I believe it's day 190

HOW did we get past the 200 mark so fast? And only 12 Days until Christmas in July starts, for anyone who celebrates that.

Winter. Autumn. I love both.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/06/2018 19:10

Autumn and spring are my two favourite seasons. The colours and crispness of autumn and the new beginnings of spring!

Speaking of crisp. I’m a touch crispy now. I’ve been outside gardening today and I’ve gone a deep brown, but I just feel a touch crisp too! On the up side, my carrots are now thinned out.

The kids were knackered as they’ve played hard in the heat today, so they were both asleep by 7! I have a lovely drink next to me. Annnnnnnnnd relax!

I have heat rash so will join in the longing for autumn!

blacksmiths09 · 30/06/2018 20:43

I’m afraid I’m a bit of a saddo when it comes to summer. I love the sun to a certain extent, but come the evening I just long for it to be dark and cold. I know I’m in a minority. Lol.

I love a cold dark bedroom at night as well. I’d rather snuggle up in a thick quilt than melt and sweat.

Went to the McDonald's Happy Meal launch, had some very nice food, the DC played games, DS2 wasn't allowed face painting because of the chickenpox and it would have hurt anyway, DD declared herself too old for face paint! Give it 6 years when she's off to festivals! 😂

Had tuna pasta bake and garlic bread for supper, DS2's asleep, DD will go to bed at 9.20. 😋🐟😴

NoWordForFluffy · 30/06/2018 21:50

You took your contagious DS to McDonalds?!?! 😱😱😱😱 What on Earth were you thinking?

Sorry, PSB, but that is utterly outrageous behaviour on your part.

Morning! Yet another glorious day! It's been two months of amazing weather so far. We reckon it'll break just before we go away in a few weeks' time! That would be pretty standard.

SideOrderofSprouts · 01/07/2018 08:54

Woooow about the chicken pox and McDonald’s. Uncool

Pinch punch first of the month!

SideOrderofSprouts · 01/07/2018 08:55

Oh and it’s rainjng here. A nice relief from
The heat

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 01/07/2018 09:00

Blush again.

Morning! The DC are playing in their room.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2018 09:39

I'd kill for some rain. But overnight! We have no sign of rain at all over the 10 day forecast. One day it'll rain again!

Did you not consider that you shouldn't take him, PSB? Your DH should've looked after him at home.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 01/07/2018 10:12

Had Disney Cars cereal and chocolate pancakes (no one had both!). 😋🚗🚘🍫

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 01/07/2018 10:23

He couldn't, he wasn't there. Also, he's not capable of looking after either of them, like a lot of fathers.

I weighed up the risks. I wasn't going to post this, because I was trying to avoid a row. He's not coughing or sneezing, and he understands that he shouldn't touch other children until all the spots have crusted over. We sat at the back, he did join in with some of the games, but refused face paint as I told him to.

As it was the follow up to the focus group I took part in through MN, I felt like I would have been letting MNHQ down if I'd dropped out.

He'll have to come out with me all week, as DH works, I have no choice.

Decisions like this are difficult for me, which I now know is because I'm autistic, both decisions seemed like the wrong decision to me.

Knowing how chickenpox spreads, people were at zero risk from DS2.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2018 10:40

It's actually airborne, so I'm afraid they are at risk. You simply cannot take him out until his spots are crusted over.

And it's a cop out saying fathers can't care for their kids. Of course they bloody can. My DH is a SAHD; he has had ours alone since DD was 18 months and DS 5 months. I wouldn't have had kids with someone I thought was incapable of caring for them.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 01/07/2018 10:54

He can't, he's fucking useless. He's had to do it with each of them once, and he didn't feed them or anything. This is the man who wants to be an SAHD when he retires, and me go out to work.

He took them to the park once to play football when DS2 was potty training, expected me to put him in Pull Ups, which he hadn't been in during the day for weeks, then said he'd bring him home for me to change if he had an accident. I sent them off with a spare pair of pants and shorts in a bag.

And as I said before, DH wasn't at home.

Chickenpox is spread by coughs and sneezes, and coming into contact with the blisters. He hasn't coughed or sneezed since he's had it, and was under strict orders not to touch anyone, which he obeyed.

And do you suggest I leave him at home while I take DD to school? DH leaves for work at 6.30.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2018 11:14

How far is your DD's school? Hasn't she got friends she can go with? Or go alone if it's not far? How about your aunt helping? Or other family?

The school run is marginally less risky than being indoors if you have ABSOLUTELY no other options, but it's irresponsible to just do it without trying to find another way round it.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 01/07/2018 11:41

They're not allowed to walk to school on their own until yr6, school rules. Both my aunts live in Beds. The only family I have in London are DM who's nearly 73 and couldn't deal with him, plus she lives with DS1, who has CF and definitely can't get chickenpox as he has a compromised immune system.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2018 12:14

She must have friends, surely? I can think of 3 families who'd help us, without putting much thought into it at all.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 01/07/2018 12:22

None who live in this direction. Either they or DD would have to go quite a way out of their way. Most people seem to live a lot closer to to the school.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 01/07/2018 12:23

Making a lasagne for lunch. 😋

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/07/2018 13:11

Cooking is a bit beyond me in this heat. I browned a bit of mince and chucked a chilli in the slow cooker and that's pretty much the extent of my kitchen time today. I ate my lunch in the garden and got absolutely covered in thunder flies so I'm now hiding inside away from the little buggers.

I'm packing for DS's residential and I have to take him to church this afternoon. )There is a school service and he's an altar boy). I have advised him to take his tshirt off before he puts his robes on. It gets very hot up there and he nearly fainted last week.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2018 13:33

There were loads of flies around us yesterday while we were eating our BBQ. It was grim to say the least!

I feel for your poor DS, that sounds hideous.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2018 14:26

I've reported to MNHQ that you went to the focus group with a contagious child, PSB. I think the attendees need to know in case they have an immunocompromised relative they now need to avoid or if they're pregnant.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 01/07/2018 16:59

Making chicken casserole for supper. 😋🍗

Fair enough Fluffy.
