Oo almost 120! I went out early this morning to put the bins out and it was cold enough to see my breath. It's made me feel all autumny and snuggly now I've come back to bed Grin

HairsprayBabe · 25/08/2017 08:11

The trees round here are on the turn, and I have made a list of winter wardrobe essentials I am going to need for this year.

Minster2012 · 25/08/2017 08:14

Walked out the door this morning and there was that lovely autumn crispness cool feeling about the air! It's coming!

SideOrderofSprouts · 25/08/2017 08:26

Happy rudolf day!

CbeebiesAddict · 25/08/2017 08:34

Four months!!!! Definite autumnal feel this morning :) Picked up some more stocking fillers for DS yesterday and have just emailed IKEA to cancel our order. Amazon are doing cat treat stockings but I am wondering what the use by date will be if I order now Hmm

tootsieglitterballs · 25/08/2017 08:40

Well I'm full of cold this morning, so feeling extra wintery!

4 months-where did that appear from! So exciting!

I'm planning on going through the Christmas gift box today and adding them all this my spreadsheet , and then cringing at how much I still have to sort in the next 2 months!

HairsprayBabe · 25/08/2017 08:46

Happy Rudolph Day all!

ConstantlyCooking · 25/08/2017 09:41

Christmasunicofrn - I am back at work on Tuesday as well.
Although i enjoy the holidays, autumn term means I can start planning for Christmas openly (at least in a work context) Xmas Grin
I am planning to make crab apple jelly this weekend to go with cold turkey along with chilli jam
Any links for Christmas chutney would be much appreciated to extend my repertoire.

FridgeCut · 25/08/2017 09:54

I managed to book my waddesdon tickets yesterday so that's done and my mum has told me when their grotto opens so that is booked in. Every weekend day in December is now full :)

Today I will receive DS1's main christmas present, I ordered a big box of magnet tiles www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LU09HO4/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=mumsnetforum-21 hope he likes them! He is 4 so I think it will be a good present and something for him to play alone with which lego really isn't yet.

So Christmas I have scheduled
Garden centre that has lovely winter wonderland
Waddesdon
Kew
Family party (with DH's family, as otherwise we don't get together as a big group so I host a party)
Santa Dash
Pantomime
Girly shopping day
Friend visit for the weekend

Just got to work out when we are going to the grotto and if I can squeeze in a wreath making course for me.

HairsprayBabe · 25/08/2017 10:14

I just booked the Ballet for me DM and DAunt Nutcracker a go go!

FridgeCut · 25/08/2017 11:22

Ooh I might take DS to the coliseum to the family showing if they do in christmas 2017. He loves dance so I think he'd enjoy it.

VivaJen · 25/08/2017 12:23

Oooh me too @HairsprayBabe - we're seeing it in Edinburgh. I can't wait.

@FridgeCut looks like you are going to have a busy festive season!

Happy Rudolph Day Everyone. Xmas Smile

smellylittleorange · 25/08/2017 12:35

Happy Santa Day everyone...I am over the moon as DH has been given Christmas Week off ...i get between Christmas and New Year off automatically within my role anyhow so we are nice and coordinated...he has to work NYE though

SideOrderofSprouts · 25/08/2017 19:45

Yay smellylittleorange that's always a relief

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2017 21:41

Ooh...improvement on the M&S food status now!

Countdown to Christmas Part 3
FireflyGirl · 25/08/2017 21:56

We're not 'early' M&S, we're organised! Grin

I've booked the Santa train, and we haven't had a summer holiday this year so we're taking a week in December and have hired a cottage. It's about 90 mins away from Beamish, so I'm trying to convince DH we need to make the trip! Has anyone been at Christmas?

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2017 22:05

Which train did you book, Firefly?

It was only saying closed at the beginning of the week, so at least there's signs of movement at Marks! It's September next week. Hopefully that'll induce something more food porn-like. Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 25/08/2017 22:11

I admire your dogged determination Fluffy Xmas Grin

I went for a lovely long walk keeping the DVTs away in the sunshine today and sorted out most of the stocking fillers. Still need to pick up socks and sweets.

tootsieglitterballs · 25/08/2017 22:27

@FireflyGirl we haven't done beamish at Christmas yet (and sadly won't get chance this year with a newborn - it's about an hour away from us) but from what I'm told, it's amazing!
I love beamish at the best of times, combined with Christmas it must be amazing!

Hubbabubbababy123 · 25/08/2017 23:24

I cannot keep up. Been missing a few days and so many new posts read them all. But I can never remember once I get here to write. Sprouts had a sore ear, feel better soon. Rudolph day here was spent making candles for gifts and gardening before the rain hit.. School back on Wednesday and I cannot wait for the silence. Lots of Christmas jobs to do but more diy to do first (September is always do up house month). Been very cold here last few mornings and very Dewey love it..

SideOrderofSprouts · 26/08/2017 00:00

My ear is better thank you x
I'm love autumnal mornings. Roll on jumpers and coats

BiddyPop · 26/08/2017 01:21

Morning all,

I spent Rudy day putting away camping gear and unsuccessfully trying out our new Christmas tree. The pole is too thick to fit into the stand, so I have sent an email about it.

Freezer is pretty we
L restocked though, after fish shop and marks purchases. But I still need to do a food shop before next week back to work, all day at a regatta tomorrow and family dinner later, mum and dad go home so,estimated on Sunday but DS may be racing, Sao it really is chaos as usual. And she's racing next weekend for definitive, away, so we are all away the day after school syartgs!eeek!

I have a bag of beans from the garden which are frame specifically ( in my mind at least!) for Christmas dinner. Frozen. Ugh hate iPad being so/@92

FireflyGirl · 26/08/2017 07:59

The North Yorkshire Moors Santa Express, from Pickering, Fluffy, as then we get to see the reindeer! Xmas Grin DS is 2.5 now, so he'll be old enough to get excited this year, even if he won't have a clue why!

Think DH thinks he's in for a relaxing week off. I, however, am making the most of it and planning a week of Santa visits and Christmas markets!

I'm in denial about autumnal mornings, and still keeping my fingers crossed for summer - don't think it's quite sunk in that it's the end of August... lots of trees on my morning commute are turning browns and yellows now, though.

DH's birthday is mid-September, and we'd usually go abroad then, and when we got back it would be cold and autumnal, and I could cope with it then because I'd had my summer, if you see what I mean.

Not sure how I'll manage with the dark mornings - I had 2 years off after DS was born and only started back to work at the end of March when the mornings were already pretty light!

Good thing you tried the tree now, Biddy, and didn't wait until December! That would have been disappointing!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2017 08:08

Morning!

I'm glad your ear is better, Sprouts. 😁

It's raining up in Glasgow today; hopefully clearing later.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2017 08:24

We are holidaying in Pickering next year, Firefly, mostly so we are near to the steam train as we love them! We've been to the Lakes and Scotland for our last two summer holidays, so we are heading east next year!

We've been to Iceland with the kids, but we've not been abroad other than that. I may look for a long weekend in Majorca or something as well, get a little sunshine next year!
