Ideas for those hard-to-buy-for men in our lives

I was going to ask on the bargain thread but thought it might be easier to have a separate thread.

Please come and share your ideas for the men you are buying for. I have DH and several adult relatives to buy for and am stumped. My only idea so far is a Star Wars Thumb Wars light sabre book for DN.

Help me move away from the Lynx gift sets please (or at least get them cheaper).

I've ordered my brother a puzzle of a street map of his city from happypuzzle.co.uk. They have all different cities. Code 224t gets you 25% off.

For someone who exercises, these people turn workout data into art - www.madewithsisu.com

I might get my DH one of these as they're just about getting affordable - a decent electronic picture frame at last, upload your own photos or they have an art club. Ships from US though. www.electricobjects.com/meet-eo2

3D printed things - www.shapeways.com/marketplace/

Has anybody got the board game 'Ticket to Ride'? Wondering about maybe doing dp a 'Family night in' theme too - so a board game, new pack of cards, some beers and snacks. Does that sound naff?

Cheguevarahamster · 07/11/2016 20:36

Remus I've heard nothing but good things about "Ticket to Ride" and its what I am getting DH this year. He doesn't want anything (but loves board games) so something for us all to play will be great!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/11/2016 20:48

Thanks, Hamster. Might go for it!

NotAMammy · 07/11/2016 22:41

Tainted Angel It's not a buyable gift, but there's a Game of Thrones Cards Against Humanity download that you could get and print out? Maybe with a set of Cards Against Humanity if you don't already have it?

For those struggling for ideas, I like to have a goo on Primer every so often. It's rather American, and aimed at the stereotypical Millennial male, but sometimes has a good idea. They've got a whole gift guide here: www.primermagazine.com/2015/spend/2015-gift-ideas-for-guys

So far I've bought DH a cd, book and formcards. I was going to leave it at that, but I think golf lessons would be a sound investment. Is the best thing to do just to find a local club and buy a voucher?

Abrahamkin · 08/11/2016 06:58

We have Ticket to Ride! My DH loves it (though it wasn't a gift from us).

ethelb · 08/11/2016 08:07

A human ingredients tshirt for bastard FIL who doesn't like anything https://www.sciencemuseumshop.co.uk/m/museumgifts/exclusives/humanningredientst-shirt.htmm_

A vin santo gift box for BIL who doesn't do anything http://www.carluccios.com/shop-online/christmass_giftshop/confection-x91402

And a framed print of a football team based cartoon which hasn't been finished by the artist yet Hmm for DH who will be getting whiskey and Amazon vouchers from everyone else as he is so hard to buy for.

NotAMammy thanks for that link, that is perfect for my DP. He has a set of CAH cards but the GoT ones will go down a storm Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/11/2016 18:44

Thanks, Abraham. Sounds like it could be a plan!

Laska5772 · 09/11/2016 19:55

Laska5772 · 09/11/2016 19:59

DH is a yoga freak.. any ideas of something yoga related?

Abrahamkin · 09/11/2016 20:06

I got my form cards today! Ordered on the 7th of October. So that's just around one month. If you order them now Laska you will hopefully receive them in time.

Laska5772 · 09/11/2016 20:14

Thanks Abrahamkin I have ordered a pack of 9 (so fingers crossed will split then as starter between DH, DB and DS, then they can get more of they like them) . How many did you get?

Laska5772 · 09/11/2016 20:24

Thinking Bamboo Base layer for Dh also...

FromIbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/11/2016 21:06

I ordered some formcards from ebay and they were here within a week -worth bearing in mind if you want them fairly quickly.

Hotwaterbottle1 · 09/11/2016 21:10

Do you think an indoor skydiving voucher for 2 is a good present? For me & him.

NotAMammy · 09/11/2016 21:56

Fab Hotwaterbottle! I'd love it anyway...

Laska5772 · 09/11/2016 21:57

Wow but those formcards on ebay are £22 for 9. but £15 direct, (but it wont really matter if they are after christmas as only a 'filler' present )..they are pretty cool stuff though..

Laska5772 · 09/11/2016 21:57

Indoor skydiving sounds a bit risky!!

SnugglySnerd · 09/11/2016 21:58

Great ideas on here. I'm too tired to think about it now but will try to add something tomorrow!

Laska5772 · 09/11/2016 22:03

I do think that the Ticket to Ride Europe is going to be the winner present for Dh though

Laska5772 · 09/11/2016 22:09

Also Bamboo baselayers. Have ordered one for DH.. expensive but i reckon pretty good , if the fella you are buying for is outdoorsy.. ( they have a good few things in the sale section also ) .

Make sure you sign up for the newsletter first and get 15% off (I didnt see it until afterwards Doh!Hmm)
