We used to live in Singapore and had loads of American friends so I used to get Fall or things with Thankful on them from American shops, there were so many decorations even I (with limited craft skills) could make the house look nice!

However the word is Autumn and I got rid of most of my Fall things.

We have a wreath on the door and a glass pumpkin I put on the mantle along with a garland of dried and fake apples and oranges cut in slices. That has dried (I think) wheat in it too. I have a fake flower/autumn dried things vase that goes on the hallway table and I switch out my candles so they smell like cinnamon or apples. I go about
Igniting all the lamps at the windows and in corners so there's a soft light and get the salt lamps out too for a nice cosy glow.

I fill hurricane vases with conkers, acorns or pretty leaves and a candle or my lanterns with just the conkers and some spray painted silver at the tips pine cones.

I've also got Thankful bunting that hangs from the mantle and another one for over the extractor fan in the kitchen between the 2 cupboards.

Other than that it's just cushions that get thrown about and checked blankets put in the living room in picnic blankets.

oooh it's getting properly close now. I no longer feel smugly organised waaaay in advance. Were in double digits now and I still have so much to do. Panic! Xmas Grin

flapjackfairy · 16/09/2017 07:52

Ooh i havent been on for a while. Real life got in the way derailing my momentum somewhat so i am massively surprised and delighted to see that we are under 100 days and on the downward slope as it were . Hope you missed me ! Grin
I decided to start wrapping and sorting presents already bought the other day but dd had nicked my large sellotape dispenser and helpfully forgotten where she put it. I tried to struggle on with normal roll but gave up 3 pressies in due to getting entangled in it and losing the end approx every 30 seconds on average! I need to buy a new one as really in the mood to get stuck in now.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2017 07:54

I wrap with DH. He's my sellotape dispenser! Xmas Grin

Just slipping in so I'm on this thread.. today is a kids free day and I'm going to shop till my card explodes. A lot to get today and a good few Xmas bits in the list.. what's the foods you buy in advance that won't go off and you'll use. I've created a new shelving unit cubby thing and so far it's got chocolate and alcohol and flour and cookie dough 😱 so really healthy stuff 😂 ho ho ho 99 days to go

tootsieglitterballs · 16/09/2017 07:57

Yey - new thread! Shall spend a morning catching up on everything after an entire day of reading no Christmas threads yesterday!

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2017 08:17

I bought biscuits from M&S' 2 for £7 range the other day. All of the dates last until at least the end of Jan. I also bought boxes of chocolates for the teachers. Then discovered a 2nd TA I'd forgotten about need to go back for another box. I'll buy mini bottles of Prosecco to go with them and then they're sorted. I'd rather get them something they can re-gift if necessary!

TheWoollybacksWife · 16/09/2017 09:46

I'm in the slightly strange position of being friends with both teacher and TA in my DS's class. So I know I'm on safe ground with wine Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2017 09:49

I'm sure we never used to give gifts to teachers etc! I'm sure that if they're nice people they're grateful for whatever they get. 😁 Or at least act it! 😂

QuimJongUn · 16/09/2017 09:53

Christmas UK has gone full tilt from today Xmas Grin

Polyanthus · 16/09/2017 10:03

Thanks for the Hollister tip. Just ordered some jeans for my tall skinny son - not for Christmas but I did add some stocking fillers for my daughter into my order. They have their body washes for £2.99 and also a 2 pack of headbands. (Also lip gloss for £1.99 and a couple of necklaces around a fiver and perfume for around a tenner - didn't get these but may be useful for someone else!).

As pp said, there is free delivery on all orders this weekend and using code 32198 gives another 10% off 1 item or 15% off 3 or 25% off 4.

What did you get, Sprouts?

Stompythedinosaur · 16/09/2017 18:47

Glad to know I'm not the only one thinking about wrapping - I have a bit of a wrapping obsession.

Teacher/TA presents are something I haven't begun to contemplate though. Did chocs last year I think.

SideOrderofSprouts · 16/09/2017 19:08

Ah, good stuff, Sprouts!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/09/2017 21:36

Lidl Nut Roast you say .....adds to list.
I bought the Linda Mc Cartney roast a couple of times , its more like stuffing, very sagey and chewey.
My DD doesn't like the LMc one (she always ate our vegetarian food but this year she turned proper vegetarian so I need to expand the vegetarian menu - DH and I long term vegetarian)
I'll give he Lidl one a try and get one to stash away too,

Fridge the menu sounds delish, can I have my crumble topping made with oats and almonds Xmas Grin

Mrsmadevans · 16/09/2017 21:55

70isalimit please let me know what you think of the Lidl one , my dd tried the LMC one and said it was too much like stuffing too. I am hoping this one will be much more nutty iyswim lol
Sprout the Batman scooter is fab little Chips will love it I am sure!
