Afternoon all! Very envious of your trip to France Fridge, and welcome Holly.

I have a nice little stash of stocking presents coming along now, and my first bottle of wine put away, although if DH discovers it, he will drink it as it's his fave. It's carefully hidden in the back of the guest room wardrobe so fingers crossed 😆

CbeebiesAddict · 27/08/2017 17:43

Picked up the toy kitchen today, just a chocolate orange to get and then DS is done :) Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine!

AnotherShirtRuined · 27/08/2017 19:42

Thanks so much for the suggestions of Selfridges and the article link. Cannot wait to see what they have got in Smile

Insomnia strikes tonight...need sleep soon!

SideOrderofSprouts · 28/08/2017 08:07

Morning! Happy last bank holiday till Christmas!!

tootsieglitterballs · 28/08/2017 08:12

I hate bank holidays...hubby always has to work, and everywhere is busy.
Garden day for us I think!

ConstantlyCooking · 28/08/2017 09:13

Woolly where did you get the teacher colouring book? We do secret Santa at work and it sounds fab!

TheWoollybacksWife · 28/08/2017 09:55

@ConstantlyCooking hopefully this should work

teacher colouring books

TheWoollybacksWife · 28/08/2017 11:12

My Amazon stuff has arrived. The colouring book is very good but uses some American terminology. DH (who hasn't endured watched as much US teen programming as me) was a bit bamboozled by them. Grin

I got a voucher from Costco for £10 off an £11 online spend. I have been thinking of using brown parcel paper to wrap my gifts this year (as I can get it now) and briefly considered ordering some for £7 ish after my voucher. Then I realised that DH would kill me if 250 meters of brown paper arrived.

ConstantlyCooking · 28/08/2017 14:08

Thank you Woolly - that looks perfect for Secret Santa (and makes a change from scarves, mugs and alcohol!).

Minster2012 · 28/08/2017 14:33

Am very excited after this week booking G4 Christmas candlelight concert, taking my family & in laws, will be very Christmassy 🎄 & signal the run in for me 😁

BiddyPop · 28/08/2017 16:17

I am having trouble going through my backlog of emails, so losing myself in here a bit today.....

Reminds me that I need to start stashing naice wine - I still have last year's half bottle of dessert wine, and while we have a couple of nice bottles of vintage port, there's only 2 of us to drink it so I will get a half bottle of the M&S port (we'll drink the good stuff sometime - when there's a group of people to enjoy it!). I want to get a bottle of bubbles, and 2 nice bottles of white wine for turkey - not that we'll drink all that, but gives us options as to whether we have some bubbles and a glass of wine, or actually only have wine but feel like opening the second bottle, or I have a nice glass of sweet wine with pudding (a very rare treat!).

I've also been browsing on Amazon, mostly at camping gear and filling my wishlist (in case people want a few ideas in coming months!). Saw a few things on other sites on our hols that would be good, and realized I was still missing a few things, and my chair is on its last legs (literally!). (And the bbq doesn't come off the ground enough so scorched the grass Blush - I think I'd like a firepit and tripod arrangement instead....).

I found 2 nice lunchtime carol concerts in December as well. DMIL "might" come to 1 with me (I go every year and invite her annually, she has yet to actually come, but maybe....). My DAunt came last year, and I will say it to her again also, as 1 is a Friday and the other a Monday, and the Choir Mistress is the same for both (different choirs though). But at least I have a plan. And a possible nighttime concert that DH might agree to (he has "put up with" a few choral and orchestral ones with me but grudgingly, whereas this is one I think he'd like Xmas Grin). I'm happy to go to lunchtime ones alone.

I will catch up on all the news here too as well.

FireflyGirl · 28/08/2017 16:45

Am I remembering rightly that you're in York, Minster?

It's been really hot here this weekend, which is quite frankly ridiculous for a bank holiday. Has stopped me thinking festive thoughts, at any rate!

Minster2012 · 28/08/2017 21:25

Yes York area @firefly and found that G4 are doing tours around the UK of Christmas concerts in minsters/cathedrals so I'm off to the one near me & taking PIL & folks & with some friends & doing nibbles & fizz at ours first...OH only let's me do decorations 2 weeks before xmas but this is before so decorations HAVE to be up for that!

jonathanansell.com/shows/view/?permalink=g4-christmas-by-candlelight-tour-2016

Minster2012 · 28/08/2017 21:26

That should take you to the 2017 tour.... should be lovely operatic music in monsters & cathedrals with candles!!!

Minster2012 · 28/08/2017 21:26

Grin minsters!!

TheWoollybacksWife · 28/08/2017 21:38

Oh they sound wonderful. The closest to me is Nottingham - I wonder if I can persuade the DDs to come with me.

Minster2012 · 28/08/2017 21:47

I thought so, my OH is away and I'm both happy doing Christmas stuff, in good books with all parents AND it's part of their Christmas presents so wins all round, that will be proper start of Christmas for us!! 🎄😁👍🏻

FireflyGirl · 28/08/2017 22:05

Thanks for that, Minster! There's one where DMIL lives, which is even closer to us than York, so I'm going to book that one with DMIL, DM and DSis. I'm sure I can persuade DMIL to do nibbles and mulled wine beforehand...

We used to go to the candlelit carol concert at our Church when I was growing up, and always loved it, but I haven't been for about 15 years now!

Have you been before? Do people sing along? 'Cos I don't think I'll be able to stop DM. She's a terrible singer but she does love a good Christmas Carol... Xmas Grin

Minster2012 · 28/08/2017 22:33

@fireflygirl I haven't been before but if I know my & my extended family we will start singing along even if no one else will so it sounds like we'll be going to the same one so we will sing loud & proud!! (Think those loud ppl that sing jersulaleum v loudly & proudly!!) that will be me & PIL (my folks might be cringing a little but jointing in slightly more quietly!)

Happy to help!

Minster2012 · 28/08/2017 22:34

Surely Santa hats & reindeer antlers welcome too?!!

FireflyGirl · 28/08/2017 22:46

I imagine so. We could wear them anyway - instead of a white carnation, and wink at each other across the aisles Xmas Wink

Minster2012 · 28/08/2017 22:54

Ha!! Mumsnet Christmas code!!
