I believe it's day 190

HOW did we get past the 200 mark so fast? And only 12 Days until Christmas in July starts, for anyone who celebrates that.

Afternoon all Smile
l have always been very lax re chicken pox even though l was a childrens nurse for 38 yrs Hmm. I really never thought about the immunocompromised among us . I would now though of course because of my Dad and his illness. So l can see why PSB would take her DS out although l would not do it now because l realise . I suppose chicken pox when mine were little was not worried about, in fact they used to have pox parties , l kid you not ! I never went to one but Chickenpox was thought to be a mild illness for children and yet terrible for adults so it was better if they had it while they were young Hmm
We have been to the parents and sorted them out , it is such a lot of work , l had to go and buy bloody crystalised ginger for my dad because he likes to chew on it if he has indigestion. I ask you who chews on ginger for indigestion???? Anyway l got him some and l feel bad saying this but it is hard work on times. The sarnie fillings l asked him did he want, l must have given him a choice of 10 in the end he plumped for cheese and tomato 'don't cut the cheese too thick' Grin.
He has a new game now he blows a horn , he is scaring the Magpies & Jackdaws away from the bird food in the garden, l said to him they all have to eat ! He is like a kid!!
In all this l love them to bits but grrrrrr sometimes lol !
Hope you are all having a lovely afternoon we are watching the match atm and think Spain woz robbed of a penalty and if they lose now from penalties it will be a travesty!!!

Mrsmadevans · 01/07/2018 17:35

I must tell you we never watch footie just the World cup and l still don't know why ! lol Grin

SideOrderofSprouts · 01/07/2018 17:53

We just had enchiladas for tea tonight

Mrsmadevans · 01/07/2018 18:00

That sounds delicious Sprout ,we don't know wth to have. l would be just as happy eating a bowl of cereal tbh, it is so hot here and l just feel l can't be bothered to do anything !

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2018 18:49

A chicken pox party with informed consent is totally different to inflicting a poxy child on unsuspecting members of the public.

Bearing in mind PSB’s eldest son is immunocompromised, I would have expected her to realise that it wasn’t on to take her DS2 out. But hey ho.

Morning! Still no end in sight to this weather. Thankfully getting cooler after today though, apparently. And a tiny chance of a thunderstorm on Thurs (though I'd rather the rain fell near reservoirs if it falls anywhere!).

We are going to be subject to a hosepipe ban from today, it seems. Which feels quite retro; don't recall the last one!

Mrsmadevans · 02/07/2018 08:26

Morning all Smile
What a beautiful day off for a walk down Goldcliff early and then back for more footie lol
Is anyone else like me and avoiding the Saddleworth Moor fire on the news? Or is it me? l just hate to see the moor looking like that and thinking about all the animals and birds being killed and to think the other moorland fire was arson as well, it just makes you cringe inside , who could be so cruel and heartless.
We haven't got a ban here so DH is very happy Smile
Hope everyone has the most lovely day Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 02/07/2018 08:54

There's a fire at Winter Hill too, Mrs. They've charged a bloke with arson and helicopters have seen others lighting fires too. What utter twats; it's evil.

BiddyPop · 02/07/2018 09:09

Morning all. We’ve got a hose pipe ban started this morning - my poor veggies were already suffering with some watering.

Not a lot done on Christmas - started another scarf this morning, a nice chunky wool one. I have to go back a few rows on the one I’m doing at home as I dropped a stitch, ugh.

Work still manic. Big (horrible) meeting this morning. Home manic - DSis visiting this week, bed made for her but chaos elsewhere . Big sailing event next weekend so we’re all going, I need to sort and pack midweek. But the heat is lovely and it’s making me slow down, which is a good thing!

