Wine I personally prefer Bigjigs rail stuff to Brio. Haven't had ikea so can't comment on that but in general I find that track sold anywhere is fine, but I much prefer the accessories like bridges/tunnels etc from bigjigs/brio. We play with ds1's set most weeks and still add bits to it for birthday/Christmas.

My advice if you think you're going to get lots of use out if it is to buy extra track section packs - some curves, different sized straights, forked bits, crossroads etc, and some male/male and female/female sections (sometimes when you add crossroads/forked sections of track it changes the configuration so you need some double bits for it to all join together in a circle iykwim.)

Wilko is good for some of the crossroad/forked bits of track. I can't tell it from our bigjigs stuff.

winewolf all track from different brands is comparatively with each other, except Ikea which doesn't quite fit. We got the John Lewis track set last year for DS, and have bought a few Bigjigs and Brio accessories to go with it. Quality is great and the JL set was a lot cheaper than Brio.

Ikea has plastic male ends (😂) and they can be a bit tricky to fit together.

Big jigs and similar are great, brio has really fun bridges. I agree get extra track splitter and same end pieces they are really useful!

Keep an eye on Amazon Lightning Deals as I've found some Bigjigs bargains that way.

Does anyone know whether the amazon baby box stocks lasted a while last year? I'm worried my DH will think I'm jinxing things for us if I order some things for us, (but sorely tempted) and have already sorted friend's presents who are due with lovely cuski things so big it is a very good idea!!! What to do?!!!
