That's the way to end a night, Sprouts!

I'll have a look at somewhere different for brambles, but it was quite sad to see. Luckily, they usually recover quite quickly so next year should be fine!

NoWordForFluffy · 18/08/2018 20:13

I think if the soil is well-draining, they've suffered (the woods are sandy soil as they're right on the beach). Soil which retains water, like the clay at the allotments, has meant the canes fared better. That's my theory anyway.

WreckTangled · 18/08/2018 20:19

We have clay soil and our grass has been green all summer despite the heat and us not watering it.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/08/2018 20:26

Maybe there's something to my half-cocked theory! 😁

FurForksSake · 18/08/2018 20:26

We had kebabs for dinner, totally le yum. Duck for dinner tomorrow.

I am feeling so autumnal. really want a bramble crimble crumble.

DD will go to bed at 9.20. 😴

PerverseConverse · 18/08/2018 20:37

I had apple and blackberry crumble with custard last night with brambles we picked down the lane.

flapjackfairy · 18/08/2018 20:38

Thanks for all the lovely messages everyone.
Yes hopefully tomorrow is the day ! We are not being discharged but can go on ward leave to sleep in our own beds. I can't wait.

Redgreencoverplant · 19/08/2018 06:12

Fingers crossed for today flapjack!

Redgreencoverplant · 19/08/2018 06:14

Last night DH and were relaxing with some wine after DS was in bed and it was pretty dark so we put the lamps on and it felt so cosy :)

Morning! I'm the only one awake! In bed drinking coffee. Listening to FT news via the Google Assistant. Brew

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2018 07:10

It's getting seriously autumnal, isn't it? Though it was rather warm yesterday afternoon, which came as a surprise.

I'm the only one awake so far, though DS just yelled in his sleep so will likely be awake soon.

Redgreencoverplant · 19/08/2018 07:35

So envious of those of you who are the only ones awake. DS was up at 5:40 😭

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2018 07:48

It lasted about 30 seconds after my post!

DD went through a phase when she was about 18 months - 2 years getting up that early. You know it's bad as it's pre-CBeebies starting!

marl · 19/08/2018 08:02

Hi, I lurk every year on this thread so hoping I can join officially this year! I just found a cereal advent calendar on amazon. Do you reckon the sell by date would be ok for Christmas - presumably they can't be last year's left overs and have a date of, say, this October? It doesn't say on the site details and I have had no reply from a question. DSs have porridge every day so a cereal advent calendar would be their idea of heaven! (Poor little mites!)

Mamababynumber2 · 19/08/2018 08:03

Hi everyone!! Love to join this thread. Been buying presents since May. Our baby number 2 is also due 12th December 😀

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2018 08:05

Marl, I would think it is likely to be last year's. People who bought them weren't that impressed, from what I recall last year. But if that's his ideal advent calendar it might work well!

Welcome, Mama. Another thread baby. How exciting!

flapjackfairy · 19/08/2018 08:05

Marl Iam sure it would be in date and to be honest as cereal is dry it can be eaten way out of date anyway.

flapjackfairy · 19/08/2018 08:08

Oh crossed post with fluffy
Morning fluffy. I bow to your superior knowledge as I have never heard of these before.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2018 08:09

If it isn't in date you can get a refund. But I agree that it's likely to be fine anyway. DS eats Rice Krispies beyond their date and they're fine!

marl · 19/08/2018 08:24

Thanks all. Have just gone to order and the cereal advent calendar is no longer available. Ugh! It was fine two days ago. Ah well - I'll see if it goes back in this year's stock when the rest of the world starts thinking about Christmas , (once we have all finished our shopping and are smugly wrapping!)

WreckTangled · 19/08/2018 08:33

It's meant to get warm again in the next few days isn't it?

My dc have been sleeping later as it's the holidays. One morning ds didn't wake up until 8:45 Shock 7 this morning I think.

Red ds frequently used to wake at 5:30 when he was younger so there is light at the end of the tunnel!

WreckTangled · 19/08/2018 08:34

Also I'm really annoyed because the hot wheels advent calendar was down to £8 a week or two ago and I thought I would leave it until I get paid (next week) but now it's up to £17 SadAngry

FireflyGirl · 19/08/2018 08:38

If I remember rightly, Tesco had the Kellogs ones for about £4, marl. As counter intuitive as it seems to me, you might be better waiting until nearer the time and seeing if you can get them in-store.

Otherwise, even if they're past the best before date, they'll still be fine to eat, maybe just a little bit soft.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2018 08:38

Maybe your question about the date led to them removing it, Marl?

That's frustrating, Wreck. I hate that.

I've always been an early riser, my DC seem to take after me for now. I think I maybe slept in more as a teen, but not until then. Though from age 6 ish I was told to sort myself out and not wake others!
