UPDATE ON DH Smile
He is fine . Atrial Fibrillation gone and DH exhausted but back in sinus rhythm yay!! Xmas Grin

Redgreencoverplant · 20/08/2018 12:14

Fab news Mrs :)

FireflyGirl · 20/08/2018 12:38

Glad to hear that, MrsM

I must confess that I only know AF as Aunt Flo and I couldn't see how that applied to your DH... Blush

We don't blame DS at all. Lots of cuddles, a trip to the loo while Daddy changes the sheets and quickly back into bed. He is dry for weeks, sometimes months, then suddenly has a run of accidents. It usually ties in with him being ill/coming down with something/being overtired. He very, very rarely has an accident during the day.

I'm reluctant to put him in pull ups, because he is a lazy little bugger will always take the easy option and I'm worried he will just revert to weeing in them even when he could wake up and get to the loo.

We'll see how it goes. I couldn't get back to sleep after we changed him, was just laid there until 3, then just as I was finally drifting back off he woke up saying his leg hurt. He wasn't sure which one so I rubbed them both, and eventually got back to sleep just before 4am. I'm tempted to close my office door and nap under my desk...

FireflyGirl · 20/08/2018 12:39

How'd you get on at the dentist, Wreck?

FurForksSake · 20/08/2018 13:18

Glad to hear he is ok, my mum was recently diagnosed with AF, still trying to work out why.

DS1 had swimming this morning, he did so well, really pleased with him.

AnotherShirtRuined · 20/08/2018 13:25

Great news Mrs.

How old is your DS Firefly? My DS is nearly 6 and will have the occasional accident if he is ill or somehow extra tired. Once or twice I have also stepped in a puddle when checking on him before going to bed. My thinking is that he may have dreamt he went to the loo but not quite made it. A kind of sleep walking I suppose. Sometimes he won't even remember having been taken to the loo, washed, change of pants, etc., the next day.

CrazyBaubles · 20/08/2018 13:32

I'm another one without a proper fireplace. We have a chimney breast with an electric fire and a mirror above it. No mantelpiece sadly. I tend to put a set of red berry lights and a Santa ornament on top of the fire and a garland across the top of the mirror.

Wreck how was the dentist? Hope you're ok.

Mrsmad so glad your DH is feeling better!
I must admit I don't warm the plates so I'm not sure how well they retain heat. I tend to have the plates on the table and put everything else in large, heated serving platters instead.
My dm is a star though - she loves treating me and Dsis to things she knows we wouldn't buy (Dsis Isn't a Christmas nut like me. She had a lovely, grown up cheese board set instead of a dinner set).

Mrsmadevans · 20/08/2018 14:04

Ahhh Firefly bless you and your DH and your DS , l love to hear how caring you both are towards him and l agree with you re the Night pull ups.
DH feeling awful but in normal sinus rhythm , he always feels terrible after an attack , so we are closeted in the house just chilling. He will be fine by tomoz l am sure.
Fur there doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason why he has these attacks, he is very sensitive to caffeine though , we are so glad he has these pills in the pocket and they work for him. We had a bit of a nightmare before he had these given him, he used to have to go to hospital and be cardioverted and if they (the Drs) dilly dallied , after 24 hrs they wouldn't do it and made him go on Warfarin until his Blood was thin enough to be cardioverted which took 6 months!!! He hated the Warfarin they made him feel so ill. I so hope your DM can have these too , they have transformed our lives , really they have . He has to take them everywhere we go and take 3 together , within about 3-4 hrs he is back to normal sinus. Thank God. He has had it for about 10 years now and we just get on with normal life in between the attacks.
Well done to DS1 with his swimming too!
Thank you Another , l am so relieved he is ok.
Crazy what about wool bombing your chimney breast, am mad about it atm because we did it in knit and nat l only go for the nat can't knit to save my life Xmas Grin . Your DSis does not know what she is missing Xmas Grin , your Mum sounds a darling
Hope everyone ok and enjoying their day , DH gone for a lie down , we (DD1 & 2) are watching Shrek , the first one , l had forgotten how funny it was Xmas Grin

WreckTangled · 20/08/2018 18:04

Good news about dh Mrsd!

Dentist was fine, I do love my dentist might even fancy him a bit Grinand I don't need anything done and both dc are great too

PerverseConverse · 20/08/2018 18:08

I've booked onto a crochet class next month! I'm really excited 😊

FireflyGirl · 20/08/2018 18:10

He's 3, Another, and only been dry during the day since January. He has been mostly dry at night for about a year, which is why we stopped with nappies.

Crazy my DSis is a Grinch too Grin When I was off on maternity I used to walk her dog and in December I kept sneaking in decorations - coincidentally, one of them was a crocheted snowflake garland. In sparkly purple, because I needed to make it as tacky Christmassy as possible Grin

Does that count as wool bombing, MrsM?

