I’m looking for ideas. What’s everyone doing?

OP posts:
Xenadog · 29/11/2017 06:49

Porkpie and pickle. It’s the law!

readyforno2 · 29/11/2017 07:37

Croissants with bacon and Brie and cranberry sauce.
Glass accidentally bottle of prosecco for Dh and I. Nice fresh orange for the dc

Notreallyarsed · 29/11/2017 07:39

Full Scottish fry up (black pudding, haggis and tattie scone included) and French toast for DS1 as he hates fry ups. Christmas dinner isn’t until about 3.30-4 so it works.

BeeFace · 29/11/2017 07:40

It’s always smoked salmon on toasted brown bread. With the crusts cut off. Special for Christmas like.

wasMissD · 29/11/2017 07:44

Oh, we're so bad in our house! We have those part-baked baguettes with sausage and bacon, with Buck's Fizz 😁

RJnomore1 · 29/11/2017 07:45

Panettone French toast and Buck's Fizz.

dantdmistedious · 29/11/2017 07:47

Buck's Fizz.

The kids will probably have croissants

Bluntness100 · 29/11/2017 07:54

Always rhe same for us and similar to many on here, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, croissants and champagne. Served late morning.

Everythingwillbeok · 29/11/2017 08:32

I'm doing a buffet breakfast this year I think, everyone can help themselves then.
I'm going to do some smoked salmon and lemon wedges, melba toast, scrambled eggs, fruit skewers with melted chocolate and sausages, bacon and mushrooms with some muffins.
I suspect I'll have some of everthing with champagne before 9am Blush

ThunderboltsLightning · 29/11/2017 08:56

Toast and rum butter!

StellaHeyStella · 29/11/2017 08:56

Chocolate for DC and champagne for me and DH.

Battleax · 29/11/2017 08:59

This Christmas excess nonsense is out of control if you can't work out what to have for breakfast without help from 100 people.

BitOutOfPractice · 29/11/2017 09:05

I think the OP and everyone on this thread is just musing and being nosy Battleax. I'm sure the OP wouldn't have just not have breakfast if not for this thread

Battleax · 29/11/2017 09:10

But why not just follow your own preference or family tradition?

It suddenly seems as though Christmas has become an exercise in competitive elaboration.

Sorry the hijacking of the whole thing is getting to me Sad

I think I need to start hiding threads before someone mentions Christmas bedding or Christmas Eve trunks again

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 29/11/2017 09:13

Nothing - well a cup of tea but no food, to save room for Christmas dinner. We don't eat breakfast normally though so haven't got the habit.

BitOutOfPractice · 29/11/2017 09:13

Perhaps she's just looking for new ideas? I'm sure she will follow her own preference. Maybe they have no breakfast "tradition"

Seriously I get that there are loads of really annoying Chris-petative oneupmanship style threads on MN at the moment and most of them annoy me too but I don't think this is the worst at all. And in fairness it says what it's about in the title so don't open it if you're avoiding Christmas madness

Having said that, I hope you're OK

isittheholidaysyet · 29/11/2017 09:16

My DH's family always did a full English. As that is his favourite meal in the world, we have continued the tradition.
Except that a full English is far too much to eat on when you have a turkey dinner a few hours later!

DH has to be at work by 8am on Christmas morning. So he has a full English. The rest of us have a few cooked items. There are also kids cereals, muffins, croissants and crumpets on offer to those who want.

redexpat · 29/11/2017 09:17

Pancakes.

Halfdrankbrew · 29/11/2017 09:25

I didn't realise Christmas breakfast was a thing? Can't believe the amount of people who have a drink too. Slice of toast and a brew in this house, between unwrapping presents. It was the same at home when I was a child too.

I don't think I could manage a big cooked breakfast on top of everything else we eat later in the day.

elQuintoConyo · 29/11/2017 09:28

Last year was Aldi panettone heated for 15 seconds in the microwave (melts the butter) and coffee, small hot chocolate for ds.

This year pancakes because ds will be getting the gingerbread man frying pan in his stocking.

We don't have anything traditional as in same-every-year for breakfast. We don't have much traditional food for Christmas lunch either! Stop the press!

123MothergotafleA · 29/11/2017 09:28

Selection of juices and fruit, we like orange and raspberry juice. Croissants with best strawberry jam, lashings of tea and good coffee and maybe scrambled eggs with smoked salmon.

AmysTiara · 29/11/2017 09:28

Chocolate.

Goldenhandshake · 29/11/2017 09:30

Sausage sandwiches. We don't have christmas dinner until around 5pm, so a fair sized breakfast is required, chocolates are grazed on through the day

Bluntness100 · 29/11/2017 09:37

It doesn’t need to be big though. You can have any portion size you want. The point reallly is having something you don’t usually have to make an occasion of it, taking your time and eating all together.

If you eat about ten am and aren’t eating again till say four pm, it’s a fair while between meals and as said. You don’t have to stuff yourself.

trixymalixy · 29/11/2017 09:40

smoked salmon, scrambled egg and champagne for the adults.

I made a puff pastry and chocolate spread tree thing from pinterest for the kids last year as they're both allergic to egg, so I'll do that again this year unless i think of something else.
