Meh, I ignore all sell by and best before dates. Particularly on chocolate. Crisps can go a bit soft, but with chocolate if it looks okay it usually tastes fine.

Rugger I never thought of Tetris music. Plan for next time! Grin

FridgeCut · 19/09/2017 13:16

Ocado order came with sugar and condensed milk for fudge making (at christmas, not now), stuff to make my gravy, red cabbage and stuffing. I reckon they'll be fine for three months in the freezer. I pay little attention to freezer times. I'll make it at the weekend so that should be ok.

I am seriously considering buying no tins of sweets. I may relent, but I don't think I want them this year.

HairsprayBabe · 19/09/2017 13:30

Just put the choccy in naice glass bowls around the place when ever you have people over, they will be snaffled up in no time!

HairsprayBabe · 19/09/2017 13:31

I just found a note to myself from last christmas it says in big red letters "BUY LESS CHEESE"

Happy to ignore myself!

FridgeCut · 19/09/2017 13:43

Our kids are too little and too dairy free to leave chocs lying around. If I buy them I will eat them.

HairsprayBabe · 19/09/2017 14:01

Ah yes I forgot about that, it would be a hideous solution for me also, as I have no will power!

Could you just buy a small box of fancy choccies rather than a huge tub of sweets, that way you are indulging without the massive calorie intake!

BiddyPop · 19/09/2017 14:05

Hairspray I think you found DH's note! Xmas Grin We're not dreadful on tubs of sweets, we don't buy them but get a few from various relatives (and I got one from a grateful parent of a Cub Scout Xmas Smile which was nice). But we all love cheese, and I have been known to, ahem, go slightly overboard at Christmas.....

Although I do have a lovely recipe for potato gratin using up turkey stock, leftover ham shredded, some rosemary and garlic, and a good chunk of stilton!! Nom nom nom.....

(I know - I still haven't sat down at home with my computer for the other recipe..)

Today, I am more trying to find resources for Cubs (to teach them about tides mainly, and some other marine flora/fauna bits) than thinking about Christmas.

But I am enjoying a nice spicy pumpkin soup from the freezer for lunch (I need to make some space to start filling it with goodies!!).

HairsprayBabe · 19/09/2017 14:24

My freezer is very very full,
I started cooking extra portions of dinners and freezing them for later but I love cooking fresh so I now have freezer full of leftovers that I don't ever have the inclination to eat....

Currently I have
6 portions of curry
4 portions of tagine
2 portions of stuffed cabbage
2 portions of braised red cabbage
2 portions of ratatouille
1 portion of vegetable casserole
2 portions of chilli
4 portions of spicy thai soup
3 portions of sausage casserole

Plus various ice cubes of veg purees to go into other dishes and meals, a few meals worth of frozen salsa and guacamole, frozen cheese sauce etc.

Plus all the usual freezer stuff, frozen veg, some meat etc.

I have good intentions!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2017 17:17

I'm another one who buys too much cheese (is there such a thing?!) at Christmas. I bloody love the stuff. I'm not bothered about sweets as much, but I've always preferred savoury snacks in general!

Mrsmadevans · 19/09/2017 18:22

I love food full stop !
I too would eat the sweeties and I actually like the crisps when they are softer gone off. Ibuy the Aldi chese and onion bc they are already soft. l must confess l have a real problemo with food . l am dieting like hell in readiness for a good scoff at xmas I kid you not!!!

FireflyGirl · 19/09/2017 20:57

I've just had a memory crop up on my Facebook, and I was really impressed and thought you lot might appreciate it.

An anagram of my full maiden name was 'Dorkier every Yules' Xmas Grin It's always been true!

FridgeCut · 19/09/2017 21:11

Hairspray - I intend to buy a selection of the chocs I actually like, seashells, maltesers, fudge, double deckers...

FireflyGirl · 19/09/2017 21:18

MrsM I'm dieting for Christmas as well. Having a fixed end point when I know I can indulge myself is really motivating for me, and I'm really enjoying planning what I'm going to eat over the Christmas period snarky look at M&S. I did really well last year then lost my oomph after Christmas.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/09/2017 06:51

Firefly, you had a very long maiden name!

Loving the anagram though. Xmas Grin

HairsprayBabe · 20/09/2017 07:17

That's the best way fridge if there are treats and snacks floating around I will eat them, whether I love them or only think they are ok.

I love twiglets at christmas time, never have them any other time of the year!

Saw Mr Kiplings "Festive Bakewells" in Teaco last night and was v tempted but held back! Not seen much Halloween stuff yet other than a few costumes... we are having a halloween party and I need to stock up!

FridgeCut · 20/09/2017 11:57

YEP, so less snacks but better more fulfilling snacks this year. I am a fiend and will eat anything lying around.

HairsprayBabe · 20/09/2017 11:59

I am the same, just mindless nibbling if stuff is there I will eat it!

OhOurBilly · 20/09/2017 12:21

These were in our b&m yesterday!! Plus some Christmas cards and a few bits of paper and ribbon. I squeaked with excitement,

We're rocking around the Christmas tree, waiting for Santa to come to town. It's countdown to Christmas thread 4!!
CbeebiesAddict · 20/09/2017 12:22

I forgot to mention I saw my first Christmas tree on Saturday! In a pub that has had it up since July!!!!!

FridgeCut · 20/09/2017 12:36

I have to go and buy me a Reeses one!!

NoWordForFluffy · 20/09/2017 12:49

I've just been to John Lewis on my lunch break and there's still a space cleared for their decorations to be displayed, but nothing out yet. Hopefully soon though!

AhYaBastart · 20/09/2017 14:57

Just booked panto tickets! Booked for the 20th of December. Forgot that schools finish that day, so am feeling very pleased! Also, the Christmas pyjamas I ordered for my greyhound are on the way Grin

FridgeCut · 20/09/2017 16:28

I need a picture of a greyhound in christmas PJs. NEED.

My matalan order came, I need to figure out how the elf can change the bedding on my 4 year old's bed while he sleeps. I think I have a spare duvet so we will do a bait and switch while he is deep sleep.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/09/2017 17:07

We have different sheets for our Christmas bedding, so won't be doing that trick. Plus DD is liable to be upset if we do that without discussing it with her (that girl knows her own mind and likes things just so!). 🙈😂
