I like chilli jam with hard goats cheese and crackers mmm

FireflyGirl · 19/08/2018 20:30

We'll have to be careful - the poncetastic posse will be around soon and they might think we are trying to steal their hand moulded, self smelted, authentic Venetian-hand-blown-glass-beaded tiaras Grin

I look with envy every year and always say I'm going to join in. I listed my current projects on there last year as motivation - they're still uncompleted, including DS's home made fabric advent calendar that I started the year he was born. This will be his 4th Christmas... Grin Grin

AnotherShirtRuined · 19/08/2018 20:31

Sounds yummy!

Firefly Just made my first Attic24 snowflake. Took about 20 minutes. Now I only have to do about 50 more Grin They'll be perfect for tree decorations if I can manage to block them correctly (never tried it before). Possibly some gift decs as well. I'm even starting to think about incorporating them in my first ever wreath attempt, but probably that's a project for another year. Thanks again for the link Smile

Mrsmadevans · 19/08/2018 20:55

Crazy, l love the Portmeirion Christmas crockery but DH won't countenance me having any , boo hiss, Bah Humbug!
Fluffy your chilli jam looks amazing well done!
Anothershirt l wondered about the necessity of knitting the full garments for the washing line too Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/08/2018 20:57

I love breaded onion rings with chilli jam. Spring rolls are nice with it as are tempura vegetables and breaded chicken.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2018 21:13

I use this recipe.

CrazyBaubles · 19/08/2018 21:25

Another it's one layer as I was just playing around with the pattern. Dsis spotted it and begged for it so I handed it over. I was considering 'proper' clothes for my own washing line but think a single layer is fine to be honest.

For snowflakes, I used a starch spray instead of blocking them properly. Just led them flat, made sure they were as I wanted them, sprayed, waited a few minutes, then turned and did the other spray. Worked quite well.

Fluffy that jam looks lovely. I've never had chilli jam but it sounds tasty, especially with cheese and crackers.

firefly snap - I think I joined the ponce thread last year then didn't finish the things I said I would 🙄

Mrsmad my DH was the same when I mentioned buying some. I even tried negotiating on something not as nice but he wouldn't have any of it. In the end, my DM bought me the set as we'd looked at it together in TK Max and she saw how much I loved it. She gave me the serving dish on Christmas Eve and the set on Christmas Day. DH's face was a picture (something like this > 🤨😔 as he knew it would be considered the start of a collections). Also, as it's a gift, DH's "it's a waste of money for the sake of 1 week per year" is null and void and it's more like one month of the year and randomly when I want tea in a Christmas mug-- Xmas Grin

Well I enjoyed my afternoon, I have full Spode, HobbyCraft, Matalan and Not on the high street baskets but haven't actually bought anything. I also added to my present ideas board on Pinterest 🎄🎄

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/08/2018 21:29

My living room doesn't have a fireplace 😪 so I'm busy thinking of alternatives for all my old mantelpiece decorations. There are 2 radiators though - would radiator covers look naff?

WreckTangled · 19/08/2018 21:34

We don't have a fireplace, well we have a chimney breast with a bloody great storage heater on it Hmm

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2018 21:35

No fireplace?! Can you add one?

You'll just have to move again, I'm afraid!

AnotherShirtRuined · 19/08/2018 21:42

I've just read that recipe through Fluffy. It's definitely going on my list! Luckily I have crab apples in the garden but I'm unsure of which type of chili to use. Which do you recommend?

