Morning! Trying to step up present buying for DH's birthday in Nov, does anyone know of any discount codes/referral codes for notonthehighstreet? TIA

Mrsmadevans · 18/09/2017 10:45

Ah yes that may be it my dear , the Lush sets have been stuck in the box in a thick cardboard box on top of my wardrobe in my bedroom so I have kept them very dry iyswim.
Ohhh I hope your toothache is soon gone Firefly
Good luck with the test Babe
Biddy you made a great start putting me to shame

FireflyGirl · 18/09/2017 11:57

Thanks everyone. A plus of living in a small village - I can always get an emergency appointment when I need one.

Me: I've got a bit of a toothache, I think it's infected.
Dentist: No, the root is dead. Let me just pull it out with no anaesthetic...

She was right, though. Hardly felt a thing and it's not hurting at all now. I just need to go back in a couple of weeks to have a proper treatment done. Hoo-rah for the NHS.

As I've taken the day off work because I didn't know what time they'd be able to see me, I'm cracking on with the House and Holidays plan, decluttering and cleaning the master bedroom. Well, my half of it anyway!

It's a bit like one of those logic games - I know where I want to put stuff, but there's other stuff already there that needs to go somewhere else, but I can't move that yet. I'm trying to work out the chain.

My main goal for today is to take stuff to charity shop. I have a car full, at least...

Good luck with your test, Hairspray.

Mrsmadevans · 18/09/2017 16:22

Fire that is brilliant am so glad you got your tooth sorted well done on the decluttering!

blacksmiths09 · 18/09/2017 16:55

Firefly I'm cringing at the thought! Glad it didn't hurt! And it's reminded me that I must book checkups for the kids soon

Hairspray- hope test goes well.

Anyone else unable to keep non-perishable Christmas goodies in the house? I "perish" them at an alarming rate. I've tried stashing tons of sweets under the stairs at the very back, where I have to throw them at a slight angle to get them out of sight. Nearly got myself stuck, stretching in over all the junk to retrieve them during a 2am attack of the nibblies. Fortunately managed to wriggle free without having to wake DH. But might wait another while before buying for Christmas

TheWoollybacksWife · 18/09/2017 18:11

Mine are in the garage Ann Grin to stop me popping the Pringles Blush and to keep the posh soft drinks away from the DC.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/09/2017 18:41

I put things like J2O in the garage (its a bit damp for other food storage)
The pantry is fair game for DS , little bugger .
Anything I want to hide goes in my wardrobe usually but I've traded from a 3 door to a 2 door so less room now

CbeebiesAddict · 18/09/2017 18:47

Glad the tooth extraction went well fire Smile

I am wearing Christmas PJs but they are only serving to remind me how much weight I have put on since last Christmas :(

FireflyGirl · 18/09/2017 19:38

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone.

I also keep Christmas food in the garage. So far, there's a couple of bottles of pop which may well be drunk before Christmas as I'm slimming and will sometimes drink pop instead of alcohol on a Saturday night, just for something different. I've also got 3 bags of Doritos and a tube of Pringles in there. I usually stock up more towards the end of November, when I've got a better idea of what we'll need, but it will also go in the garage until the week before Christmas at the earliest.

My thinking is, the electronic door on the garage is broken so I'd have to be incredibly desperate to manually lift the door open to get to it Grin Although it just being outside was enough of a deterrent last year!

AhYaBastart · 18/09/2017 20:44

I’m hosting the Christmas Dinner for my family this year. Trying to work out how 15 people will fit in my house! There’ll be 4 toddlers, 3 teens, 8 adults and 3 greyhounds. Thinking a kids table and an adult table. No idea where the teens will sit though!

I keep my Christmas food in the garage too! Though I often find myself doing an emergency Tesco run on Dec 21st as I’ve ate the DC’s chocolate Blush

Mrsmadevans · 18/09/2017 21:26

Nothing would stop me from reaching the garage with the pringles bugger the Doritos , I think I would have to tunnel my way in if the weather was too bad

NoWordForFluffy · 18/09/2017 21:29

I'm hoping we don't eat our way through our snacks before Christmas...I don't want to have to lose weight in January. It's miserable enough as a month without needing to diet!

We have to keep our booty in the house as we have no garage. Might go for the back of the understairs cupboard like Ann.

SideOrderofSprouts · 18/09/2017 23:29

Fluffy how did your day go?

I enclose a picture of what I did today Grin

96! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2017 06:20

It was good, thanks! The really hard work starts today though as I've loads of new files to review. Give it a few weeks and I'll get into my stride though.

That looks brilliant, Sprouts! It must be great fun doing your job. 😁

ScrappyMalloy · 19/09/2017 07:44

I have a few bits of food stashed away in the spare room wardrobe - a couple of bottle of wine, two of the 'two for seven pounds' Quality Street, etc. The kind of things DH would pounce on if he found them.

The rest of my stuff goes on a spare shelf in the kitchen cupboard, but so far that only consists of a Christmas cake and a box of orange Matchmakers so it's all looking lonely so far 😀

I am trying to eat freezer food to make room in there, but it's not looking very empty so far (the most first world problem ever)

HairsprayBabe · 19/09/2017 07:47

Super foggy here today!

Test went ok thanks for asking all, I was diagnosed as a child but this was my first "workplace" assessment.

Oooh I love a good flask, I am a biologist by training (microbiologist) I am drawn to science equipment inexplicably!

RuggerHug · 19/09/2017 09:10

Well I got officially nothing done the last two days besides testing one of the Christmas candles and finding out there's 3 tins of sweets left from last year that have gone offSad. Don't know how that happened but now I have to rethink how many I order this year as I clearly went overboard last time!
Firefly any time I have to move things like that I blare the tetris music at the same time to spur me on, would that help?
DM messaged me yesterday to say she had elf on as she cleared the tree room. So I know where the mad prepping comes from Grin

HairsprayBabe · 19/09/2017 09:30

Sweets can't go off surely!

All that sugar should preserve them, they might not be the best for eating straight but you could probably bake with them at the very least save on waste!

I need to get a hold of some more jam jars, I keep saying I will do it next pay day but forgetting!

RuggerHug · 19/09/2017 11:01

Hairspray they're tins of roses so it's the chocolate Sad will have a proper look later but not hopeful. Another present just arrived for DSGrin

HairsprayBabe · 19/09/2017 11:08

I would probably still cook with them Xmas Grin
If it is iky chuck it if tastes good but has a bloom use in baking, if looks fine and tastes fine decant into smaller pretty jars and containers for teacher gifts etc.

nb. I do not care for sell by dates and will happily eat most things if they smell and taste fine!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2017 12:25

Me too, Hairspray! I say eat them! 😁🐷

RuggerHug · 19/09/2017 12:29

Ha, I have no problem eating them myself but the amount of them wouldn't be good. I know I'm going to end up buying more though, just because I can't give these ones out with the date on them. I'm not fussy but wouldn't want to give them to someone in case they were.
