We have a 6ft prelit fake in the lounge which is my tasteful tree. Then a 4ft one in the dining room which is the DCs' and looks like Christmas threw up on it! 🎄🎄🎄

Daren’t tell even closest friends that I have Christmas on my mind already. Ordered a few bits from the bargain thread and bought some autumn candles.
DD1 is (hopefully) off to uni in September and last night I got to thinking about a box I can pack, put in a cupboard/under bed with a few secret Christmassy things in for 1st Dec for her room.
Makes me feel a bit emosh that mine are growing up while your Xmas babies are on the way. It’s a magical time of year, especially from 2-10.

CrazyBaubles · 11/08/2018 20:36

I'm just going to take a breather on this thread to cool down! First World problem here but it's 29 degrees where I am (and it's 9:30 pm)!

Can't believe we've needed a new thread already!

We put the kids stockings in the end of their beds too, it gives us a little more sleep in the morning.

AnotherShirtRuined · 11/08/2018 21:40

May I rejoin, please?

I have officially started Christmas prepping and placed my very first Aliexpress order for a couple of Christmassy cushion covers. I'm very excited but not quite sure what to expect. Anyone have any experience with Aliexpress? I know I'm in for quite a wait but not sure about quality?

NoWordForFluffy · 11/08/2018 22:54

Ooh. Strictly is a-coming!

I've been reading the Christmas Eve traditions thread on here and now have a Christmas Eve plate and box in my eBay basket. Also looking at polar express tickets but I think I might leave that until the baby is a bit older.

Now going to look up alternatives to gingerbread houses. We usually get a kit and make one with extended family but then the gingerbread rarely gets eaten. I don't know if another type of biscuit would work.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/08/2018 07:31

It probably wouldn't last as long with another biscuit as it would go soft too quickly. So you'd have to eat it rather quickly. Also other biscuits aren't as sturdy, so that may also be an issue.

I use a cardboard Santa box with a ribbon for our CEB. It only cost about £6 and is the perfect size for the few bits I put in it.

I've not used Aliexpress. I've heard it can be hit and miss, but they refund quickly if you're not happy anyway. Worth the risk I think.

Hello, please may I join Smile. We move house this week and I am not sleeping well- I can’t admit to anyone that this is partly because I keep thinking about Christmas in the new house! Blush. We are having 12 people for Christmas, hosting a birthday party for my son a couple of days later and then also hosting a NYE night party. I can’t wait but I am already thinking about what food to do at each event, how to decorate the new rooms, activIties to keep the children occupied and perusing the bargains thread for gifts! I am so excited and can’t wait for the Christmas stuff to start arriving in the shops, I check the seasonal aisle of the supermarket every time i’m in there!!

crazyhairbear · 12/08/2018 08:06

I always read these threads and never join in.... well everyone in RL keeps telling me I'm crazy for talking about Christmas in August so I thought I would join in this year [santa][santa][santa]

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 12/08/2018 08:09

Room for a Christmas crazy newbie? 😊🎄

Oooh somewhere I won’t be laughed at or have eye rolls when I talk about my fave time of the year. ! We have literally only just bought and moved into a beautful, very old house which is going to look stunning and be so cosy at Christmas! I knew it was the one because I could imagine Christmas in it. Loving this festive thread already.

christmasgeek · 12/08/2018 08:21

I felt so autumnal last night, I closed the curtains, lit candles and put my comfy jumper on - it was bliss! Almost cracked open last years Xmas mags, but didn’t know what time hubby would be home 🙈

WickerHippo · 12/08/2018 08:32

It’s a very wet morning over here, it’s so lovely. We’v had some boiled eggs and toast for breakfast and the kids are now watching the rain. Think we’re going to stay in today, Sunday are my days for cleaning (a big spring clean on a Sunday, I’m a massive clean freak!). So will pop to the shops and grab some supplies and then clean away. DH will have all four for an hour or two so we will see how well that goes!. Then we’re having a vegetable hot pot for tea and some homemade tomato soup for supper, so very autumnal in our house today.

Checking in after reading the end of the last thread. I'm waiting to disembark after a lovely holiday - I'm so pleased to see rain - the nighttime temperatures have been 28/29 for most of the last fortnight. Thank goodness for air con.

DH laughs at me as I always claim that the days feel more autumnal once we get back from our holidays. It's probably something to do with the change in the light but it does feel different.

Off to find the GH mag when I do my shopping tomorrow and then start planning and gift shopping once DS goes off to school in 3 weeks.

anothershirt I use AliExpress a lot for bits and pieces, you’ll be surprised at delivery times sometimes- the fastest has been a week (but I would never rely on that)
Over last three years I’ve only had shoes come up small (gave away) and one thing not be very good quality. Definitely has a good success rate for me.

Japril · 12/08/2018 09:28

I had the Christmas pudding bin bags too - I used them up last year so thank you for reminding me to get more!

WreckTangled · 12/08/2018 09:29

sorry guys I got carried away with the heatwave and went awol Grin

Anyway I'm back and excited, the weather has turned and it's 14 weeks until we go to lapland!

AnotherShirtRuined · 12/08/2018 09:39

A week's delivery time from China, that's really good. I'm expecting a month or two so thought I'd get my order in well in advance of Christmas. I've also ordered a couple of Harry Potter wands for the DCs' advent calendars from Aliexpress but that's it so far in terms of Christmas gifts. I'm usually much farther along but find it increasingly difficult as the DCs age to buy in advance as their interests change so much.

MyPatronusIsABadger · 12/08/2018 10:09

Hello, may I join you all too? I always read these threads but never join in.
Autumn is my favourite time of year and it’s definitely drawing near. It’s very rainy with me and I spent yesterday snuggled on the sofa with the cat and dog! I may have also watched The Holiday....
I’ve been looking at doing a day trip to Lapland this year, but I’m a bit worried about being lonely as DH passed away earlier this year. It might just “rub it in” that I’m alone, so maybe I’ll get all the information together for a future trip. WreckTangled I will be very jealous of your trip in the meantime!! Grin

AceyMac13 · 12/08/2018 10:16

Hi all - hope it’s okay to join :)
Another pregnant one here; due 28.03.19 - saw baby’s heartbeat on Friday so already have the best Christmas present ever :)
I’ve been driving my 5 older brothers mad with talk of Christmas, apparently if it’s before December it’s too early 😂
I’m excited for this Christmas and love planning and purchasing whenever I see a bargain! Can’t wait for next Christmas though when baby is here :)
Nausea is pretty bad today so I’m sprawled on the sofa looking for bargains and making lists of what to get other people :)
