Oh does anyone have the Magic Tracks car set? Is it any good?

DD loved it when we were in Smyths the other day and I'm wondering about getting her that, rather than a wheelie motorbike (she is 3 and tells us "When I grow up I'm going to have a motorbike". That's rather like DS who thinks he's going to have a dog when he's 6, but we'll gloss over that for the moment).

LittleMousewithcloggson · 19/09/2017 11:26

Ok.....
I have requests for-

Personalised gymnastics bag
Personalised tennis racket cover

Anyone got any ideas? Suspect the bag will be easier than the racket cover!

bunningsbunny · 19/09/2017 11:34

Thanks margaritas - don't think I've ever had an OMG before Grin

The lego character bag codes trick works with most character/collectible/money-extorting bags - just google the name of the type of bag you're interested in, any series details and name, then code - and there's usually a list of how to figure out what is in each bag available. Very useful, but not always very easy to spot the codes on the bags, especially if they are just using raised bumps! There has to be some way for them to tell in order for them to keep track of the different types within a set, in case of problems. They just don't want people to be able to go and choose the ones they want straight off, they want you to buy several before you get the one you want!

drspouse not sure how good the magic tracks thing is in smyths - ds was smitten with it in there too at the start of the summer. I noticed that on the link somebody posted earlier of ebay best selling toys, magic tracks were selling for about £3-£4. No idea what the quality would be like but don't think the ones in smyths looked that good.

We've had them previously years ago when they were called something different /made by someone else and had a train or dinosaur that raced around I seem to remember, they were ok but you need a lot of the tracks to make an interesting track...

Ooh a thread baby! Congrats totally

I only found problems with Tesco wooden track, every other type fitted fine. Ikea can be a little stiff but you can pop out the plastic connector to change from a male to a female set very easily which opens up possibilities when you get into junctions, bridges, level crossings and the roundabout thingie.

VoldemortsNipple · 19/09/2017 11:57

Congrats Totally 💐

MrsCrimbo74 · 19/09/2017 12:04

Whilst looking on another thread Blush (how dare I) there was talk of buying the Games of Throne tour as a gift, so in case anyone on this thread is interested on buyagift.co.uk they're doing the Game of Thrones tours for £80 but with code XMAS98 it brings it down to £60. Might be a nice idea for anyone who is a fan, just bear in mind it's in Ireland so flights will needed to be added

flatmouse · 19/09/2017 12:13

Livingsocial has "if you can read this bring a glass of wine" socks - have been eyeing them up for ages (think seen on FB), but only found in US. Treats on Trend sell them for £9.99, but livingsocial voucher has them at £2.99 + £1.99 del. (Can buy multiples, don't know if del per item or can get multiples within one del.)

drspouse · 19/09/2017 12:16

I think I'll skip the Magic Tracks then.

I've just got a coffee delivery with tiggers code, mine is KATIE-D02163

If I get another code I'll order for my DF as well but the first one is for DH.

arthurbaby · 19/09/2017 12:16

Any suggestions of where to get Mr Men wellies, drinks bottle, socks etc for my 3 year old? I've tried the supermarkets. We have all the books and she would love some bits and pieces in her stocking.

drspouse · 19/09/2017 12:19

I'd go for Ebay for that type of thing arthur.

starlight36 · 19/09/2017 12:25

Congratulations totally.

Joining in with the train track chat. We originally got BigJigs but have topped up with John Lewis. The train shed in particular was much cheaper than BigJigs but matches well as it is the same red brick colour as our BigJigs station. John Lewis do a track extension pack which is great value and we've found they often include train sets in the regular money off JL branded toys to make it even more of a bargain.

Tatty thank you Flowers for the fingerlings tip off on Amazon - on my DD's Christmas list and I did not want to pay £15!!!

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 19/09/2017 13:14

Spotted these books in Aldi. There's dinosaur, pirate, safari, fairies and horse/unicorns. Thought it was a different idea to colouring or sticker books. You scratch the black surface off to create patterns. A bit like you do at bonfire night at school!
