Morning! DS2 was up at 5.10. I deliberately put him to bed an hour later last night, he's awake half an hour earlier. 😭

NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2018 07:24

Woooo. 8.5 hours' sleep last night. I'm like a new woman! 😂

@SideOrderofSprouts, we need a new thread soon! Xmas Grin

Allotment this morning, then an afternoon trying on uniform and sticking name labels to new stuff, packing the PE bags etc. Dull, but necessary!

NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2018 07:26

PSB, mine get up at the same time whatever time they've gone to bed. You see it on MN so often about letting kids stay up late for special occasions / on holiday and letting them sleep in the next day. Nope, doesn't work here, hence we won't do the staying up late to start with! We'd ALL suffer with a tired, narky, child the next day.

Mrsmadevans · 02/09/2018 09:12

Morning all Xmas Grin
Up the parents early this morn , cycle race going through Crickhowell so we want to be away before that .
Dad not very well yesterday, breaks my heart to see him in such discomfort, not in terrible pain just not able to eat his lunch from the indigestion/ stomach discomfort. I bought him some GAVISCON to try. He has an enlarged spleen and liver from the CMML and l don't think there is a lot we can do to relieve the discomfort. I will suggest a hot water bottle today. He and Mum row all the time, Mum is very sociable wants to see ppl and talk , Dad is the complete opposite, very quiet . Mum seems to be getting very selfish in her old age , she doesn't seem to be able to put his needs above her own. Of course Dad has let her get her own way their whole married life, Hmm LE SIGH.
I had better shift myself , have a great day everyone Smile

Mrsmadevans · 02/09/2018 09:19

Fluffy glad you are feeling better today it is wonderful what a good nights sleep does for us.
RED you can come and do ours next the shed is falling down , we need a skip to remove it and l am fretting about the damn insects who have made their home in the shed and the pile of wood DH has hidden behind the shed just in case Hmm
I really think we will just have to live with it till it rots away naturally Hmm
l can't live with the worry over the insects scurrying around looking for a new home. l know l am overthinking it and they are 'just insects' but l worry about stupid ppl putting bloody astro turf and bloody decking and bloody concreting the whole gardens , no wonder there is a crisis in the bee population. Sorry Smile l will shut up now .

Morning!

Mrsmad your parents sound very similar to the way my grandparents were in their old age. They were very happy but when Nan wanted to go to Bingo and Gramp didn't feel up to it, they would bicker and it would always end up with her saying how she had lost her younger years to bringing up babies and how boring he was (he was very stoic / happy to sit quietly on his own and read etc). She loved the bones of him really though Confused

Well I got out of bed early, made myself a cuppa and managed to drop a pot of honey out of the cupboard onto 2 pint glasses which promptly shattered so I've just cleaned up broken glass, had to tip out my tea incase of glass shards and mopped up the squash that was in the glasses

So I've now taken the dogs on their short walk (they'll have a proper walk later), made myself a small hot choc in my winter cup and got back into bed with ddogs and DH, all of whom are snoring their heads off.

Lallypopstick · 02/09/2018 09:49

The Christmas haters are out in force on AIBU.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2018 11:04

I've just done 2 hours' graft at the allotment. Seemingly got nowhere with it mind! 🙈😂

In the bath now, but should get out soon really!

I'll have a quick peek at AIBU first though. Xmas Grin

CrazyBaubles · 02/09/2018 11:17

Lally do you mean the advent calendar thread? I saw that and wasn't surprised by the "why do you care, it's August" replies 🙄
AIBU is harsh. I much prefer our friendly MN corner!

Lallypopstick · 02/09/2018 11:23

Yes CrazyBaubles the advent calendar thread. I hate the way people feel the need to police what others do. Maybe I'm particularly defensive as I was looking at toy advent calendars, have a Christmas Eve box and want matching pyjamas!

NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2018 11:57

I don't give a shit what the aggressive types in AIBU think really!

We have decided no toy advents calendars ever again after it all went wrong with Minions ones the other year! We use refillable ones and just buy chocolates ourselves. But I don't care if others buy them.

It amazes me how much energy people actually put into giving a shit about / judging what others do really. 🤷‍♀️

Redgreencoverplant · 02/09/2018 14:44

We are having a busy afternoon. DS chose the colour himself!

I’m dreaming of a cold Christmas! It’s countdown to Christmas thread 5!
NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2018 15:24

Love the colour, Red!

We had an emergency dash to Tesco for plimsoles and boys' trousers as the ones I'd bought (supposedly in the right size!) didn't fit! All sorted now, thankfully.

Seafoodeatit · 02/09/2018 15:47

I've not seen the advent calendar thing but I love them, when ds was an only child he had 4 :D I've had to bring it down to two for him now we've got 3/soon to be 4 kids. He gets a lego one which stays in his room due to small bits and then a big chocolate kinder one. The playdoh one was good in the past.
redgreen Lovely paint, good helper you've got there :)

Seafoodeatit · 02/09/2018 15:48

Fluffy I'm really happy to hear you managed to get a good amount of sleep.

ConstantlyCooking · 02/09/2018 16:56

Thanks to this thread, I have ordered theGood Housekeeping Get Ahead magazine and the 2018 recipe edition direct from Hearst. My little back-to-school treat for me!

WreckTangled · 02/09/2018 17:23

I ordered my GH for Christmas magazine almost a week ago but still haven't got it Hmm

snowmanshoes · 02/09/2018 17:27

I haven't had my mag either and I ordered mine online too and then saw 7 copies of it in WHSmith yesterday. Can't wait to read it!!!

AnotherShirtRuined · 02/09/2018 19:26

Finally caught up with you all! Had a busy week but managed to crochet my version of that Santa's washing line someone (can't remember who Blush) upthread was kind enough to post a picture of. Thanks again!

ConstantlyCooking · 02/09/2018 20:08

Just had an email to say Body Shop's Advent calendars are on the website now - I will probably go for M&S but thought you might be interested [santa]

Redgreencoverplant · 02/09/2018 20:14

Hobbycraft had the start of their Christmas stuff in today :)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/09/2018 21:21

I noticed a ^load' of orange berries on our pyracantha (sp) (shrub with green leaves, orange berries and fearsome thorns)

And our male guinea-pig seems to have doubled his coat overnight (animals know y'know Xmas Wink ) our female guinea-pigs have just laid down extra winter fat

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/09/2018 21:23

Just filling up the thread here ...in a couple of weeks we'll be looking at a hundred days then double figures Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/09/2018 21:39

Thirteen weeks today is the first Sunday of Advent.

I spent today sewing name tapes into DS's uniform. I've done his basic stuff but I need to do his other shirts and trousers plus all his PE kit. I counted and stopped at 40 labels Shock

I have needed to do this all summer - I kept putting it off in case I needed to get a bigger size but today I couldn't put it off any longer. I did feel that I absolutely had to clean the kitchen and the downstairs loo first. Grin

PhilomenaButterfly · 02/09/2018 21:48

Had chocolate pancakes and Disney Cars cereal for breakfast, slow cooked beef in red wine with potato gratin for lunch, pasta bolognese bake with garlic pizza bread for supper, DS2 was in bed by 8.30, DD will go at 11. 😋🍫🚗🚘😴
