It's freezing today and made me think of Christmas :)

My DD1 (6) has asked for a Nintendo switch already... they are horrifically expensive!!

My DD2 (4) never asks for anything!

Do you know yet what your kids are getting?

@miaow dd1 wants a cry baby too but as you say, she's not really that bothered about dolls. DD2 would get more use out of it but that seems harsh on dd1 to give it to her sister!

No idea what to get our two. They don't play with the stuff they have already. Probably Lego, Magic Tracks etc, adding to stuff we have already. Going to get tickets for some shows too, try to move towards experiences rather than physical stuff filling the house!

SimplyNigella · 08/09/2017 18:15

DS will be 4 just after Christmas, I've bought quite a bit so far but haven't decided what to give for which.

  • Lego Juniors Batman and Spider-Man sets
  • Personalised wooden toolbox
  • Post Office play set
  • Mud kitchen
  • Wooden crane
  • Orchard shopping list game
  • Jenga
  • Play-Doh

Plus various stocking bits.

elQuintoConyo · 08/09/2017 18:35

DS will turn 6yo in December. Between that and Christmas on his list is:

Kidizoom camera
Lego train
Lego police station
Playmobil aeroplane
CD player (littlest!)
Marble run
Bike
Microscope
Harry Potter 1st book

He won't be getting all of that. The bike he might get next week because his is beyond repair and i think waiting 3 months for an outside gift then not using it much due to the weather is a bit pants.

Basic entry-level Lego train is about €190 alone, so he'd get just that plus chocolate! Thus he probably isn't getting that unless we can find it 2nd hand.

The camera i'm a bit 'meh' about... We'd still have to pay to print wonky photos of the dog, surely?

But the rest are definite gifts. I'll read HP to him but by bit as he isn't reading yet and that's pretty advanced for him. He recently watched all the films Blush

Plus i'm making him some cushions: one on the shape of his name, one giant arrow and one cloud as he loves the book 'Oscar and Hoo'. Oh and he'd like me to make Harry P's invisibility cloak HmmGrin

DS (1) will be getting some cuddly toys, a few sets of duplo and some books and that's all I can think of so far.
I did see a Cookie Monster at build a bear the other day so I might get him that.

I tend to end up buying most of the presents for my little brother who is 15 and he will be getting;
A new skateboard deck and some wheels he wants
A new set of drawing pens
A new sketchbook
Books (have got a couple but will get a few more)
Clothes (he's got two jumpers and a tee so far)
A Lego set
Sweets

And that's all I can think of at the minuet! He wants an I pad pro but my eldest brother has said no as he only got the new mini in January 2017.

He's 16 in Jan and we are going to Iceland so I might get him some warm clothes for the trip for Christmas. No idea what to get him for his birthday!

Ds (10) has been asking for a go pro. I've talked him into a video camera instead. He likes making you tube videos. 🎗

@sunseptember They have never been, I've not been since I was a kid either so I am super excited!

BeatriceBeaudelaire · 12/09/2017 12:47

@SunSeptember the new jelly bombs are good from lush as they're far more moisturising. I also suggest the Sleepy body lotion- smells like cinnamon burnt lavender ( difficult to describe but lovely) which knocks me out on a night from the smell. Also the lip scrubs or face masks are fun - and the scrubs taste yum too x

SunSeptember · 12/09/2017 12:53

Thanks Beatrice they sound wonderful

fleshmarketclose · 12/09/2017 12:54

Dd's laptop is limping along just now and she wants a desktop computer so that is what she will get I suppose.

I'm thinking of a train table for him. A few more bits and pieces too.

I've things in my amazon basket and watching the price. Far too expensive right now.

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuckKeidis · 12/09/2017 12:57

It's DD's birthday today, so I'll put off the Christmas lists for another month! #skint

Deltabeta · 12/09/2017 13:12

MuddlingThroughLife what kind of video camera did you get? My DS9 is also looking for something for filming his you tube videos .

lostlalaloopsy · 12/09/2017 13:41

I have started making lists of ideas as we have no clue what to get them. So here's a rough idea -

Dd1 who will be 9 at Xmas
Tv - I have finally given in!
Headphones
Speakers
Glitter tattoos
Face paints

The tv is a massive present so the other bits will be much smaller and cheaper.

Ds Age 5
Bike
Remote control car
Bean bag
Headphones
Nerf gun
Knex set
Board game

Dd2 Age 3
Easel and chalk
Giant unicorn
Happyland set
Toot toot unicorn
Cloud lamp

bimbobaggins · 12/09/2017 19:38

My ds is 14 and we are going on holiday at Christmas so wasn't really planning any gifts just spending money but after a disastrous birthday where he had no gifts to open I have started buying in some stuff to take on holiday. Clothing items just so he has parcels to unwrap

bimbobaggins · 12/09/2017 19:40

I am very impressed with the people who have complained lists already. Those were the easy days.

MuddlingThroughLife · 12/09/2017 19:43

deltabeta I've not yet got ds his video camera. I have one on my wishlist on Amazon. Video cameras are so cheap these days I'm getting him a "proper grown up" one. The one I have my eye on is £49.99. It has anti shake feature which will be great for my ds (surgery to remove brain tumour has left him with left sided weakness/shakiness). They also do a bundle with the camera, tripod and 32gb memory card for £70, so I think I will go for the bundle x 🎗

Sloegin2 · 12/09/2017 19:54

Mine will be 11 and 8.

They're getting a Nintendo switch as a joint gift.
A stunt scooter each.

11 year old will have Lego.
New Diary of a wimpy kid book.

8 year old will have ramps/assessories to go with his scooter, new book.
