Surely to get rainbow crap....you first need a unicorn 😆

GettingitwrongHauntingatnight · 07/12/2016 13:33

A basket of fruit that we don't get very often. mummys to mean to by expensive fruit banana anyone?

MaisieDotes · 07/12/2016 13:36

Not that weird compared to others but DD wanted the Guinness Book of Records one year when she was about 5 or 6. She couldn't think of anything else she wanted.

She's 15 now and, this year, one of her friends is having her bedroom recarpeted as her Christmas present which I thought was a bit unusual.

MaisieDotes · 07/12/2016 13:38

solas could you get a soft case for a small guitar (either a child's guitar or some other small guitar) and convert it into a backpack?

Blueflowers2011 · 07/12/2016 13:39

Butterfly pins he uses at school

celeryisnotasuperfood · 07/12/2016 13:48

A Mr bloom costume - not your usual costume but we've found some bits on ebay and a bit of crafty knitting!

Solasum · 07/12/2016 13:53

Maisie, that is a great idea. Not sure why I didn't think of that

HeddaGabbler · 07/12/2016 13:56

Ah what a lovely thread. Am chuckling at the loud hailers! My son is only 18 months so I'm looking forward to all this to come Smile

MaisieDotes · 07/12/2016 13:57

Smile yay! < feels useful >

Ukelele cases are small.

Stokey · 07/12/2016 13:59

Dd2 (4.5) has asked for a ukelele, a gazebo and a lasso. She also wants a green alien with see through bones

I'm entirely confused.

ShuckingFit · 07/12/2016 14:00

Our four year old wants "the force in his hand like Darth Vader".......

Can anyone help with that?
Really had to bite my tongue and not say "so do I you little bugger"

Mol1628 · 07/12/2016 14:02

A hot air balloon.

MaisieDotes · 07/12/2016 14:07

shucking that reminds me of The Terrible Event of Christmas 1984 which has gone down in my family's history.

It's all too painful even now, but suffice to say that 4yo DB's He-Man's sword did not contain the Power of Greyskull and putting it in the fire to encourage the Power to materialise in fact melted and ruined the sword Xmas Sad

BexleyRae · 07/12/2016 14:07

shucking you can get a BB8 that's controlled by a thing on your write-up so a bit like you have the force in your hand. It was on this morning not that I watched it all today

A lot of acting on Christmas Day? A little card from FC saying it will work for one day only and he must be very careful not to abuse his power?

PerfumeAndCatsAndBooks · 07/12/2016 14:08

These are all so sweet and making me nostalgic for little ones, mine are all big teens with a list of equally impossible items...

Not Christmas but I once went on a business trip and asked the DC (they were little then!) it they would like a present - just expecting a "yes please". Dd2 said "I'd like a pair of shoes please, they must be brown and pink please with a strap across the middle and made out of soft stuff, not like school shoes. Oh and they must have a butterfly on them thank you" Hmm

Was browsing in department store on said trip when I saw a pair of brown suede shoes, with a Mary Jane strap and a pink butterfly on them. One pair left, in DD's size! We still fondly talk about The Butterfly Shoes.

So don't give up hope on finding The Force and top hats and moles Grin

Fuck the megaphones though. I once mistakenly bought DS1 a harmonica...

MrsHathaway · 07/12/2016 14:10

DH has vetoed DC2's request for a "refurrey wisle" (referee whistle) on the grounds that they're ear-splittingly loud.

I had put one in the Amazon basket already. I'm half-deaf so I wouldn't have cared Grin

Chasingsquirrels · 07/12/2016 14:12

This year ds2 (10) wants a v-pillow.

thenightmanageress · 07/12/2016 14:13

This year DT1 has asked for a dessert island and a dinosaur museum. I have explained that if he gets presents like this at his age (3!) he probably won't ever get another gift from Father Christmas. So, he's agreed to settle on something smaller!

TheLivingAsheth · 07/12/2016 14:14

One year DS asked for "a plastic knife (the sort you get free in coffee shops) and a shark on a stick".

Another year, on Christmas Eve just before going to bed, he wrote a note to Santa asking for "the prize that X won in the school raffle". He wasn't sure what it was.

ShuckingFit · 07/12/2016 14:15

Thanks for the suggestions-I should do a little something force-wise.

Said four year old is a peculiar little big thing. He's not like any DC I've ever met or like his brothers.

And GrinShock at the power of grey skull sword!

Latenightreader · 07/12/2016 14:22

When I was four I requested a medium sized wheel barrow. My amazing Grandad made me one.

TTAoD · 07/12/2016 14:28

Ds1 six wants 10 real red panda pets this year complete with feeding dish and leads so he can take them walks! He has got 1 teddy red panda i might just pick up a lead and feeding dish for a laugh to go with it Xmas Wink

OvO · 07/12/2016 14:35

This year my 9 year old asked for a giant squid toy. Must be kind of squishy, must have poseable tentacles, must be really big.

By The Power Of Mumsnet I found such an item! Xmas Grin

I honestly thought it didn't exist but lovely MNetters found more than one!

The 12 year old wants a travel pillow with a hood. Not unusual in that they're readily available to buy but I just found it an odd thing to want.

They'll both be happy this Christmas. Grin
