous years advent calendars for £75 in the Black Friday sale. This is especially worth bearing in mind if you have blue eyes because last years calendar had the eye shadow stick for blue eyes but this years is for brown eyes.

Didsomeonesaybunny · 04/11/2018 13:31

I am in love with my Liberty Calendar, love the products this year.

My DP surprised me with the Diptyque calendar which is a thing of absolute beauty. Have opened it already and our flat smells amazing as I have a candle burning in every room. Divine!

Electrascoffee · 04/11/2018 14:27

I love the Liberty one as well - it’s got some things I didn’t even know I would love.

maddjess · 04/11/2018 14:53

I'm on day 4 of the liberty one and really happy. Using using this one throughout November then look fantastic in December x

MrsCar · 04/11/2018 15:05

Thanks for the reminder Electrascoffee. I might buy it, so that I'll get 24 days Blush

AliceRR · 04/11/2018 19:53

Does anyone know how I’d do this?

I got two M&S advent calendars. One with one £35 jumper. The other with two jumpers, BOTH over £35.

I want to return one of the jumpers, annoyingly the one I got alone. Presumably they won’t just give me a refund without returning the advent calendar too?

So would I need to take everything with me and then do some sort of convoluted refund and repurchase so that I basically buy one advent calendar with each jumper (I am keeping two jumpers, each at least £35)?

Just wondering what I’d need to take back to the shop with me. I want the two of the calendars.

WardrobeDoor · 04/11/2018 19:58

When I bought the M&S calendar 2 years ago, I just returned the thing I bought with the calendar and not the calendar itself. I didn’t have any problem although I did do it online.

AliceRR · 04/11/2018 20:02

@WardrobeDoor Thanks. I purchased online too but it seems slightly counterintuitive that they’d let me return the £35 spend item and keep the calendar 🤔

I might just take the stuff with me and leave in the boot in case want to do it the long way. I have spent enough, it’s just in separate transactions.

BewareOfDragons · 04/11/2018 20:39

What if you'd given a sweater as a gift? Surely they could return it for whatever reason... and you'd still keep your calendar.