Handed in DS2's homework and reading book, had scrambled eggs on a bagel (at home), DS2 had cheese curls and a gingerbread man as he'd already had breakfast, he had saveloys and chicken satay skewers for lunch. 😋🍗

blacksmiths09 · 02/07/2018 14:56

I’ve just watched the first two Xmas movies showing on Movies 24 this week (Journey back to Christmas and Enchanted Christmas)

I’m SERIOUSLY thinking of going up into the loft and getting down a little 2ft Xmas tree to put on the coffee table with a few Xmas candles to burn for tonight/the rest of the week? 🎄🎄🎄

Morning! More hot weather today. It is meant to drop to low 20s soon though, thankfully. No rain, but cooler at least. My mum said that 1976 was a bit like this, but worse (and she was pregnant during it too, poor thing!

Mrsmadevans · 03/07/2018 07:51

Morning all Smile
Funeral this afternoon , DH friends mum , she was 99 and had a wonderful life so more of a celebration of her life really. Although DH friend will be devastated of course.
Fluffy l hope the fires are put out very soon , so tragic and yes pure evil. No hose pipe ban here yet , we are going to check the reservoirs tomorrow which will give us more of an idea of the water levels l suppose Hmm
The birds are waking us up very early because of the heat we have the windows open . It is like 'Hitchcock' lol
We picked up the new car yesterday, it is lovely even if l do say so myself , so comfy. Will put a pic on , DH loves it Grin he is like a kid in a toy shop .
Have a lovely day everyone Grin

Hi all!
Guess who fell off again!

Hope you are all well! Mega hot here, hoping for a bit of rain as the garden is looking decidedly brown!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 03/07/2018 10:41

I had my 9th birthday in August 1976, I spent the whole day in a tent made from a clothes horse and a blanket with a nosebleed, while my friends ran about in the sun. 😭

BiddyPop · 03/07/2018 12:22

Lovely car MrsMad, may you have many years enjoying her!

I remember 1976, vaguely. It was a pretty good summer in 2006 as well, I spent a lot of time out on a rug with baby DD. And 1990 was another scorcher (World Cup interfering with InterCert exams....and definitely lots of brown grass around).

Given that the cold weather hung around a long time this winter with a blocking (high/low? must ask OYBBK/GloriaSmud) pressure system, I wonder is that what is happening now again with the hot dry weather? And is this really climate change in action? (And even more importantly, is it likely that we will start to get snow before the all important date in December so we can have a real White Christmas sometime here?!!).

Meeting yesterday was worse than I feared. I have to go back and re-do a large chunk of a major project we're working on for the past 4 years. S**t......'scuse me swearing.

DD couldn't face chilli for dinner last night, but wanted something cold or sausage rolls or similar. She did eventually compromise on having the chilli in taco shells, with the bits like fajitas (sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, corn, salsa, grated cheese) to add. So I did that for us all as it was a bit lighter.

A late start today - DH had a very early flight again, and DD was tired so I let her sleep a bit late (she was just about on time for her camp, but did ring to say she'd forgotten water shoes and has to wear her runners which will get soaked in seawater). I'm going deep into legal issues, so a bit of light relief is needed.

I may have a look at the Movies24 schedule, and tape a few things for myself (DH deleted the ones I had taped and not yet watched, the brat, so a little light relief at home could be good too).

Have a good day everyone!

I was in Glasgow and pg with DS1 in 1990, another nosebleed, I used a whole toilet roll watching the World Cup! 😭

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 03/07/2018 17:37

Had a big breakfast and a banana, DS2 had cheese curls and a chocolate bar, he had chicken satay skewers and turkey for lunch, picked DD up, had chicken jalfrezi for supper, DS2 will go to bed at 6.30. 😋🍳🍌🍫🍗🍗🍗😴

SideOrderofSprouts · 03/07/2018 19:12

Didn’t get the job 😭

Redgreencoverplant · 03/07/2018 19:17

Oh no sorry to hear that sprouts :(

NoWordForFluffy · 03/07/2018 19:59

Oh no, Sprouts, sorry to hear that. Hopefully there’ll be a next time soon.

Our garden is in full swing. Crazy how big the tomatoes are now. Triffid time alright. We’re getting quite a few peppers too. It’s great!

I hope the funeral went well, Mrs. Lovely car!