ChristmasPuddingAllRound · 19/08/2018 22:14

Evening all, joining in the Xmas spirit. I have followed these boards since March but only just posting! I have 2 ds (twins) who are as mad on christmas as me and who sing Jingle Bells all year round! We started our Christmas food prep today infusing rum with fruit ready for the Holmegaard advent bottle! Crumbles, jams and chutneys galore as well. Love this time of year and the build up to December 🎅

Went to a big picnic in Regent's Park with the Tolkien Society, celebrated DS2's and my birthday there, his is on Wednesday, had cocktail sausages, mini egg bites, mini sausage rolls, mini beef pasties, onion bhajis, samosas, chocolate birthday cake, carrot cake, elderflower cider, lager and Fruit Shoots for the DC, DS2 fell asleep in our bed at 9.30, DD will go at 11. 😋🎂🍰🍺

FireflyGirl · 20/08/2018 00:45

DS wet the bed again, sigh. I took him before we went to sleep, there's not much more I can do.

The only part that bothers me is if he accidentally gets any of his pillows/blanket they have to go in the wash, and he gets really upset because he likes his bed just so. I will confess to sponging down his teddy and handing it back. There are some arguments I am not willing to have in the early hours...

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 20/08/2018 04:59

How old is he Firefly? Have you tried Dry Nites?

NoWordForFluffy · 20/08/2018 06:38

AnotherShirt, it depends how hot you want it. The standard packs of red chillies from supermarkets are fine. If you like a touch of zing, add a Scotch Bonnet or a few finger chillies to the mix.

Ours yesterday is a variety as I just used what we had in the garden! And most appear to be quite hot actually, so it packs a punch!

Overnight dryness is hormonal, so there's not much more you can do, Firefly. Those incontinence pads are really absorbent though. Saved my mattress when my waters went! And sponging down is fine!

AnotherShirtRuined · 20/08/2018 07:14

Thanks Fluffy, I'll see what varieties my local supermarket has in Smile

WreckTangled · 20/08/2018 07:53

Dentist today SadSadSad

NoWordForFluffy · 20/08/2018 08:13

Good luck, Wreck. 🍀

Mrsmadevans · 20/08/2018 08:46

Morning all Xmas Grin
Wreck..... Good luck my dear Flowers
DH has woke up with his AF so we are having a quiet morning until it eases. He takes a treatment called Flecinaid or pill in the pocket and usually within 3 hours it reverts to normal. Fingers crossed !

Mrsmadevans · 20/08/2018 08:51

Crazy. your mum is such a wonderful mum to get you THE crockery. l loved the 'when l randomly want to drink out of a Christmas mug' Xmas Grin
Only we know what you mean Xmas Smile,
l must buy this crockery , l have always loved it . one question though, when you heat the plates do they retain the heat until you have served the Chistmas dinner?

Mrsmadevans · 20/08/2018 08:54

Welcome Pud ! Xmas Grin

Mrsmadevans · 20/08/2018 09:07

PSB my DD1 loves Tolkien , she would have been over the moon to go to that picnic, hope you had a great time , your picnic sounds gorgeous !
Firefly , we had this with our DD1 we waited until she was 7 then had an alarm for 2 weeks , it was amazing , she was dry in a few nights . I is something to do with the nerves from the brain to the bladder being underdeveloped . My DB and l bedwet until we were in our teens, My parents were awful to us , they thought we were naughty Hmm , NAUGHTY Hmm. I ask you who in their right minds would want to bed wet and feel the shame that follows. My mum used to hang our peed sheets out of our bedroom windows to show the neighbours how 'naughty' we had been and to try to shame us into behaving . It was barbaric and very cruel of her. l feel like crying for the children we were. I have forgiven her . She didn't know any better but it has made me feel totally chilled about my own DD 1 and not worry or even raise my voice to her. I have a friend whose DS does it and his grandmother is like my mum was. I have told her in no uncertain terms that it isn't his fault and he feels ashamed , that is why he hides his wet incontinence pants in the wardrobe. Quite honestly it is very distressing to witness her anger and l consider it a form of child abuse. I have told hIs mum about it too , she is very upset but relies upon her mum for childcare so much , it is very difficult for her to do anything about it, poor thing.

Mrsmadevans · 20/08/2018 09:10

DH is ok not stopped yet but will keep you posted [smile ]
Thank you for listening to me , you are such a supportive bunch Flowers