AnotherShirtRuined · 20/08/2018 18:51

Then he's only little Firefly, and I'm sure he will be fine given time. I know that I don't worry about my DS, and he's quite a bit older.

I've made 7 Attic24 snowflakes so far. Two were practise runs but I think I've got the right -for me- hook size now. I hope you enjoy crocheting Converse.

FireflyGirl · 20/08/2018 19:15

Thanks Another. I'm not worried, just a mardy arse because I only had 4 hours sleep. And now I won't get anything done this evening as I'm too tired!

Well done on your snowflake progress! You should be done in a week at this rate!

Glad to hear dentist was okay, Wreck.

Mrsmadevans · 20/08/2018 20:16

Firefly yes definitely that counts as wool bombing espesh as you had to be sneaky lol Xmas Grin
Wreck that is great you don't have to have anything done phew!! Smile
DH is fine , made him a lovely cheese omelette for his tea (he wanted something light) and he is just eating a dish of Eton mess courtesy of DD2 . He has had a very quiet day, hopefully fully recovered by tomorrow morning.
Have a good evening everyone Smile

SideOrderofSprouts · 20/08/2018 20:36

Fantastic news mrs x

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 20/08/2018 21:19

Mrs if your DD1 can make it to Regent's Park on the 'teenth Sunday in August next year, she's more than welcome, she's just requested to bring something to add to the picnic and whatever she normally drinks. And I always take birthday cake! 😆

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 20/08/2018 21:24

Crazy I use the same argument for Christmas jumpers. We only have Christmas jumpers, we wear them whenever it's cold enough. 🎅🎄

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 20/08/2018 21:29

That's so sad re your bedwetting Mrs. Flowers And now you always come across as so happy and positive. I'm really impressed.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/08/2018 21:46

Mrs, I feel so sad for the young you. How awful. I hate to see that kind of thing; it's heartbreaking.

I'm glad your DH is recovering well. Must've been scary.

Long old day here. I'm glad to be in bed now!

Mrsmadevans · 20/08/2018 22:30

Ahhh PSB & Fluffy you are sweethearts that is so kind of you Smile, I think the reason l am happy and positive and able to cope with my childhood is because l read everything to escape it. I literally devoured books , Dickens and Delderfield , The secret Garden , Heidi, Black Beauty, Wind in the Willows you name it l read it . I loved to read so much. It made me forget everything while l was reading. I think the sadness l had when l was growing up has made me a better person tbh and l know that sounds nuts but l think it has. I love to care & help others it makes me feel good . Thank you so much for being so kind. I have forgiven my parents it was a very long time ago and things were so much harder then. The knowledge about health and care of children is so far removed from then. If you talked to others my age l think their lives would be the same if not worse. I am ok. I'm a survivor! Xmas Grin

Morning! Awful night's sleep here. I was awake from about 3am. Not good! My shoulder was really hurting overnight and kept me awake.

I hope everyone else had a better night!

FireflyGirl · 21/08/2018 06:26

I slept longer than I have in days, but I've woken up feeling groggy. Think it's a sleep hangover from yesterday.

No wet bed last night. Hurrah! I'm giving myself 10 minutes to MN, then I'll get dressed and rally the troops...

MrsM I'm picturing you like Miss Honey in Matilda...

AnotherShirtRuined · 21/08/2018 07:27

Mrs Your story really affirms that we are taking the right approach regarding our occasionally bed wetting DS (and really it's only a couple of times a year). We always stress that it's an accident that could happen to anyone and never make out that it's any kind of trouble to clean up. I can't see that changing should he continue it into his teens. Apart from involving him more in the clean up Xmas Smile

WreckTangled · 21/08/2018 07:53

Some people can be so cruel. Mrs Thanks

Mrsmadevans · 21/08/2018 09:05

Morning all Smile
DH back to normal YAY!! Smile
Fluffy is there anything you can do for your shoulder pain my dear. DH used Cocodamol , Voltarol cream and hot water bottles, he really was/is in agony and l have seen how bad it is so l feel for you Flowers. He was given Tramadol from the GP but he found they didn't help much so went back to the Cocodamol. He has physio on Thursday so hopefully it will help him . Fingers crossed you get your results and can get more help .
Firefly you are very kind but l am more like Miss Trunchbowl heehee Xmas Grin l love Matilda so do my DDS. It is such a sweet film, the little girl actor is perfect. I must watch it again . Smile
There is a very brave young lady on GMTV this morn, Hannah Witton who had to have an ileostomy because of her Ulcerative Colitis. She is a vlogger and has been showing what her stoma is like and what her life is like with this stoma. Talk about guts, she is amazing. I think good on her for helping others in her predicament.
Another , you are definitely doing the right thing , it is a nothing . Flowers
Thank you Wreck you are so kind everyone here is , quite the very best corner of Mumsnet Flowers
So am having another chill day, not even doing the parents , DSIS is today Xmas Grin, can thoroughly recommend it Xmas Grin. Have a great day all.
