Shoe shopping hey Shock ahhh you have my sympathy , it can be just awful. Bribery & corruption helps a great deal Xmas Grin also lights in the heels Xmas Grin, mine used to love those Xmas Grin

WreckTangled · 21/08/2018 10:11

We go to the local independent shoe shop so it's nice and easy but cost me £155 for two pairs of school shoes and a pair of trainers. I refuse to buy cheap shoes for the dc

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/08/2018 10:19

I've still got to take DS for his school shoes. It's on the list for this week but he's had a friend here since yesterday and he is going to his friend's overnight tonight. I may take him tomorrow. I also need to get shirts, trainers, football boots and socks Confused

He has a 'meet your classmates' afternoon at school next week that he needs to be in uniform for so I should probably pull my finger out Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 21/08/2018 10:19

You can get good quality shoes cheaper than that though! We choose good shoes then Google the hell out of them til we find them way cheaper!

WreckTangled · 21/08/2018 10:47

They really need to be fitted properly, especially dd as she has a muscular dystrophy type thing so it's really tricky getting the right shoes. I've managed to get her some trainers from sports direct so that's ok. Plus we can't afford to order stuff online then wait for a refund etc until we can buy some more. It's so much easier to get them in an actual shop.

WreckTangled · 21/08/2018 11:01

Also they are a bit cheaper on amazon but how can I say to the shop lady 'thanks for that I won't buy them though' Blush

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 21/08/2018 11:04

We're at the stage where we have to buy cheap shoes for the DC, unfortunately. DD won't need a new pair, DS2 will, as his have a hole in the sole, and they were Start Rites! 😨 We got them free from Adventure, someone donated them. 😆I'll buy new ones next Monday. Then, apart from the logo'd items, that's everything! DH will get those, as the uniform shop's near the market where he buys all our meat, fruit and veg, and he gets free bus travel as he's over 60. Also, I'd either have to drag 2 recalcitrant DC with me, or try and do it in the time they're at Adventure, and the buses aren't that reliable.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 21/08/2018 11:08

We only have to buy 1 jumper (because he lost 1) and a tie for DS2 (because he's going into KS2), and a PE shirt for DD (because she's grown). So not too bad, under £30.

WreckTangled · 21/08/2018 11:09

Dd needs a new swimming bag but that's in now. All uniform bought.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 21/08/2018 11:27

DD's still got her swimming bag from last year, unused. I hope she actually gets to go swimming this year. Hmm

WreckTangled · 21/08/2018 11:31

How come they didn't do it? We're lucky that our school has a pool, her current bag is broken though. Will get one from Asda

FairyFace · 21/08/2018 11:56

I am in Ireland but went out last night to the bin and it had such an autumnal feel that I was just stood there and dh was looking out the window as if to say what are you doing you mad mare.

We have a trip to Xmas markets in Budapest at the endof Nov I cannot wait.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 21/08/2018 11:56

I don't know Wreck, the year before's year 5 did it. Confused

NoWordForFluffy · 21/08/2018 13:23

That sounds brilliant, Fairy!

Makes sense re the shoes, Wreck. We get measured in JL and buy online, but don't try on in the shop! Difficult to back out after a fitting!

WreckTangled · 21/08/2018 13:31

Yeah it's tough. I can't have her in shoes that might run or slip or make her anymore likely to trip!

I got lots of bits from toysforapound yesterday can't wait for them to be delivered! Also at work in the toy shop we're starting to plan the Christmas window! I'm only helping them for the summer but hoping they'll need me in the run up to Christmas too 🎄🎁

blacksmiths09 · 21/08/2018 16:14

I cracked today.

We burn scented candles all year - mainly Christmassy smelling ones. But I’ve been saving 2 large Yankee jars for closer to Xmas. Well for me this is close enough! 🎄

It’s only 26 days away from the 100 day countdown......

Evening all Smile
These shoes cost a damn fortune l didn't realise how much they are now but they were really expensive 20 yrs ago . We used to buy them Clarks and Clarks canvas ones for Summer. They have huge feet DD1 is an 9 DD2 is a 10 and wide as hell lol. DH is a 12 and l am a 7 so it is not surprising their feet are so big. They are both 6 ft tall though so it doesn't look odd.I suppose it would look more odd if they had little feet Grin.
Blacksmith fireside treats sound lovely what does it smell like?
Wreck is there nothing the NHS orthoptist can do to help make shoes for your DD m'dear ? Just wondering because all the DC l looked after all had boots made for them because they needed supports for their feet and ankles. Ahh bless you it is tough Flowers
am loving the sound of doing your window in work and your buys from Toys for a pound hope they are brilliant !
We all went shopping into town and to the market this morning bought loads of food , it is astonishing how much food we buy not sure we need it all but Xmas Grin. Have made some jam tarts and pizzas with the DDS , played draughts, chess, watched Countdown and tried to beat each other, l lost Xmas Grin and talked all afternoon , we have been bonding and it has been lovely too. Such a lovely day , DH is back to normal and it is such a relief.
Hope all having a lovely evening Xmas Grin

WreckTangled · 21/08/2018 18:42

Dd won't wear orthotics, she won't even wear soft splints! She currently has resting splints which she wears to bed as a compromise. You wouldn't know she had anything wrong just seeing her in the street so she doesn't like to draw attention to it Smile I have the same and tend to just wear trainers. My mum has special shoes though.

Mrsmadevans · 21/08/2018 18:49

Ahhh bless herWreck. l can only say good for her, although it is tough for you because the cost of the shoes is horrendous!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 21/08/2018 22:20

Yes DS2 had special boots when he was little, he's hypermobile. We used to call him Little Boots.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 21/08/2018 22:25

I've wrapped all DS2's presents, written his card and put them on his bed. 🎁🎁🎁🎁 DD will go to bed at 11. 😴

Morning! Lovely sunny start here. Meant to rain later, but we shall see!

Happy birthday to your DS2, PSB!🎉

Has anybody else got a house which is rammed with spindly spiders?! I let them stay as they apparently eat the big house spiders, but dear god, they're everywhere!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 22/08/2018 06:56

Morning! I can hear the DC, DS2 probably woke DD up, as it's his birthday! 😂 I'm in bed drinking coffee. Brew

Thanks Fluffy! 😆

AnotherShirtRuined · 22/08/2018 07:20

Happy birthday Perfectly's DS!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 22/08/2018 07:44

Thanks Another!
